Tripp Lite's SMART1500LCDT Line-Interactive Tower UPS System offers voltage regulation, surge suppression and long-lasting battery support for personal computers, network workstations, home entertainment systems and media centers. Internal UPS circuits support entry-level PCs or individual VCR/DVR components during power failures. Prevents data loss, viewing interruptions, lost recordings and loss of component programming.
Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) circuits continuously regulate brownouts and overvoltages from 92V to 150V back to usable levels, all while maintaining a full battery charge. Offers complete power protection in an attractive all-black cabinet design. Includes 10 built-in outlets, 5 with full battery backup and surge suppression for vital system components and another 5 with surge-suppression only for accessories not requiring battery support. Built-in USB port and included cable enables optional unattended system shutdown without data loss in case of extended power failure. HID-compliant USB interface also enables integration with built-in power management and auto shutdown features of Windows and Mac OS X.
Built-in dataline surge suppression jacks protect equipment with single-line dialup/DSL or network Ethernet connection. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Value The price was right. Item arrived in a fraction of the estimated time. Installation was simple and easy. Product registration was easy. The unit reports that there will be plenty of available runtime to safely shut down in case of a power failure. I haven't given it 5 stars because I just installed it so I haven't witnessed its performance and it doesn't come with Apple Mac compatible software. Although I'm probably better off sticking with the power management software included with the Mac OS.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Almost perfect I have purchased many Tripp Lite products in the past and they have always been very high quality and to date not a single one has failed or broken. The same can be said for this UPS. it is extremely well built, super easy to setup and while large isn't too bad (and to be expected as I got a larger battery capacity model). I didn't bother installing their software and I prefer to just have Windows Power Management handle it. All this though I had to take 1 star off as I have found a big over site in the product, that very well might not be an issue for you. The LCD's backlight cannot be turned off. I contacted Tripplite's support to see if there was a way and they said that there was not. I have mine in a bedroom so at night it is REALLY bright and it's blue light so for me disturbs my sleep. I've resolved it by covering it with a piece of paper, but really this should have been an obvious feature that should have been there as it not only is annoying and bright, but also is a waste of power to be on all the time. The unit is solid and I have zero doubt though that it will last and be reliable for years to come based off my experience with their other products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doesn't work automatically I have a low load - no more than a few hundred watts. When I pull the power plug the UPS dies, but can be resurrected by pushing the button in front. But that's a problem - I always have to be there when the power goes out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works with BIOS start after power failure YMMV Put this on a customer's DVR which is a Windows PC. Was able to set the UPS to shutdown the DVR OS at a certain remaining power level on UPS battery, and then to shut UPS off. Tested by unplugging UPS from wall socket. When UPS is plugged back in, it comes back on and socket on UPS is online, having BIOS DVR/PC set to come on after power restored from power failure has DVR computer power back on. Even if you shut down the OS on Windows DVR programmatically, the DVR BIOS can tell when the power to DVR's power supply is cycled. In other words I can confirm setting DVR/PC BIOS to come back on still allows you to shut down from PC from the OS. It will stay off until the power to the power supply is cycled (or start button pressed). This is important in my case because the customer's PC has a locked case with the start button inside the locked case door. This was tested with a Windows 10 PC (ASUS MB), and the DVR which is a Windows 8 PC (Gigabyte MB) YMMV.

I am replacing all of my UPS protection in my home on computers, entertainment setups and yes our new Pellet Stove. Must people don't think about a Pellet Stove, but when the power goes out, you need to allow the blowers on the stove to run at least 10 to 15 minutes after you shut down the stove. If not, you can fill a room or house with smoke that should be going out the chimney. No TRIP•LITE, say hello to your smoke detectors, possible smoke damage and the local fire department!

Situated in an area where frequent natural lightning, local browning or plain lack of electricity at the most unexpected time forced me to invested in those extra units. Where I'm using this unit for, this is the third unit I'm installing in 7 years. I had other brands before this Tripp Lite. They died too early to my taste. I've been using Tripp Lite units in the four years at other stations and they survive better the frequent outage in my area. Today I opted again for this specific unit to keep my office networking devices on when we expect them to be on.

We have intermittent interruptions of power and this will alleviate that problem. It should keep the computer up and running for about 20 minutes and if there is a longer interruption, the software will gracefully shutdown the computer. Fast and efficient delivery.

Unpacked and plugged it up to find that it was bad. .. Alarming overload with nothing plugged into it. Now Tripp Lite is giving me the runaround about replacing it or giving me a refund. I'M DONE WITH TRIPP LITE!!! Once again you may paid a little more for quality but it pays off in the longrun. I will return to purchasing APC products, they will stand behind their products without problems such as this.

Often all three printers are running at the same time and all are plugged into our Tripp-Lite Model 1500LCDT unit. We have had a number of storms recently in Florida and power surges and outages have occurred in the past week. Every time this happened the Tripp-Lite performed flawlessly and kept our expensive 3D Printers from being fried.

I use my UPS for ALL of my radio gear and it is excellent. During normal power it maintains an even voltage and filtered, and in times when under emergency power keeps my gear running long enough for me to switch over to generator power. Plenty of both back up and filtered outlets. The LED panel provides ample of information, and the computer interface is very good. The only drawback is there is not way of adding additional batteries for extended time frame.

I live in a rural area in a metal building (Barndominium) and get zero cell signal with no power. We had a tornado come through a couple days ago and the power was out for a few hours. My family and I were able to continue to monitor the weather and make phone calls.

I continue to recommend Tripp-Lite as a Realtor. I sell homes to medium to high end clients and they all have expensive equipent that needs protecting. I use the 1300VA to protect my in-home server, NAS, router and cable modem. I cannnot afford problems with my Internet service since it supplies all my data and voice services. I highly recommend this product and all Tripp-Lite equipment. Great products!

I like how compact it is as well as the network capability. The user interface through USB was not very user friendly to use, but I did figure it out. I ran into some trouble in the past with monitoring the load and battery life on backup devices, and with this model it's very easy to notice these details. The only downside for me is that the fan can be a bit noisy, especially at night.

I had a power outage the day I plugged it in and set it up. It ran for an hour and a half or so before exhausted (about what I would have guessed for the load). and then shut down (the outtage was more than 24 hours). When the power came back on it came up on its own and everything started back up and the batteries were charged up quickly. I really like the display as it is helpful to see the loading and predicted run time. I'm very happy with it.

I tried with 2 other computer same problem. The battery itself is really good but if a power drop occur the computer will not shutdown because of a software driver problem... I'm not the only one with that problem. Be aware if you buy it.

We are prone to power loss in the winter and this gives me plenty of time to safely continue a download and then shut down the system with no loss of data. Rated 5 out of 5 by from I have bought a lot of surge UPS, now I only buy Tripplite The Tripplite's last me longer in my hot/cold environment (with 1 or 2 battery changes) while other off brands are 1/3 of the time and the big name brand is 1/2 of the Tripplite life. I also find Tripplite quotes and lives up to a much faster response time. Other UPS brands leave my computers rebooting after a power loss. The whole reason I have UPS is to prevent computer shut downs/reboots, so no wonder I buy Tripplite.

Recently bought the SmartPro UPS (to replace another brand) and am very disappointed that the Power Alert software does not work with my current KVm (not a Tripp-lite brand) and the help desk seemed to write it off as 'hardware incompatibility'. So, I bought a newTripp-Lite KVM (B004-VUA2-K-R) and it does not work either. Same symptoms as before. Currently, I am challenging the help desk to get the two Tripp-Lite products to work together!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would probable buy again. Triplite Smart Pro LCD 900W UPS: This UPS provides a good amount of power for the price compared to competitors. Additional items that I like include the LCD display, providing a snap shot of information such as output wattage and ability to change out batteries when they die rather than throw entire system away. The only thing that is a bit irritating is a smell, such as hot components. The unit is warm to the touch, so not sure of issue. I keep a can of air freshener near me and that seems to clear the air for a while. I deducted one star for the smell.

I only use 5 of the outlets and have had no real issues with it. I recently moved where it is at and went to plug something else in and found that the other 5 outlets (on the battery backup side) were not working. I was not sure if there was a problem so I contacted tech support. After a couple emails back and forth I found out it was as simple as pressing the one button on it. Since I have not used that side I never realized I had not put it online. In the end this unit still works great and all my devices have worked fine since I started using it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Too Soon For Me to Tell If This Product is Reliable I purchased this UPS from Tripp-Lite to replace an old Aye Pee Sea Smart UPS 650 V/S unit that was trashing its battery - basically overcharging it. The battery would last a little over two years and then it would be dead. In fact, I had to bend and distort the metal framework around the battery compartment to get the battery out, as it was swollen so much that there was no other way to get it out! Now, the load that it was supporting is small, only an iMac. So the SmartPro LCD 1500 VA replacement is a bit of overkill. In fact, I thought the unit was faulty because it displayed a load of 0.0% and 0.0 Watts! After plugging in a 60 Watt lamp, it now shows 11% and 99 Watts. The only downside that I find with this unit is its smell. Even when I first opened the box, I could smell an off-gassing, kind of sulfurous, "electronic" smell. I suspect it comes from some kind of RTV component glue in its electronics. I powered the unit up anyway, tested it, and it seems to work - it gives me 77 minutes of battery support time. But the smell, although diminished, is still being emitted after almost two weeks running. I did want to use Power Alert Local Software to initiate an auto shutdown of my iMac, and this was the other reason I bought a Tripp-Lite, and not another brand (I could not find any other that had iOS-compatible software). Notwithstanding, Tripp-Lite's info doesn't specifically say it will work with an iOS-based system; although, it does say it is compatible with a Linix-based system (on which iOS is built). But the installation is complicated, and not for a novice to attempt. Time will tell if the UPS treats its batteries with respect, and they last for more than a couple of years.

Wish I could turn off the display, the battery is in my bedroom and I have to manually cover the bright blue screen at night.

I compared a number units and, based on brand recognition, positive reviews, price and features settled on this. I consulted my brother, an Electrical Engineer, who seconded my opinion. It has been trouble free so far and I am not expecting that to change.

When it came time to replace the battery, I decided to upgrade and get a UPS that shows input / output voltage (in addition to other readings) as a replacement. I have been very happy with the results and the ease of use. I like that it comes with a solid warranty and is a product that is well respected in the market space.

My new SmartPro hardly flinches, even though I have the PC, monitor, external drives and printer connected to it. I love having the LED for a quick look but also the detail software for a closer look at what is going on with the power in my home. it was definitely worth the purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Power To The People I use this UPS and its PowerAlert software to backup the home computer operation. It couldn't be easier to set up. The manual is well written and the tech support is timely; both a plus. Being a new installation I have had no occasion to see the UPS perform under power loss conditions other than what I could do manually to test the system. There have been a few glitches in the power line with no noticeable affects at the output. I chose the system to deliberately be more than what I need, i.e., 900 watt source to power a nominal 140 watt computer system. Doing this gives approximately 45 minutes of operation during a power outage instead of the normal 3-4 minutes at full power usage. The management software is easy enough to use, and written in Java. It might be improved if something like an HTML 5 webpage were used instead.

I've used Tripp Lite products in the past, and I've always been impressed their quality. Setup was easy, although I thought that it didn't work at first because the LCD was lit up, but there was no power; I soon discovered that I had to turn it on! I like the fact that I can replace the batteries and liked the fact they were partially charged out-of-the-box. It has a USB connection to my computer, which Windows 10 automatically recognized when I plugged it in. I'm running the "local" version of the software, but I found I had to reboot the computer before the software would recognize the UPS. It's unclear whether it performs an auto shutdown when the power fails.

The peace of mind that this is provided me is priceless. it is spectacular I am relaxed now I don't have to worry about what if the power goes out today I'm at ease. I recommend this product for anybody with electrical sensitive equipment that they do not want to lose forever due to power outages or power surges period well worth the money spent.

After looking at different brands and reviews as well as my personal experience I decided to go with Tripp Lite for a new UPS. I live in an area where we have some pretty severe storms in the summer, so I am in need of a good UPS with voltage regulation. So far it has been working flawlessly. I like its display and the information that is available on it and that it is quiet.

I use this to provide backup power to my home theater set up, which consist of a home-built computer, a 4TB WD External Drive and a 49" LG TV. We regularly have Zoom meetings using this setup. So having a momentary power outage would be a problem. I also have UPS devices for my router & modem, so the connection stays solid regardless of the electric supply status. I tested the unit by pulling the plug, and everything kept on humming along. When I plugged it back in, the computer automatically started to shut down. Configuring the Tripp-lite software is not entirely intuitive, and I clearly have some adjustments to make. I am greatly relieved the unit alarm can be set to silent!

I had a power outage a few days back where my laptop/display were not on - I woke up with the power outage and the first thing I did was to look at the UPS - it had 96 minutes left - I could not tell for how long the outage was going on. When the power came back, I saw the unit going back to its normal state and the battery was charging .I like the product so far - What I do not like is a smell that releases. I have to keep my windows open - Let me know what that is please

UPS charged in a few hours, windows monitoring software installed fast and provided good data on power draw, battery charge, and running power time. UPS tested fine and I'll have close to 35 minutes of runtime from battery power. All this with a 3 year warranty. Happy with my purchase and UPS options prior to purchase.

However, it does not work well with amateur radio applications especially at 7 MHz and below. I tried to filter the attach the cables using 2.4 Inch #31 ferrite toroids with little or no effect. The battery charging circuit radiates RF noise from within the unit. I contacted support and we determined that it was indeed the battery charging circuit, however the battery charging circuit is always on when there is commercial AC power input. Support did not want to assist in mitigating the noise other than suggesting that I move the unit further away from my antenna. So, when I operate on 80 M and 40 m I will pull the AC plug out so it goes into Power output mode and is much quieter that way.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does not work with Network UPS Tools (NUT) for Linux + Ten outlets, five on the battery side with extra room on two for wall-wart plug packs. - There is a NUT driver for a similar (older) product, but this newer serial does not work with the USB drivers for the NUT Linux software unfortunately. - The physical meter for watts consumed does not work when the unit is on AC power. When on AC, the Watts display shows 0.0w, and only runs as expected when you switch to battery backup. This is limiting because it would be nice to know how much energy your devices use normally so you can plan how long your battery life will be. I use a Kill-A-Watt to measure my watt load instead. + Price for a 900W UPS is very reasonable. Got mine off the egg, I think for windows users it would be more cost-effective since there is Tripp-Lite software available. Same software is for Fedora or OpenSUSE users, I haven't tried yet on my Fedora machine, maybe I can do a work-around to have it talk to my OpenMediaVault machine.

Neither...the UPS marked battery replacement needed, and when I got the new batteries (exactly the same type and brand from the one it came with) the Ups didnt started no more. Wrote to the technical support, and still waiting the response. I have to buy another Ups, but its gonna be the right brand, not this thing again. Too bad it baned my original message with all the words I really want to say.

Not anymore, the day we had a city power outage I had to switch to an emergency generator. All UPS's went into alarm except my Tripp-Lite. The problem was all the other UPS's would not accept the unstable frequency (hertz) from my generator which was not an old generator. I put a frequency meter on the output of the Tripp-Lite and found it to be steady and on frequency and voltage. Al M. in Riverside,Ca.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bought four over past six years and would buy again. I have purchased four Tripp Lite Smart1500LCDT UPS during the past six years. All are still in service. I find Tripp Lite more dependable, longer lasting and more economical. The Smart1500LCDT UPS does have issues. It has a terrible odor that lasts about three days after unboxing a new unit. If replacement batteries are very low (maybe < 5%) in charge, it will not charge the batteries. I use another brand UPS to initially charge such rare very-low charge batteries. I do not use Tripp Lite's PowerAlert software. Instead, I use the native server OS to communicate, shut down and power up as needed. Nothing is really wrong with PowerAlert, it's just unneeded. It's more important to me to have less consumption of server resources. The Tripp Lite LCD lies (as I find other brands do also). It will report 0 watts usage until you get a load of about 60 watts on the UPS. Then, it typically reports 10% to 60% more watts than my Mastech clamp meter reports. Don't depend upon the LCD for battery condition. I've never seen any LCD indication on a running Smart1500LCDT UPS that lets you know when the batteries can't handle a brown-out.

The unit was easy to install, and my Netgear ReadyNAS immediately recognized it and can monitor performance with no additional configuration.

Both have been thru lightning and power outages what definitely paid them off. I had an issue with one of the units and called technical support and they resolved the problem on the spot! I am quite happy and will buy again tripp lites when time comes for a replacement.

We have two power recliners protected and it saved my wife from getting stranded during a storm one time. Very good units. Replace the battery about every three years. I use them for my security system also.$

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I like the product's features. I use it for power backup to internet connection, computer monitor and tower computer. I bought it because of amount of backup power, surge protection, and LINE CONDITIONING. To date it works. With the first unit, I experienced a strong acrid smell of warm or hot plastics that persisted for three days and returned it. The replacement still had a slight smell that gradually dissipated over 48 hours. I would encourage TrippLite to also tell customers that the fan runs only when needed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this product. I keep my electronics up and running when the rolling blackouts and the PG&E Shutoff occurs. It alarms me and gives me plenty of time to shutdown. Mine came not working but it was a wire not connected to a battery. Easy fix.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hardware OK at best I purchased 5 of these for my company. One came out of the box with the casing not properly installed. Tripp-Lite's Power Alert Software is a joke. It looks like something written in the 1970s. Out of 5 computers in works on one and not on the other four. Product service is useless. The power button is very poorly designed. It protrudes from the case and is right where your hand would normally go if you wanted to pick it up. Also if ANYTHING brushes against it, (foot, leg, vacuum, it turns the power off to the computer.

Unfortunately, if you connect the USB to a MAC computer, the backup unit immediately sends a power fail flag even if the unit has no power connection between the two

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it says. Handles as it should. Nice little unit. This is for a powerful, yet dated, computer build. So much so that the unit that was replaced by this one (from a competitor) would give an alarm if the computer system was under a significant load. What I really like about this model is the readout on the front. Once one knows how, one can make the front readout give all kinds of useful information. Under full load, my computer system pulls ~550 watts. This unit handled it, no problem. One caveat, the plugs are very tightly compacted. As such, if one were to plug in a wall wart style plug, it may take more than one plugs worth of room. Thus blocking other outlets. Easily overcome by looking within your favorite e-retailer for "short extensions". Anything approximately 1 foot should do. Nature of the beast for such a small unit. On that subject, the footprint of this unit is very manageable. imagine a 2 slice toaster's width and height, and 2 toaster lengths. The unit didn't have too much time to settle in before its first test. As I was putting the unit through its paces, as it were, my wife came into the room to see if I had noticed the 10 second brownout that had just happened. As I had recently put the unit on silent, no I did not. Under full load, my monitor didn't even dim which, after some time in service on the competitor's model, it had. I've not had the unit long, but it seems to be working just fine. Time will tell. As such, time is on my side with the extensive insurance policy.

They came almost charged, and I haven't had a single issue with them. I don't even realize they are here until the power goes out, and the computers keep on going. Great product at a great price. I would buy them again, and may just buy another one.

It has done the job successfully several times. I would recommend it as a reliable backup for any electronic equipment.

I has never failed and always worked as expected. I also like that with the USB port you can monitor its status with the Home/Office/Medical Software. Very handy.
