Great SSD Durable and fast speed
I bought this years ago, the SSD is good with speed, and durable. However, the price is a little too high compared to other brands. On the other hand, the ssd is still holding up strong and fast. I hope it will last longer per price

Get with the times if you haven't already lol
Mine is actually listed in magician as a 970 Evo 500 gig but I couldn't find that on the list.
Either way it is amazing and has given me zero problems thus far and I've had it for several years rather since 2018.
I would highly suggest anybody who somehow has yet to experience a computer running off of a cell state drive due so immediately.

I bought this last month ago. Product quality and build quality are good. And utilities software (Samsung Magician) for this Samsung SSD is very useful and user friendly. And working good with this SSD in my computer. I'm a software engineer using this SSD, work with more efficiently, when I publish and cloning repositories and working the projects in my local machine are more efficiently.

New Model New Features
I recently bought this to replace the original 128GB SSD in my 2016 Dell XPS. It was a nice upgrade. SSDs have come a long way in the past six years, both in terms of capacity for the price and speed. If you own an older machine that is user-serviceable, I highly recommend getting some tools and upgrading your SSD. It's well worth your effort!

Fastest Gen 3 SSD
I bought it on deal as gen 4 SSD were coming to market. Placed the order on dell website. The delivery was fast and free. The item was packaged well. The SSD itself is easy to install on AW R3 M17 laptop. Performance wise this is the fastest gen 3 SSD. I bought it as game drive and my games are running smoothly without any issues 1440p@60. I recommend this SSD if the system supports only gen 3 SSD.

Samsung SSD 980
The Samsung SSD 980 was simple to install. It delivered the advertised speeds. It was immediately recognized by my BIOS. OS boot times are short and programs load from it in a snap. Perfectly suits my needs. Would purchase again if I need more space.

Game changer
Tested this baby against 2 other different leading competitors NVMe SSD drives as a secondary multimedia drive(standard formatting options, Default allocation size). Ran three real world tests on all three drives. I have decided to snatch these up to replace all three of my M.2 drives with these. My decision comes from editing video and building PC's for Multimedia professionals(graphics, video, webmasters, coders) for the past 15 years or so.
Installation
Easy, breezy. I have a huge top end laptop meant for video editing on the go. If any hardware has extra heatsinks, thicker chips, etc, it will not fit. 980 PRO slipped in without issue or modification to the housing of the drives. Initialized the drive, downloaded the software, updated firmware in under two minutes. This product is good for your little to big workstation setups and is not a IT nightmare. I would note that for bigger workstations, you will probably need more storage than 500GB since typical high-end motherboards support 3 M.2 drives with 2 lanes of bandwidth.
4K video export
In older HDD's and SSD's(non M.2), I found the temperature to rise quite a bit when using either to export from or to. With M.2 drives It got even less. The 980 PRO never broke a sweat. Granted, I am pumping out master files at an average speed of 56mbps which is a low level hum in the performance aspect of the drive, but it stayed the same temp. This should mean a longer lasting drive with less dead spots over time.
File Transfer
I just threw a mix of files together(100GB total, all different sizes) and transferred to see. Topped out at 1.8GBps with no dips. Other drives topped out at 1.6 and wavered between 1.2 to 1.6GBps. The heat rose less with the 980 PRO and plateaued at a lower temp than the others. Read write functions to itself(duplicated the files on the 980 PRO) resulted in a dip to 1.6GBps and still outperformed it's peers.
Final Opinion
Only having a 500GB storage meant I could not test this drive as an OS drive. I do surmise that for a graphic design professional or a gamer, this would be the perfect OS drive as its read write capability is higher and runs at a lower temp. Even transferring files felt snappier(request to response time). Like I already stated, this drive is going to replace my others.

The computers boots faster and it is a perfect solution for large file transfer and also to boost performance when playing games. It might be small but has great power. Very fast and smooth. I am getting great performance with gaming and graphics programs. I can also quickly move and access files including videos and photos from this with no issue. Super easy and quick to install. Would purchase another and definitely recommend. Fast SSD for editing and file backup
I needed extra storage for the videos that I edit. I picked up this 500GB NVMe M.2 SSD because I had read good things about the speed and reliability. Installing it was a breeze. I formatted the drive to my liking and edited some videos to test out the speed. This drive was blazing fast. It also allowed me to export faster because the encoder wasn't being bogged down by the drive speed. As for reliability, I transferred files to and from this drive and it never lost performance in the time I have had it. I would definitely recommend this drive to anyone looking for more storage for their laptop or desktop.

Easy to install performance and capacity
This was a welcome upgrade to our desktop PC. We had an older 2.5 inch SATA SSD that was only 128 GB, so size was an issue. The PC still seemed fairly snappy, so we weren't really worried with performance, etc. Installation was simple, aside from one issue and that is our motherboard not having the screw in the mSATA slot. This is no fault of the Samsung .. most motherboards would already have that screw already in place, so that it was there to be used.
We added this initially as a second drive and did not reinstall Windows on it, yet. We have some video games installed here and they load so much faster than before. The additional capacity is also very welcome, as we can fit multiple games.
I look forward to getting around to reinstalling Windows and putting it on this drive and using this for boot, as I can tell that it is faster than the other SSDs that we have in the computer.
I would highly recommend this drive to anyone looking for either performance or capacity improvements.

I always am in need of more storage for my photos and videos. The 980 nvme is a game changer for me. I like how the 980 PRO manages heat on its own to deliver durable and reliable performance while minimizing performance fluctuations during extended usage. The 980 PRO uses nickel coating to help manage the controller's heat level and a heat spreader label to deliver effective thermal control of the NAND chip. I was sick of using a SD drive that made moving files painfully slow. After easily installing the SSD I was ready to transfer my files at lightning speed. The storage and write speeds make this a winner in my book. The load time for Windows is also extremely fast under 15 seconds. This seemed to handle most mid tier games graphics with ease. The price is affordable and I would recommend it.

A Must Have Drive
I've been looking to upgrade my current gaming PC and was very pleased to find out that it had a second available slot for this 500Gb SSD. I figured it will be perfect way to a boost for gaming or a seamless workflow for heavy graphics, the 980 is a smart choice for outstanding SSD performance - and it's all backed by an NVMe interface and PCIe 3.0 technology.
The install was very easy, as they say "plug and play". You can use the optional Samsung Magician software with it which is pretty neat and useful as well. The drive itself states read speeds up to 3500Mb/s however after doing some testing I was not able to replicate that kind of speed, however all the applications loaded up quickly and after doing some transfers back and forth, it worked amazingly fast.
If you still use a spinning drive I would absolutely recommend replacing it with this SSD drive (or even better with a Pro version of it), you will see your OS boot up in seconds, read and write speeds will be quick which will improve your work flow. Samsung is a reliable brand for SSD media and this NVMe M2 is an awesome alternative to any other competition in this area. I received this product at a discounted price for my honest opinion.

Just so fast!
I have been using this drive as a secondary drive in my PC for a few weeks now and it's so fast that i don't even think about it being there. Read/write speed is one of those things where if you aren't looking for it, you only notice when it's bad. It blows away the stock drive that i have as primary and makes video editing and file copyng so much faster. It's life changing speed and it's amazing to see how much faster it is than something made just a year ago.

Fast SSD That Stays Cool
I save pictures and videos of all of my family and friends. The Samsung SSD 980 m.2 drive saved me from having to downsize my collection. Having an extra 500GB of storage is a game changer for me. This SSD was easy to install in my computer. It also has a special nickel coating that keeps the drive cool without the need for a heat sync like my main drive. I transferred several hundred gigabytes of content to this drive and it transferred the files in no time at all. I would recommend this fast affordable drive.

This latest Samsung SSD doesn't dissapoint. I also own the 980 Pro and the 860 QVO SSD's. I've added this to an Nvidia Shield as an external network storage. Compared to an SD that I had with a USB adapter it's a game changer! I can't ever see myself going back to HDD or SD cards. Everything loads faster! This is the way to do storage now. Even if you don't have a device that can support it you can always buy an external adapter and use it tgat way. I love it!
