I can't turn off the chirping so have to unprotect those devices and turn off the APC while I order a replacement battery which takes a week sometimes.

It was very difficult to match my existing Smart UPS to the correct battery, I had to finally call them. That was more difficult that it should have been. The battery arrived as scheduled, with a small stain on top. However, APC said that should not be an issue thru a chat. I replaced it and it appears all is well. UPS back to running just fine

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's a battery. My previous battery died, so I bought this as replacement for my UPS. I installed it, turned the device on, and - voilà! Power backup! I haven't seen it since, so I'm not sure how it's doing, but the self tests do not raise alarms. My assumption is that the battery is doing what a battery is supposed to do. However, APC sent me TWO emails now to review their - wait for it - battery, and the only review that would make sense is a longevity assessment. Well, this battery is absolutely perfect during its first three weeks on duty.

I purchased a genuine APC RBC7 battery for this customer in September 2010 and it only lasted until November 2011 - 1 yr, 2 mo. It should have lasted 3-5 years. I am replacing this one with another less expensive brand which should last at least as long. How can I convince the customer to pay a premium for low quality?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from RBC7 Purchase Review Our location experiences power sags and surges. We have three SmartUPS 1500VA units to protect electronics and computer systems. This purchase was made to replace the battery in our oldest unit. Its battery provided about 5 years of highly dependable low-load protection. Over that time, it progressed to a rapid discharge state, thus requiring replacement. Another UPS will need battery replacement soon (about 4 years on it). Installation was routine. Periodic battery replacements are routine maintenance requirements for these units. In our circumstances, we see 5 years of service on them, possibly a bit longer. (Of note, per Schneider/APC, these are to be replaced every 5 years, even if no fault is shown.) I prefer the genuine article purchased directly from Schneider/APC to any generic substitute. Quick shipping and well packaged, received without damage. Functions as required.

Helps with power spikes and outages that happen as the utility company switches transformer pathways in the evening. Thought about upgrading to a newer APC system, but I was uncertain as to whether there were huge technological leaps in power savings and power storage. As you can see, we get alot of life out of our existing APC system.

I have purchased many batteries directly from APC over the past 12+ years, and have recommended APC too many others for that very reason. That has now ended. The local vendor I found to recycle the old battery also has an AGM cell of the same capacity and form factor, at a very competitive price. I will still buy APC UPS products as I haven’t found any better units, but you have lost a battery customer.

But APC needs to provide pre-paid return shipping labels for used APC batteries like they have in the past. I had to futz around to dispose of my old battery due to the rats nest of government rules and regulations. So you can guess where my old battery went. That's right. Too bad. Tough nuggies. Please provide the pre-paid return labels with orders for replacements batteries, or else the old batteries just *might* go to the landfill.

APC customer service not only helped with the return they helped me get the correct battery saving me the trouble of going back through the entire ordering process. The return process was quick and easy and in 2 days I had the correct battery and was up and running. This was one of the best customer service experiences I've had in a long time. Customer service should be commended.
