Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great For Outages Living in an area where it seems to have 1-2 power outages a month this is a fantastic device. I have this connected to a Sony receiver, Samsung 65'' TV, cable modem / router. This allows to hang tight when the power goes off. Most of the time there is enough juice in it so when the power does falter, it will be back on before I lose power. Also much safer for electronics and avoids power surges. Very happy with the use case and would definitely buy again. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Plenty of Power While it's a bit on the heavy side, the PRO BR 1500VA UPS has more than enough power for my needs. I tested it with a fully charged battery connected to an engineering workstation and two 24" high-res monitors. The battery lasted for 92 minutes. The alarm sounded every 30 seconds and then continuously during the last minute of power. I particularly like the front panel display that shows you how many minutes of power remain. Based on previous experiences with APC products, I expect this UPS will last a long time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding UPS As always with APC products, the setup was dead simple. I just plugged in the battery cable, plugged the unit into the wall and hooked up the computer. Notable with this UPS is its sine wave feature. Though many devices don't require sine wave power, many do, so this is a definite plus even if you don't need one now, It's worth the extra money to be prepared. As with all my other APC UPS's the software and front panel switches meet the need and then some.A big question is always capacity. Our power company advised us to be prepared for an up to 48 hour blackout if there's a serious fire or other risk requiring a precautionary power interruption. In such a case, having extra capacity for charging one's cellphone could be vitally important. So having much more than the normal capacity available could be very important.Even if a power interruption lasts no where near 2 days, having power for an internet modem/router could be critical and a larger UPS powering such low power devices would provide a serious amount of up time. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surfing in the Dark One week in, and it's already been tested with a 5 minute blackout. APC products are part of our life in this rural environment, since any storm coming through invariable drops power, from 10 seconds to several hours. Since the Internet is one of our primary sources of communication, all of our equipment, from endpoints to routers to the radio transmitter are on APC UPS. If it's not on a UPS or a surge protector, it is unplugged during storms. This PRO 1500 shows the increasing maturity of APC products. I've used them for over 20 years, and they keep getting better. Even the PowerChute product is improving, although at a slower rate. The UPS did require opening the battery door to connect the battery; some of the smaller UPS' that I've used only require removing a clip to connect the battery. The 1500 is heavy, which is expected for something that will keep my equipment up for over an hour. However, I was able to install it on my standing desk behind the monitor; the slim fit (4" wide by 13" deep by 10" tall) providing a lot of power in a small space. I run two computers (desktop and a laptop), three monitors, and several USB devices off of the UPS; the load is only 9% with a runtime of 83 minutes on backup power. Unlike some of the older models, this one has a display screen on it that allows you to see a lot of options - the load in watts and percent, incoming power in and out in volts and hertz, battery status, and events. Providing conditioned power to sensitive electronic equipment is one of our priorities. The 1500 has 5 battery protected outlets and 5 outlets that are surge protection only. Additionally, it has surge protected outlets for a coax cable and for Ethernet. Helpful if you are trying to protect cable modems and other infrastructure from surges as well. Reliability is one of the reasons I continue to use APC products. This UPS joins 3 others here in the house, two in the barn, and 3 more in the cabins. In a rural area, this is the difference between working online and sitting in the dark.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Healthy Runtime I bought this unit for a replacement of an older UPS system. The load demand was not very heavy, about 70 watts, and I expected a similar run time to the previous UPS and was pleasantly surprised.I believe the purer sinewave output greatly increased the efficiency of the load in turn increasing runtime. I should add that this battery backup was a lot more aesthetically pleasing than older systems. The unit performed without a hitch after a simulated power failure. The only reason I did not give this unit a 5 star review is I found its recharge time quite slow. Not saying that other units are faster but when you have an LCD screen in front of your face showing the battery level it might play into ones impatient nature. The 1500VA unit is the only one out of the models line up that has a built in cooling fan. The fan is quiet, thermal management seemed adequate for my application however my demand was quite low and I look foward to seeing other reviews on how the unit handles a larger load.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Options! Works well for home office environment. The best thing on this and it may sound odd is the 2 USB ports. Just makes things easier and more convenient.
