The McAfee® Secure Messaging Gateway (SMG) is the industry’s leading e-mail security solution that delivers protection against spam, inappropriate content, phishing, worms, and known viruses on a single appliance. This dedicated appliance provides enterprise-class performance to meet the most demanding messaging security requirements. A single, unified management console (McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator®) is included for centralized management of all McAfee security products from the desktop to the gateway, helping to lower your total cost of ownership. McAfee SMG is a member of the McAfee Secure Content Management family of appliances which also includes a specialized web security appliance - Secure Web Gateway (SWG) - and a fully integrated Web and e-mail security appliance designed for small- and medium-sized businesses - Secure Internet Gateway (SIG).

In Depth Anti-virus - McAfee SMG is based on the same anti-virus technology as our award-winning desktop product. The heart of McAfee anti-virus protection is an engine that blocks both known and unknown viruses. This protects you against zero-day attacks and new virus threats. McAfee SMG scans all inbound and outbound messaging traffic that use SMTP and POP3 protocols.
Advanced e-mail Content filtering - What if you could protect against inappropriate content coming into your network, as well as guard against sensitive information leaving the network, such as trade secrets, financial data, or the like? McAfee SMG's built-in e-mail content filtering can do both. With lexical scanning of e-mails and more than 300 types of attachments, McAfee SMG can block or modify messages that contain specific words or phrases that violate a content rule.
Anti-Spam & Anti-Phishing - McAfee SMG includes a built-in anti-spam module (licensed separately) that utilizes multiple highly sophisticated techniques to detect and block spam and phishing attacks.
