The SMART1500LCD SmartPro LCD 120V, 1500VA/900W Line-Interactive Uninterruptible Power Supply provides battery backup and AC power protection against blackouts, brownouts, power surges and line noise that can damage electronics or destroy data. Ideal for backing up your desktop computer or audio/visual components, this line-interactive UPS switches to battery backup mode in milliseconds to keep your connected equipment running long enough to save files and shut down safely with no data loss.

Eight NEMA 5-15R outlets protect against surges, as well as provide up to 11.8 minutes of UPS battery support at half load (450W) and 4.4 minutes of support at full load (900W). Automatic voltage regulation (AVR) corrects severe undervoltages as low as 75V and overvoltages as high as 147V without using any battery power. EMI/RFI noise filtering improves your equipment’s performance and prevents damage. A 480-joule surge suppression rating protects your equipment from harmful power surges.

NEMA 5-15P plug with 1.83 m (6-ft.) cord connects to any NEMA 5-15R socket. Large rotatable LCD screen with dimmer shows real-time input voltage, overload, AVR and battery statuses at a glance. Alarm sounds to indicate power loss or low battery. With Tripp Lite’s free PowerAlert software (available via free download), the SMART1500LCD enables safe unattended system shutdown and file saves in case of a prolonged power failure.

Setup was very simple, though I do recommend looking at the directions, as I missed something very simple because I was rushing. Now that it's setup and working, I have no doubt that it will protect the important equipment that allows me to do my job everyday.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First time user of Tripp lite This is my first Tripp lite. a friend of mine recommended the brand so i thought I give it a try. it has enough plugs to cover all of my rack's equipment. it has a USB port for providing info on percentage and run time so you can setup your system to shutdown gracefully. now why I am giving it 3 starts? it because I not getting the full run time. under 10% load, I am getting 24ish minutes of run time which is very very low for a 1500va unit. I am working with support to get this resolve but the support is only email based and takes 2 business day to reply. I will update my review if I get it fixed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very reliable, easy to use and monitor. I am a long-time Tripp-Lite user and find the Smart 1500LCD to be of the same high quality as other Tripp-Lite products. I own two SMART 1500LCDs. The 8-outlet back panel accomodates my computer, dual monitors, external hard drive, sound system and scanner with room to spare. The front-panel LDC provides easy readings of incoming voltage, battery capacity and special voltage conditions, such as brownouts. Great product, small footprint. And the Tripp-Lite voltage-monitoring software guarantees a safe system shutdown (protecting my work) if a power outage occurs while I am away from my office.

The unit has completely stopped the computer from rebooting due to a surge/brown out. Also when the power has gone out the battery has given me more than ample time to finish what I was doing and save the changes before powering down my system. GREAT purchase and well worth the money.

It includes a Mac Pro, external RAID, HD monitor, Apple Time Capsule, and DSL/WiFi access point. The SMART1500LCD works great. It's unobtrusively quiet with a dimmable display, making it perfect for our bedroom computer desk. I also bought it for the increased runtime it affords. That has come in handy when the lights went out, and we could still get to the internet! And it keeps the Time Capsule/access point settings alive for long-ish outages when the computer is turned off. It has survived too-close lightning strikes and years of use. Couldn't be happier with the product and Tripp-Lite.

It is easy to set up by just screwing in the rack mount brackets and then screwing it into the mount, but it would be much easier to have someone hold up the unit for you while you screw it in.

I had a Smart LCD 1500 that had a three year warranty. The product was within days of the three year warranty running out and I had an issue with the product. I contacted Tripp Lite and they respond with a replacement product without me even having to send the original product back to them. I currently use more than one of their Smart LCD 1500's in my off-site home built cloud system. I also have another one in my home backing up my Desktop PC and related equipment. I've used their products for over ten years. I'm totally committed to using Tripp Lite products and recommend them to all my friends.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Cool!! We just bought four of the Tripp Lite SMART1500LCD UPS. I love them so far they were the cheapest rack mount UPSÃ?s I could find that had AVR in it. As a bonus it has an easy to read LCD on the front that gives you real time incoming AC Volts so you will be able to see if you have a fluctuation. It also has some easy to read symbols that will pop up when the power goes out along with a meter that tells you how much juice remains and its back lit.

Having all ports in the unit have battery backup is hands down the best feature of this unit over any other. With other products you have to choose between half which have no backup or half which do have backup. That's very limiting. The LCD screen and the options available make this the best unit on the market, in my opinion.

The LCD displays lots of useful information. The battery self-test is a nice feature. Easy enough to rackmount with the included rack ears, it would be nice if it included rack mount screws but not a huge deal. Overall, very happy so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solved a 3D Printing Problem for Me I recently purchased this uninterruptible power supply after I had a problem with a 3D printer when the power went out briefly. Even though the outage lasted only a few seconds, it was enough to ruin a multiple-day 3D printing job, because this printer has no ability to resume printing where it left off after a power outage. I lost about two full days of printing and had to start over. With this UPS installed, there have been at least two brief power outages while I had print jobs in progress, and the printer continued printing with no problems. This situation has increased my peace of mind considerably. As some reviewers have noted, the UPS does make a noticeable sound when it is running, but I have it set up in a room that is used almost exclusively for 3D printing, and the two printers in that room make considerably more noise than the UPS, so noise is not an issue. The UPS was easy to set up in a vertical position, and it is running smoothly. I am very pleased with this purchase.

They have always worked well and have held up well to being on the road. The form factor is ideal, with the unit fitting nicely in 2 rack spaces. The rack brackets can attach in a different configuration and make a neat little vertical stand. It's a clever design and we've used a few in that configuration.

Exchanged it and a second one failed two weeks later -blew input feed and got stuck running on battery only. Waiting to exchange it for a replacement. Other units have not had any issues. Display showing voltage, load and run time is very handy.

Works exactly as expected and I love the scrolling display. I am using this to power a router, hard drive, switch, DSL modem, and weather station receiver, based on the current load it is estimated to provide over 60 minutes of backup, way more than I expected!

The UPS keeps power going to my security cameras, 5G wireless modem, wifi router and gigaswitch. We often suffer from quick brownouts that would previously cause all the devices to reboot and for my to lose connection to the internet. Now with the UPS, besides the lights flickering I never know when the power goes out.

Pulling about 200W, it sits around 25% utilization and predicts almost 30 minutes it's able to supply on battery alone. Absolutely perfect for my needs. Also, the web interface is very cool, and you can set up different alert types and notifications based upon those events. Truly a fantastic purchase, would definitely recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fans are ALWAYS running and far from quiet This unit has fans which run 24-7, and they're not quiet... and unfortunately they run even in an air-conditioned server closet that runs about 65F, and also when there is no load. -- Adding logic that only turns the fans on when the components are warmer than ideal would cost Tripp-Lite pennies on the dollar... instead they're running the fans non-stop to guarantee that you'll need to replace the unit because of failed fans long before the batteries will ever go bad.

When they work, they work ... more stable (to me, anyway) than an APC, but there have been a few issues (staying online in certain environments, faulty mounting brackets) that have caused me grief while onsite for a service trip. Still, you truly get more bang for the buck with Tripp-Lite ...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from null My firm purchased 40+ of these UPS' in the past couple years ago to replace some really old UPS' where the batteries were dying (they didn't want to just replace batteries, go figure) and most are still in use. We have, however, had a couple where the fan bearings failed and was making a very loud noise and another that died all together. They were still under warranty so they sent me replacements (they forgot to include the battery in one, oops!). I expected these to hold up a little longer but overall their not bad.

I chose the rack mount option and all I had to do was pop off the plastic cover and install the rack ears. This UPS is now powering one of our servers at the office. I love how quiet it is (it has no fan to make noise). The LCD display is easy to read. Best of all, the manual is available in PDF form so we don't have to maintain bulky paper manuals. We are a paperless office and all product manuals are saved on a computer in PDF form so the fact the manual is already in PDF saved us some time scanning the manual.

It was easy to install and, we hope, will last another 5+ years. The UPS protects/supports a rack of modems, routers and other electronic equipment in the Borough's EOC. Needed to keep equipment running while back-up power kicks in.

It's helped protect against long and short power outages. I was able to setup a server to allow our VMs to automatically shutdown. We just bought a second one and would easily recommend this product.

For products that rely on longevity, asking for a review so soon seems disingenuous. That said, it has been rock solid. Information on load and voltage has been helpful. Haven't had a situation to prove its quoted workload but I don't see any reason to doubt it's performance. Would buy again. Though I would have liked to have it rack mountable. It only sits.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from null We just bought four of the Tripp Lite SMART1500LCD UPS. I love them so far they were the cheapest rack mount UPS’s I could find that had AVR in it. As a bonus it has an easy to read LCD on the front that gives you real time incoming AC Volts so you will be able to see if you have a fluctuation. It also has some easy to read symbols that will pop up when the power goes out along with a meter that tells you how much juice remains and its back lit. Take a look if you haven’t already

Since installation, this device appears to be managing the power more efficiently, our server is free of all symptoms we were having trouble with previously. Reliable, became my hero quickly....would recommend for smaller sister branches with less hardware.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Definitely worth it's price I have one of these mounted under my truck seat ( 24 volt diesel ) I will admit that the built in batteries died long ago...(i did not need them anyway ) I have it connected to the truck battery bank and it runs constantly on battery power for days at a time with a desktop pc, monitor, three power tool chargers and a large karaoke system with 32" tv and I have never had any issues with it at all. the built in inverter is one of the best I have ever found, even though it only receives ac power on my days off it has never shut down on me. I will definitely be getting another for under the other seat since I have found that the wattage is below what will soon be needed to add the stage lighting system I have just gotten.

The downside is if this unit loses power for an extended time to where the batteries deplete and the unit powers off when the power is restored you must manually power the unit back on. There are no settings to change this to auto power on remotely power own. The menu documentation for this unit does not exist manual is light on info and there are not advanced menu support. the technical support leaves something to be desired. Online reply is a scripted auto-reply and non-responsive to what you actually write. (Is unit plugged in? does it turn on? etc) I then called into support and could not get answers so had to call back and was able to get the answers from sales.

This was for an advanced smart-home comprised of automation, cameras, and a large network. The Tripp-Lite unit was far easier to install in the rack, particularly the shorter depth, than the previous unit and the full equipment startup was smooth once installed. Within the first two weeks it provided protection from two power spikes and one brown out situation where none of the infrastructure went offline.

This was very easy to install in a rack and maintained my work VPN connection during several brown outs already. Will likely pickup a second one for the other side once I have a 2/4 U server installed. I have read other reviews with complaints about the fan noise but this is negligible as this is designed to go into a rack, fan noise is expected in these scenarios and this battery is a perfect fit for that application.

This model is perfect to smooth out the many micro interruptions that plague the electrical grid, from outright outages to voltage variance. I've installed it in my Tripp Lite half rack, as the primary link to a switch, satellite DVR, router and internet gateway. This system, with these loads are rated to give me 64 minutes of protection in an outage! The line filtering alone is worth the price.

We purchased the SmartPro to run our LAN and all of the wireless and external fiber components in case of power fluctuations and short term power outages. We have several 1-2 minutes outages per month which really interrupts activity. We recently did a full functional test running all the equipment on backup power. We had calculated that the supply would last 20 minutes. The ProSmart lasted 31 minutes, which exceeded our expectations. Well done!

The only reason for 4 starts and not 5 is the device I had failed multiple times without utility power loss, cutting off network infrastructure devices for one of our buildings. This was obviously a defective device and TrippLite replaced it without an issue. I did have to pay return shipping for a large heavy box but at the end of the day, they backed their 3 year product warranty.

The rackmount option is sturdy and the status screen is easily visible through the glass front window of the rack. I like the scrolling display to easily review the current state of the UPS. The USB connection to my server provides UPS status review from the server screen with minimal additional setup.

Either they were incredibly expensive, or incredibly under powered. This UPS is able to hold all of my routers, switches and servers during the power outage for 20 to 25 minutes! Setting it up to gracefully shut down all of my equipment when the battery gets close to being depleted was a breeze! And, CDW shipped it to Alaska quickly and without charging me as much as the device for shipping. I couldn’t be more thrilled!

With its capacity the power can go out for hours without so much as a hiccup to my network. With so much of my family working from home this is a critical system that absolutely can not fail. I put this in a customer's rack and was impressed with it immediately. It fit perfectly and it worked great. I did need some help installing it - I might have been able to do it by myself but it was much easier with a helper to balance it. Once installed, it was very secure. I would def buy this again if I needed it for a rack.

It fit right into a shallow rack, with more than enough space behind it for my cables (yes, this actually can be a problem with a larger UPS). It's supporting my UDM-PRO (UniFi IPS/IDS and internet router), PoE Switch, QNAP, Cable Modem, and Raspberry Pi. The PoE Switch then powers my access points. So when the power goes out, I have roughly 1 hour of internet connectivity for my WiFi solution, PoE cameras, etc. TLDR; great UPS, fits in a shallow rack and works as designed. No regrets on this purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Meets expectations, good value I have this in a small home lab server setup; the setup is adequate for 30-55 minutes based on my loads (75-170 watts), which is good enough at the price point that these things run.. wish there were affordable off the shelf options for a power home user without needing to void warranties and "hack" the batteries or otherwise. Included chassis cooling fan is always on and noisier than I expected. Why isn't this a quieter fan or thermostatically controlled?

I wish there was a way to adjust the fans however, as they are very loud. I might void the warranty at some point and put some noctua fans in. If the software supported adjusting the speed of the fans based on how much power is being used it'd be perfect.

We have had a few power outages and the auto shutdown software is great for gracefully shutting down ALL servers (with a combination of thier Power Alert Local & Network software).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It is a very good unit execpt the display is tricky to read. I would give it a 5 except that the display is hard to read and I have tried different brightness levels. It is quiet. I can't speak for the interactivity, because I am running a DELL Server with VMWARE on it. I had a few blips show in the house and no issues. I pulled the power cord and my WMWARE kept running. So in general it is doing the job.

How are bumps found other power issues prior to the installation of the unit always put in the system down. No longer the issue with the UPS.

One manufacturing suggestion I would make is: Make a way for this unit to stand up vertically without having to mount into a rack or wall. If there is a way…I'd love to hear it.

I have used tripp-lite products with other companies in the past and even at home and I have never had any issues. They are great products. When there is a trip in the power, Tripp-lite will help keep the lights on.

Nothing that was mission critical, but this gives us assurance that the network and servers in the lab will be up. It's also nice to be able to monitor the load and estimated run time.

I use it for my Mac Mini because my local area is nectarous for unexpected and no warnings for blackouts and or power outages for maintenance. Ive list my iMac because of the outages but the UPS has saved me hundreds in computer repairs and parts from the computer not being shut down properly and the random surges that occur. Definitely worth the investment 230$ now or pay 600$ later for computer parts.

I use them in IDF closets or small network racks and have had a lot of luck with them. They are a great value at about half the cost of a similar product from another manufacturer. The only caveat is that the software for setting up and monitoring these is clunky and a pain. But that's a once every few years touch, so its not a huge burden.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best UPS available. I have used these for many years for my computer UPS. It has plenty of backup time to allow for saving of your work and normal shutdown. If you want to set it up, there is even software (linked to your PC via USB) that will automatically shut down your computer in the event of power outage. Older model displays could not be dimmed, but the later model can be dimmed. I like that feature. I also use a smaller version of this for my DVR and TV. Whenever the batteries need changing, they are standard 12v 9ah available at most electronics stores.

I live in a rural area that is currently going through a series of power outages due to Comed equipment failures. Regrettably my unit has been exercised more that I would like. To date it's working perfectly. I had some concerns with the original set up of the automatic shutdown system. Called support and they were excellent to work with. Support walked me through the whole procedure, works perfectly. I couldn't be more pleased with support and the unit.

I put all of my electronics in a server rack in the basement and wanted something powerful enough to run my TV, amplifier, AV Receiver, Android Box, media server, cable modem, wireless router, and the like until my generator would start working in the event of a power outage. Thanks to Amazon, one now just assumes that what we want to buy will be in stock every day, all the time. Well once I was finally ready to buy the item, of course this was out of stock. I did not want to wait, so I bought a competing item for my rack. It was nice that it was $50 cheaper. You get what you pay for. I installed the "other" UPS and once I started streaming a movie from my server and had the TV, receiver, amp, and media server running at one the "other" UPS started making an audible alarm indicating I was pulling too many watts and overloading it. I had to remove the TV, receiver, amp, and media server from the "other" UPS. Fortunately, 2 weeks later Tripp-Lite was back in stock on Amazon. I just bit the bullet and bought this one as well. I plugged everything I needed in and even when I'm watching a movie my Tripp-Lite UPS does not indicate over 30% load. I have Tripp-Lite running all my high wattage equipment, and the "other" UPS is running all my low wattage equipment. I highly recommend this UPS.

I have zero understanding why, they don't require 20 amps to function and are listed as 15 amp. What this means is I cannot plug certain devices into the UPS without adapters.

I have a number of our tower sites that we had purchased Tripp-Lite equipment for and have had extremely great performance from so we decided to also incorporate their use into client solutions. Filtering of electrical power and DSL lines seems to have solved several former network problems related to those issues. Will likely buy additional units as needed.

I have never had any problems with it once I connected my computer and turned it on. Thru lighting storms and power outages it just keeps on humming away.

The unit was showing 67.5 minutes of standby time. It blends right in with all of the other equipment on our A/V stand.

I lost a 48" LCD, Sony amp, and Blue Ray machine to a series of major spikes to my home. Yes, I said the power company bought me new equipment. They had no problem including my Smart1500LCD. I have never had a problem since my system was replaced! I have spikes and brown outs still but with the Smart1500LCD everything remains protected.

Adding the brackets was super easy, the run time is awesome and it was the perfect fit for my 6U home rack solution. I am running a setup with firewall, NVR and APs (PoE) and it keeps everything up and running. The LCD display gives estimates on runtime based on load which is super helpful.
