This is not my first Zagg Rugged Case but it is, by far, the best design! Of course, it is functional... always a feature.. this one is also a great design. The new color and the slots instead of a hinge that could (and did) break down, over time. I’m delighted with the the Pro Keys!
One area for improvement: Add a note in the Quick Start Guide indicating that a charging cord is NOT included. In the Charging Your Keyboard section it says “Plug the Tyoe-C end of the charging cable into the keyboard....”. i looked and looked in the packaging for the cable before calling Zagg Support. The very professional representative told the cable was no longer included. Not a problem, just confusion and wasted time.

Buyer Beware of Upselling Scams !!!
This was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had with a purchase of a product and lack of customer service thereafter. I started looking for a new Keyboard for my Ipad, and after several months final purchase a New Rugged Book. After receiving it, the case was shipped with the incorrect charging cable. The literature showed one cable, but they shipped one that I can’t use. When I wrote and complained, they tried to up sale me a charger for $15 bucks. All I asked was to send me the correct cable and would ship the old one back. As far as customer service, they only write back once every few days, and try to brush me off. I would not recommend any purchases as there is NO customer service, and buyer beware of upselling scams. Again, they have cheated me by bait and switch, and tried to sell me why I should have gotten to make the product work in the first place.

Price increase
I tried to re-order the rugged book in January. They were out of stock. The price was $89 with a 20% to order when these were back in stock. The first part of March, got an email & noticed the rugged book was available. The price for availability was $120 with a 20% discount. Then took over a week to arrive, almost 10 business days. The product was everything I expected with exception a 40% price increase over two months. I at least hope the hinges will last longer than 2 years.

We go through a lot of these. They seem to break days after the warranty expires. Very expensive to replace at that rate of decay.

I have followed Zagg since they started with the clam case. Never purchased before but kept on the newsletter list. A great deal came through for the rugged iPad case and keyboard. Ok, I will buy it—my first purchase with Zagg.
I noticed a language option in the product details and contacted support to find out if it relates to keyboard layout or something else (The attribute "Keyboard Layout" would seem more descriptive!). After a 24+ hour wait for an answer switching between posting a message through one support option after another to try and get a timely response, I was assured they were all "QWERTY" keyboards, so I happily placed an order.
It arrived...its a "QWERTZ" keyboard whhhhattt? But I was assured by the makers that it would arrive "QWERTY". That's ok I will just teach myself to type different with the 'Y' and the 'Z' keys in opposite places that's not annoying in the slightest.
Yes, it is. So I find a number to call. After a half an hour conversation, the support staff says assures me will get back to me ASAP with a resolution.
"Diary Entry from iPad Maz 16th 2020: It has now been two weeks since I lost contact with YAGG. I fear they maz have all perished. I almost gave up hope zesterdaz as I still have not been able to reconcile with the y and the z being in the wrong place."
My takeaway the products are cool, but the support is shambolic and unprofessional. So after years of following ZAGG my buying experiences was rubbish, what a disappointment.

Thos keyboard/ case combo has served me well, saving screen damage from bumps, drops and grandchildren numerous times, enough so that I’ve replaced this 3 times at my expense. Most recently when trying to file a warranty claim I was told this was mo longer available, but a couple weeks later it appeared on the site and I bought it again. The recurring problem is the plastic case part that retains the hinge eventually fails, leading to floppy screen

I work in the construction industry but need access to the web & digital files too. I can't wait for a traditional device to boot so the iPad is the way to go. This case w keyboard works amazing! One Little Grumble
I’ve used Zagg’s Rugged Book for my iPad for years. The magnetic hinge gave up on the previous one, so I replaced it with this one. It protects my iPad just as well as the old one did. But using the keypad is different. My old Rugged Book was very quiet; the new model is quite noisy. The keys actually click and clack when typing. It’s distracting to others around me when I’m taking notes in a meeting, especially, it seems, to people who use hearing aids. Bring back the quiet keyboard, please!!

Definitely a good value
Right now I use my iPad many hours a day, carrying it around inside and outside the house. With this case, I can feel confident of the safety of the tablet inside, as well as quickly type whatever I like. The keyboard detaches so easily that if I don’t want it, it’s no problem. Sorry I didn’t buy this model the first time I got a Zagg keyboard/case.

I had recently bought my 3rd Rugged Book. The first two started skipping letters randomly while typing. This last one worked about 2 weeks and the battery died and wouldn’t charge. After contacting Zagg, I was to receive a replacement after mailing the defaulted one back. Later received an email that the Rugged Book is out of production and sent me a return label and would receive a full refund.

I love this new Zagg Rugged Book. It is a great product while it lasts. After a few years, the rubber starts disintegrating and it starts falling apart piece by piece! Still, I bought another one b/c this is just so convenient. I'm waiting for them to make this from different materials hope it will not fall apart, like the other two have.

I've previously used the Zagg Rugged MESSENGER for many years, and very much prefer the "touch" of the keyboard on it to the keyboard on the Rugged Book. The Rugged MESSENGER seems to now be out of production/unavailable for this particular iPad (6th generation), so I've switched to the Rugged Book. There's no place for my Apple Pencil (as there was on the MESSENGER), and the feel of the keyboard is "cheap" by comparison, but it's good enough for my purposes -- protects my iPad, and allows me to type instead of "pretend type" on the screen.

One negative.....had trouble pairing the keyboard to my tablet. Your instructions omitted one step which I discovered on the internet. Once the iPad found the Zagg one needs to press the bluetooth key again to connect. Otherwise, it's all good.

My second one
This is the second Rugged Book I have had. The first one got lots of use and I guess I just wore it out; the hinge finally wore out.
When I received the new one, I liked the new design of the outside, and my first thought on the keyboard was that the changes there were sexy. BUT…I preferred the backlighting of the keyboard on the previous one to the letters being lit on the current one. My biggest disappointment however is with the touch on the keyboard. It is still an easy and responsive keyboard to type on, and as a very fast typist I love that, however the new one is quite loud and “clacky.” Sometimes I take notes at events in an app on the iPad. I won’t be able to do that now, as the sound of typing would be quite annoying to anyone nearby. I don’t even like how loud it is when I am by myself, but it is definitely distracting if I am working while my husband is reading or watching tv. Really annoying. Don’t know why that part was changed, but I’m not stoked at all.

This is my 3rd Rugged Book keyboard. The first one lasted 3 years but the second one lasted only 1 year because in a sanitation frenzy due to the Corona virus, I sprayed the keyboard with Windex. Thus, it was my fault that it stopped working. I'm sure this one will last a long time. It's a great keyboard and the cover turns your iPad into a small laptop computer. It's bullet proof. Just be sure to spray Windex on a rag and then wipe the keyboard!

Sehr Robust und erfüllt alle meine Erwartungen wenn das Gewicht auch etwas schwerer als Erwartet ausfällt. Guter Rundum Schutz.
Zur Tastatur:
Super Anschlag und Tastengrösse sowie Abstand sind auch für meine Grossen Hände ideal. Seit dieser Tastaturhülle nutze ich mein Laptop kaum noch. Ich arbeite Sowieso mit allem aus der Cloud das Dokumente, PDFs; Exel, Word, Fotos, Bildbearbeitung usw eh von allen meinen Geräten aus geht. Ich liebe sie. Sollte sie mal kaputt gehen werde ich sie wieder kaufen !!!
Gewöhnungsbedürftig ist das @ Zeichen das bei dieser Tastatur auf dem L liegt und nicht wie Üblich auf dem Q.
Aber nach 2 Tagen sitzt das auch :)
Bin sehr zufrieden.
Benutzt habe ich die Hülle nur mit meinem IPad 5 ...

This is my third Rugged Book for my iPad Pro Air 2. My first one had the pocket hinge that broke and was replaced under warranty. I liked the warranty replacement as it did not have the pocket hinge. Instead, it had a sturdy flap for holding the iPad open. Unfortunately, the keyboard quit working so I had to purchase another Rugged Book. The third Rugged Book again has the pocket hinge which I don't like. However, I am consciously opening the Rugged Book by placing pressure on the hinge to keep it from breaking. NOT IMPRESSED!

Lovin' my Zagg Rugged Book
I have always paired my iPads with a bluetooth keyboard, after trying a couple others I came to the Zagg Folio and was real pleased, But i am rough on the cases (always seeming to drop them, etc.) and after replacing a couple of them went with a less expensive option. I was still just as rough, still having to replace the case. This last time, i came across the Rugged Book... and i think i have may have met a case that is going to be as tough as i am rough.

I really like my Zagg rugged keyboard. I definitely would recommend it. It was easy to pair with my iPad. I like simple. My only complaint, if you want to call it that. I would have liked to have color options. But, I’m good. Also, I like the weight.

I had to buy a second Zagg keyboard for one iPad because the battery failed wile my iPad still has life remaining. It makes no sense to market a fine keyboard for the iPad which has a life that incompatible with of the iPad it is purchased with. Now my iPad will end its life and I’ll have to throw away the Zagg keyboard because it won’t be compatible with my next iPad. A truly foolish design, marketing, and customer relations flaw.

This is awesome! It is heavy but this product is so strong and sturdy, I couldn't break it if I tried. I use it to do applications and hand the screen to the client to sign on the iPad. This constant use broke the stand and or keyboard for every other product I tried. This has not broken and the keyboard continues to work properly with the constant use. Thanks!!

Although it protects my purchase the one thing it lacks is lighted keyboard. The power button is the only one that illuminate, the other feature I would add is a stand on the back of the top so when is separates from keyboard it can be used as it is still connected .

The new Rugged book fits the iPad better. On the old one the volume buttons did not fit well into the RB cover, the generous opening allows access to the buttons and prevents inadvertent volume changes. Also the new cover has opening for all of the sensors on the iPad.

This is my third rugged book. I am very hard on my electronics because they are used for work. That being said I have never wanted for another lighted keyboard- protective case. Ever!
This is the only product is will ever use for my IPad. With this third case Zagg has made some changes/upgrades.
The keys still feel great, pressure and tactile feel are fantastic and slightly better. The Illumination is much brighter than my other two. The run time has improved also. Just leave it on and don’t worry about it. When it wakes up it is way faster than previous editions and applies the letters correctly.
The magnetic hinge has been improved as well. Much smoother as well.
Subtitle key face changes have improved productivity.
This being my third case really says nothing bad about Zagg, like I said “I use them.” I consider the case and keyboard as a consumable. They are going to break just like anything that gets used a whole lot.
Customer service is still top notch also. You will not be disappointed with this Rugged Book.

It fits the IPad well. The key board is very easy to use and setup. The only thing I don’t care for is how stiff the hinge is. The IPad tries to pop out when I open the case, it is nice once it’s open since it stays put, but it seems a little stiff to me.

Great for Travel
My wife and I both have iPad Pro’s and when we travel we like to take these with us much like most peopled do with their personal laptop computers. We bought the iPad Pro because of their size but the last time we traveled my screen cracked because the case was not strong enough to protect it. So we bought the Rugged Book for our iPad Pro 9.7 and it is perfect.

Great Protection
This Zagg cover for my iPad provides great protection for accidental drops and bumps. The keyboard is amazing as it turns your iPad into a mine computer allowing me to quickly type answers to emails, chats, and texting. Additionally, I have used this in class to take notes allowing me to capture much more than my handwritten notes would record.

I had a lighter weight folio-style case that performed well with just one caveat. The holding clips in the case are a lightweight rigid plastic that simply don't stand the test of time. They are all breaking and the case could not be considered dependable to safeguard my device.
This rugged book case is so much more secure and I feel more confident in its ability to keep my device safe. A bit heavier for sure, but very versatile and functions well after a quick pairing via Bluetooth. Very happy so far.

1. When attached to the iPad Pro Mini, the Zagg rugged cover drains the Mini battery in less than 1.5 hours when closed.
2. The pictures I saw on line shows that the keyboard can be used freestanding with the screen propped up. In fact, there is no way to prop up the screen when it is not attached to the cover.

Can’t get answer to my e-mails and it is impossible to speak to someone so I am out $145 which I can least afford so I am unhappy about that. Absolute BEST lighted background keyboard!
I’ve had 5 of these Zagg Rugged’s on full size and mini iPads and love them! (Yes I’ve tried others!). I’m 77 and 6’3” 220 lbs with big hands! I learned to type on a Underwood & Remington typewriter (before there were electric typewriters in our school in the early 1960). The Zagg allows me to have the feeling of a full keyboard for speed and accuracy…(I’m not the fastest in the world but 60-70 wpm is not too bad at my age!…and certainly beats hunt & peck by a long shot!). Anyway, I’ve dropped them many times and they did protect my iPad and kept right on working! You won’t be disappointed…IMHO!!

I have followed Zagg since they started with the clam case. Never purchased before but kept on the newsletter list. A great deal came through for the rugged iPad case and keyboard. Ok, I will buy it—my first purchase with Zagg.
I noticed a language option in the product details and contacted support to find out if it relates to keyboard layout or something else (The attribute "Keyboard Layout" would seem more descriptive!). After a 24+ hour wait for an answer switching between posting a message through one support option after another to try and get a timely response, I was assured they were all "QWERTY" keyboards, so I happily placed an order.
It arrived...its a "QWERTZ" keyboard whhhhattt? But I was assured by the makers that it would arrive "QWERTY". That's ok I will just teach myself to type different with the 'Y' and the 'Z' keys in opposite places that's not annoying in the slightest.
Yes, it is. So I find a number to call. After a half an hour conversation, the support staff says assures me will get back to me ASAP with a resolution.
"Diary Entry from iPad Maz 16th 2020: It has now been two weeks since I lost contact with YAGG. I fear they maz have all perished. I almost gave up hope zesterdaz as I still have not been able to reconcile with the y and the z being in the wrong place."
My takeaway the products are cool, but the support is shambolic and unprofessional. So after years of following ZAGG my buying experiences was rubbish, what a disappointment.

Definitely a good value
Right now I use my iPad many hours a day, carrying it around inside and outside the house. With this case, I can feel confident of the safety of the tablet inside, as well as quickly type whatever I like. The keyboard detaches so easily that if I don’t want it, it’s no problem. Sorry I didn’t buy this model the first time I got a Zagg keyboard/case.

This is not my first Zagg Rugged Case but it is, by far, the best design! Of course, it is functional... always a feature.. this one is also a great design. The new color and the slots instead of a hinge that could (and did) break down, over time. I’m delighted with the the Pro Keys!
One area for improvement: Add a note in the Quick Start Guide indicating that a charging cord is NOT included. In the Charging Your Keyboard section it says “Plug the Tyoe-C end of the charging cable into the keyboard....”. i looked and looked in the packaging for the cable before calling Zagg Support. The very professional representative told the cable was no longer included. Not a problem, just confusion and wasted time.

Works very well for my ipad
My ipad is older and my Apple keyboard wasn’t working. I didn’t want to invest the money for a new Apple Smart keyboard which was very lightweight for use in my lap. I use my ipad a lot in the evening while watching TV and it is in my lap. So, the ZAGG keyboard works very well. It is quick to the touch, wakes up quickly, and no complaints with performance. I will have to charge it at some point which I didn’t have to do with my Smart Keyboard. My only complaint is it is more protection and weight than I like. My lightweight ipad now weighs a lot more with this heavy case, which I didn’t care about. But it solved my problem and hopefully will last the remaining life of my iPad Pro 9.7.

The Good wand the Bad
I have purchased 6 Zagg Key Boards for my I pads, moat recently an Air 2. Zagg has replaced one of those...thank you. I like all the features of the Rugged. Particularly the back lit keyboard! The keyboards are better than my laptop keyboard. But.....I am concerned about hinge failure which has been a problem with all the Zagg keyboards I have purchased. The hinged keyboard add so much flexibility and versatility to its use that I would spend more money for one that would quarantee the hinges. I like the products and my purchase history speaks for itself.

This keyboard is rugged, and reliable- but just not enough magnets to hold it in place. The weight of the keyboard and the size of the ipad makes it really difficult for it to stay on. Never had this kind of issue with smaller ipad and rugged keyboard.

This One Fits Poorly
I have owned a Rugged Book since I bought my iPad Pro 9.7 a couple ago.
I had difficulty one day getting the keyboard to work, and I had set aside the instructions for setting it up.
I purchased another Rugged Book for my iPad Pro 9.7.
Unfortunately. This particular Rugged Book seems to be built a poorly. Once installed, the recharge port is not properly aligned, so plugging into it is a problem.
I plan to see if I can return it for an exchange to another ZAGG.

This is a fantastic case with a very good keyboard. The hinge is stiff enough for normal use and the keyboard is good to type on.
The only downside is that the keyboard flexes a bit when typing, which is a minor issue but something to improve on nevertheless.

Pros - substantial protection, great keyboard and tactile feel, easy to install IPad, very easy to remove IPad in its protective case from the Keyboard at the hinge
Cons - stiff hinge when changing angle. I’ve only had it for a few days and don’t often close the case, so this may change. Heavy case, but for me this isn’t an issue because I don’t currently travel with it.

Battery Issues & representations
1. When attached to the iPad Pro Mini, the Zagg rugged cover drains the Mini battery in less than 1.5 hours when closed.
2. The pictures I saw on line shows that the keyboard can be used freestanding with the screen propped up. In fact, there is no way to prop up the screen when it is not attached to the cover.

Solid and Reliable
I have had this only a month or so. Still working well. Blue Tooth connection is quick. Key action is good. Looks good. I am willing to put up with the extra weight for the assurance of greater safety.

VERY Rugged
Was not thinking it would be that "rugged" compared to my former Zagg which was clean and minimalist. This could likely withstand being run over or at least looks the part...... Feel protect although a bit large and clunky.

This is my second Rugged Book and I hope it lasts longer than the last one. I used it a LOT but it decided to not stay together so the back was always coming off. But they are rugged and well made. Has lots of features too. Great for use with my iPad Pro..

Absolute BEST lighted background keyboard!
I've had 5 of these Zagg Rugged's on full size and mini iPads and love them! (Yes I've tried others!). I'm 77 and 6'3†220 lbs with big hands! I learned to type on a Underwood & Remington typewriter (before there were electric typewriters in our school in the early 1960). The Zagg allows me to have the feeling of a full keyboard for speed and accuracy…(I'm not the fastest in the world but 60-70 wpm is not too bad at my age!…and certainly beats hunt & peck by a long shot!). Anyway, I've dropped them many times and they did protect my iPad and kept right on working! You won't be disappointed…IMHO!!

My second one
This is the second Rugged Book I have had. The first one got lots of use and I guess I just wore it out; the hinge finally wore out.
When I received the new one, I liked the new design of the outside, and my first thought on the keyboard was that the changes there were sexy. BUT…I preferred the backlighting of the keyboard on the previous one to the letters being lit on the current one. My biggest disappointment however is with the touch on the keyboard. It is still an easy and responsive keyboard to type on, and as a very fast typist I love that, however the new one is quite loud and “clacky.†Sometimes I take notes at events in an app on the iPad. I won't be able to do that now, as the sound of typing would be quite annoying to anyone nearby. I don't even like how loud it is when I am by myself, but it is definitely distracting if I am working while my husband is reading or watching tv. Really annoying. Don't know why that part was changed, but I'm not stoked at all.

The rugged book has protected my iPad from certain destruction and I will remain grateful for that. I love having the keyboard but mine have failed after about a year. Each yearly replacement was due to keyboard failure. For the record… I use this thing constantly all day every day.

Much needed replacement!!
This is the fifth Zagg cover purchased for my family’s iPads. Despite the age of my iPad Air, 1st generation, is still works well and I was in dire need of a Bluetooth keyboard case!! The Rugged Book was exactly what the doctor ordered.
