The S3510SMU33 USB 3.0 hard drive enclosure enables you to connect a 3.5 in SATA hard drive through an available USB port.



With support for UASP, the enclosure performs up to 70% faster than conventional USB 3.0, when paired with a UASP-enabled host controller to utilize the full potential of your SATA III hard drives. See our UASP testing results below for further details.



The HDD enclosure offers a versatile solution for increasing the storage/backup capabilities of your computer, with support for SATA I/II/III hard drives at capacities of up to 4TB. Improved Performance with UASP



UASP is supported in Windows 8, Mac OSX (10.8 or above), and Linux. In testing UASP performs with a 70% faster read speed and 40% faster write speed over traditional USB 3.0 at peak performance.



At the same peak in testing UASP also shows an 80% reduction in required processor resources.



Testing results were obtained using an Intel Ivy Bridge system, a UASP enabled StarTech.com Enclosure, and a SATA III solid state drive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great enclosure but ejection problem Old computer motherboard died and removed hard drive and enclosed in this. 500GB successfully saved. But blue light is always blinking even with everything closed and attempt to eject results in "Problem Ejecting USB Attached SCSI USB Mass Storage Device. Device is currently in use." But I see nothing using it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Keeps discs from sleeping upon inactivity Please be aware, that if you connect this device permanently, the disc inside never spins down on it's own, when there's no activity on the USB bus. If you spin it down manually (e.g. by using Linux' hdparm) the status LED is flashing permanently until you spin it up again. Besides that, it's a great product, but the lack if the spin down feature is a big issue for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product I acquired the StarTech.com Hard Drive Enclosure for 3.5in SATA Drives - USB 3.0 after purchasing and installing a new 256 GB Intel Flash Drive to replace my SATA drive. The StarTech enclosure product was very easy to install my 500 GB SATA hard drive and it works great. I highly recommend this product to anybody to who wants to get additional use from their SATA drive.
