Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange combines Symantec antimalware technology with advanced heuristics to provide real-time email protection against viruses, spyware, phishing, and other malicious attacks while enforcing content filtering policies on Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, 2010, and 2013. In addition, Mail Security leverages Symantec Premium AntiSpam, powered by Brightmail technology, to stop 99 percent of incoming spam with less than one in 1 million false positives. It supports Hosted, Microsoft Hyper-V, or VMware virtualized Exchange server environments. Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange complements other layers of protection by preventing the spread of email-borne threats and enforcing data loss prevention policies.

Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange with AntiVirus (v. 7.5) - lic is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from We used it for a while then it just got so bloated and was slow that we dumped it for another product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quite a good product and has a logical interface. Some areas need to be more granular to allow for more accurate configuration but one of the better Symantec products.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from We are on version 7.x now after having been on 6.x for the last few years. We have Exchange 2007 as of this review. The product works well for the most part. It blocks upwards of 42,000 spam emails a week in our institution. My biggest complaint though is the product frequently lets waves of certain types of email through the filters. Almost always fake WellsFargo, Bank of America, and ADP accounting messages where the attachment is caught but the email is still delivered. Also occasional bouts of explicit / inappropriate mail concerning Viagra type things. Usually it takes several days of forwarding tens to hundreds of the offending messages to the Brightmail missed spam address before the rules are adjusted. Very obvious stuff that somehow spammers figure out how to beat the system. The filter customizations are rather limited and do not always work as they should. For instance, certain settings were counterintuitive to block spam with particular subjects that somehow kept finding its way through the cracks to certain users in the hundreds of messages per day. I eventually got it to work to some degree, but it is a clunky interface. The product works but isn't perfect. The inexplicable waves that get through take too long to block via newer rules, which frustrates our end users. Spam filtering at places like Microsoft, Yahoo, Gmail, etc. seem far more effective by comparison, but I guess that is some of the pain of hosting your own mail environment vs. purchasing corporate accounts with 3rd parties.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We've been using it for the last 2 years and stopped completely all the spam we were getting on our servers.Easy to use/install.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Everytime I've installed this package it seems that it hogs the resources and doesn't get much filtering done without a lot of extensive tweaking.Brightmail was much more effective than this for our organization... but that is not to say others might get better results...
