When I unplug the dock from my laptop and plug it back in, the monitor settings rarely save and I have difficulties changing them to how I want them. Also, since I've been using this docking station, I've been having difficulties with my mouse scrolling. I've deleted the wireless mouse and used different ports between my laptop and the dock and it only saves briefly.

Just what I needed and worked like a charm to set up 2 monitors at my desktop, and its an easy one step cable switch to connect my XPS laptop and have 2 additional screens. I have 3 monitors in my work office and trying to work from home with one monitor and my laptop was maddening. Great solution and upgrade. Recommended!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not worth the price if your laptop is new. No USB-C PD doesn't really make sense these days -I assumed this had it but it does not. Additionally the USB-C cable it ships with is junk. After switching to a good USB-C cable, it works as it should. Since it uses its own video card it doesn't gain anything from the Laptop's video capabilities -which if it is for an older/under powered system is convenient, it is less great if the laptop has great video card functionality that isn't getting to shine. The VT4500 has PD but Dell doesn't seem to carry it. I won't buy another of these.

No fuzziness, no issues with sudden changes in resolution upon connecting, nothing. My 2k displays look great and there are plenty of USB ports as well. Well worth the asking price, in my opinion.

I had another device that didn't have an input for speakers, and was two USB ports shy of what I use. With this one I have a couple extra USB ports, which opened up a space to keep a charger for my phone. I haven't had any glitches other than it took a couple times for my speaker and microphone to default how I wanted (that was probably PC issue for not remembering though. I have also noticed less delay on my monitors compared to the previous docking station. It would be nice if it charged my laptop, but that wasn't really a big requirement for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It does the job I don't have any prior experience with a docking station, but I needed something to leave at my workspace to keep a monitor, external hard drive, usb from wireless mouse, camera card reader, etc all plugged into as my new MacBook Pro has the usb-c connection so its easier to just have one adapter to connect the usb from the docking station and keep everything else plugged into that. I had to download a driver off their website and buy another cable I needed, but it was all very easy to set up and has made my life easier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great technology I use the device to connect two 4k uhd tv's - then I use the laptop hdmi port to my Harman Kardon 7.2 surround system adding two more HD tv's. The device allows me to have 4 tv's from my new Dell Inspiron (2-n-1 4k i7 special edition) laptop. Great laptop with cinema spectacular and gaming built-in with the nvidia 2gb card. I duplicate one display and extend the other three monitors, which makes for a great theater system with built-in digital audio/video output. Oh, and I use it to charge my cell phone, which I can mirror or transfer files> It also works with my IPAD> Samsung Galaxy tab> and other accessories/computing devices. I also use it for two hd (8tb and 1tb) external drives. There's a many capabilities and offers great flexibility to build your own entertainment system. also, works best with 4k uhd hdmi hdcp 2.2 cables. I also also added usb A 3.1 3- port extension device, along with two 7 port usb A 2.0 devices with o/n switches. It's a great device that adds power, access, and performance to use a variety of utilitarian devices from my Laptop Workstation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic for Dual Monitors, Bottleneck for Multiple USB-3.0 SSD's Overall, nice unit. Packaging and look is impressive. Dual HD 1080p HDMI connected monitors display perfectly. While it accepts USB 3.1, its internal 3.0 will create a bit of a bottleneck when attempting to, say, play 1080p video from two SSD sources connected to two of its USB 3.0 ports to the two monitors. Take into account that there is also a fast Ethernet connection operating at the same time. Setup is effortless, except for the Ethernet connection. The LAN signal was ignored until a software update, which required a call to support to locate on the VisionTEK site. VisionTEK's support chat was quick and responsive, but required some back and forth via email as well. When moving data from one USB 3.0 SSD to another, transfer speeds will suffer if two monitors and Ethernet are also connected, even when connected to a USB-C 3.1 computer port, due to limitations of its internal USB 3.0. Using another USB 3.0 dock connected to another USB 3.0 computer port for data transfers between SSD drives is recommended for 3.0 speed transfers. Over-all, a very nice unit, especially as a dual monitor solution and direct Ethernet connection, with connection via USB-C. Used with a Dell Inspiron 7773.

The video quality was poor and choppy during motion. Updated all drivers and firmware, unit never worked correctly, returned it to Dell

Love that it does not require anything special from the computer (I have had docking stations where the laptop needs to be physically docked, requiring a special laptop). Performs as expected; it is nice having the multiple display outputs allowing me to hook up to multiple monitors. I think the biggest drawback is the lack of available USB ports. If you take into account a USB keyboard and mouse, that leaves 2 USB ports to use for other external items. If you take one for something like a DVD reader, and one for a printer, you are left with no other USB ports. Granted I can use ones on the laptop, but it would be nice to have a couple more on the docking station. All around, this is a good docking station that could be better.

I split time between two office's, one of which has no network ports, so I needed something that would allow me to easily get my laptop up and running when I come into the office. The VisionTek has been great. It took less than five minutes to set up, takes up a tiny amount of space, and simplifies my set up process immensely!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not a Bad Dock - It works on MacOS Let me first say that it works on a Mac, albiet with a few caveats. My setup: I'm using the VT1000 with a 2017 Macbook Pro running OS10.13, hooked to an extended desktop 4k monitor (3840 x 2160 native resolution). I'm using a USB to Thunderbolt adapter to make the main connection to the dock. I did need to download and install the driver software from the Visiontek website. It also installed a system preference called "DisplayLinkUserAgent". After a restart the dock was recognized. The USB and ethernet ports functioned as expected. The display port connection to my Samsung 4k monitor eventually flickered to life, but it was only working as a 'mirrored desktop'. After a quick search of the Visiontek support website I found that the extended desktop mode needs to go thru Apple Airplay. Once that was enabled I was able to get the monitor to work as an extended desktop. This dock is a 2K resolution, which means maximum 2560x1440pixels. It's not the sharpest image, and the Airplay workaround is a minor hassle, but it does work. I do appreaciate the noslip coating on the bottom of the dock, and the packaging was clean and easy to open. Overall, I'm satified with the performance of the VT1000 dock.

After a few google and YouTube searches, I found that other people had solved the issue by using USB 2.0 vice USB 3.0 cables but only 3.0 cables are included with the docking station. This is allegedly due to a software mismatch between the docking station and the Windows operating system. Once proper cables were obtained, the docking station works great.

After further research, I saw on the VisionTek website that it doesn't. Wish I hadn't relied on Dell to give me the right answer. The device, itself, was super easy to use. So if not supplying power is not an issue, I would definitely recommend.

I just payed the Tuesday, got the package on Friday morning, opened the package, connected cables, bingo! Easy like this, no problems since that time. I have notebook HP Elitebook 840 G6 with Windows 10 and two Displays ASUS VG245 HY different other equipment connected to usb ports. Everything is working correct. The notebook consumes more power that docking station may supply, so it is connected to its own power supply as well. Sad things, just to make some critics. Is it possible to add self unpack and connect option to this device? Also, this could prepare a cup of cappuccino and bring it directly to my bed, and welcome audio message “Hi my dear I’m at home” miss me personally :

Having the extra USB capacity and option for 2 more screens all going through one cable is exactly what is needed for any laptop. Desktop real estate is always an issue but if you combine the cables into spiral cable wraps it becomes neater and more easily managed. I'm still debating over the horizontal versus vertical in terms of the docking station but one good thing with the horizontal is that it will never tip over or be knocked over. So far, throughput is not an issue and I have an external mic, external hard drive, USB mouse, USB Keyboard, and one HDMI screen attached. Even with all that I still have 2 spare USB slots for anything else.

I have ask my husband to figure out what could be the problem. We finally figured it out. However, the dock causes my entire computer to lock up and it crashed and freezes. I think this one don't match with my computer.

I had to call vision tek to find out. I would recommend since it works for fine but I would tell them that it doesn't have the on & off feature

I had to unplug everything and reconnect it for it to work. I plan to call Dell when it does it again and see what is wrong. No since calling if it is working.

However, that is my fault and the dock works great for it's intended purpose. I love all of the USB ports it has and it pushes the audio and video just fine.

It was a very easy setup with my two monitors, mouse, keyboard (both usb), and power cord. It is also very compact and fits between my two monitors (about 9 inches long). I recommend this unit!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as advertised! Using with my new Alienware X17 and a Samsung 32" curved screen monitor at work... plugged it in, fired it up and bingo! Also connected an additional 17" Samsung monitor to test out the second monitor port... no problems noted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from VisionTek VT4000 Dock 4K USB Docking Station. Very Well Made Works like it should. Love the many High Speed USB ports. Upfront audio ports are a plus also. Like the size of the dock as you can put light items on top and it very well made.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from How many monitors do you need Neat little device. I was hoping that you could have 4 monitors hooked into it, 2 HDMI and 2 DP. However those ports are shared, otherwise, its a really good serial extender.
