The ultra small 4-port USB 2.0 hub is the most versatile and powerful hub on the market. This USB 2.0 certified hub allows you to connect up to four USB devices to a single USB port on a PC/mac/notebook. This hub has been certified by the USB-IF to support hi-speed data transmission rates up to 480Mbps. Perfect for both the desktop and mobile user. For the mobile user, this full featured hub with self stored cable is the size of a 3/8" thick credit card making it the ideal "pocket size" solution the user on the go. For the desktop user, an extension cable has been provided so that the hub can be located within easy reach, wherever the PC is located. While the hub will function perfectly in virtually all cases without needing external power, a compact, international AC adapter (110/220V ) has been provided for the rare circumstance when connecting a power hungry device. This USB 2.0 device is backwards compatible so that it will function with both USB 2.0 devices as well as USB 1.1 peripherals. Comes in a clamshell retail package. Tripp Lite offers a lifetime replacement warranty on all cable products.

One was for my wife's MP3 player and one for my son's laptop.He is an over the road truck driver and needs powered USB for DVD,speakers and game controllers. Has additional power port, but works already while connected to computer. 4 USB ports lined up. So far, used 2 at a time. Basic and not fancy, it does the job you need.

I needed ports for the wireless mouse conenctor as well as potentially external drives, etc. and this gave me more flexibility.

Want a USB port expander? This does it. Want to power USB devices but save your laptop batteries for other things? This does it. Want to provide a charging port for USB devices when your computer is turned off or taken away? This does it. It might make coffee but that is not why I bought it. It does the other things quite well.
