Rated 5 out of 5 by from Budget option but lacking compared to competitors What is most valuable? Juniper Ethernet Switches' most valuable feature is the Juniper-Mist cloud, which facilitates management of the switches and access points. For how long have I used the solution? I've been using Juniper Ethernet Switches for a year. What do I think about the stability of the solution? I would rate Juniper Ethernet Switches' stability eight out of ten. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Juniper Ethernet Switches are designed to be scalable and flexible. How are customer service and support? Juniper Ethernet Switches' tech support is hard to reach and slow. How was the initial setup? The initial setup is quite straightforward. You can configure and manage the process locally, which means you can access the CLA if you know the commands or use the GUI. Basic deployment takes around twenty minutes, while local configuration takes thirty minutes to an hour. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? Juniper Ethernet Switches are cheaper than Cisco or HP. Licensing is available on a yearly basis, and there are extra costs for support. What other advice do I have? I would only recommend Juniper Ethernet Switches for those customers who don't have the budget for Cisco or HP. I would give Juniper Ethernet Switches a rating of seven out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Hybrid Cloud Disclaimer: My company has a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer:Partner

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ethernet switch solution that offers good scalability, is straightforward to set up and well priced What is our primary use case? We use the EX series for switching. We use both POE and the standard option. We mainly use 48 port ones because we have quite a large area to cover for networking. We use three or four VLANs on each. The models we use are the EX 2300 and 3300. We use the Juniper SRX 3040s in a cluster configuration and we have five offices around the globe. And our main office is in Bristol and has two 3034s in the cluster configuration. We've also got a VPN between all the sites. Our other sites use SRX 3020s, which will allow a gigabit to pass through on the firewall. Our company has about 150 people spread across five continents with multiple offices across the globe. There are four of us at the moment in my team that deal with the actual devices. What needs improvement? Their web GUI interface needs to be a lot better, especially when compared to HP. The command line is good, but you have to know how to get around it. The GUI is clunky and very slow. HP switches, in comparison, are easier to use because you can either have it as an options menu or you can actually just do command line, which is brilliant. When using Juniper and trying to do configurations on the actual switch, some of my team don't know how to do the command line. This solution is quite expensive compared to HP. Their support is also costly. A 1900 HP broker of Switch comes with a lifetime warranty compared to an EX 2300 which only has a five-year warranty on it. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using this solution for five and a half years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? This is a stable solution. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? I would rate this solution a 10 out of 10 for scalability. How are customer service and support? In the past two years, I've only had to call Juniper twice. One was for a switch issue and one was for one of our SRXs. The support team were brilliant in helping us fix the issue both times. How was the initial setup? The initial setup is really straightforward. It is similar to a plug and play setup. We have an on-premise deployment. What about the implementation team? We completed the deployment in-house. Sometimes we get a third party to purchase a unit for us if we can't purchase direct from Juniper. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? If compared to Cisco, this is a well priced solution. Compared to HP, it is a little bit overpriced. Overall, they are priced in the middle compared to competitors. What other advice do I have? Overall, I would rate this solution an eight out of ten. It is very reliable, scalable and easy to configure. Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A highly stable tool that is expensive What is our primary use case? I use Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches in my company as access switches for PCs or access points. What needs improvement? Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches lack to offer the latest management tools. For how long have I used the solution? I have experience with Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches. I am a customer of the solution. What do I think about the stability of the solution? It is a highly stable solution. Stability-wise, I rate the solution a nine to ten out of ten. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? It is a scalable solution. Scalability-wise, I rate the solution an eight or nine out of ten. Around 100 people in my company use the tool. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? I have experience with some other solutions in the past. I don't know why my company switched from some of its previous solutions to Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches. How was the initial setup? I rate the product's initial setup phase a seven or eight on a scale of one to ten, where one is a difficult setup process, and ten is an easy setup phase. The product's deployment phase can be done by one person from our company and one external person. The solution can be deployed in a few days. What about the implementation team? The product's deployment phase was done with the help of a third party. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? It is a very expensive product. I rate the product price an eight on a scale of one to ten, where one is a low price, and ten is a high price. What other advice do I have? In our company, we have developed Juniper EX Series Series Ethernet Switches in our network topology for access. There is no feature in the product that we use apart from the authentication feature, which is something every switch offers and is beneficial to our company's network performance and management. Not even one full-time person is required to take care of the maintenance phase of the product. Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches have not improved my company's security posture, but the tool has improved the network. I rate the overall tool a seven to eight out of ten. Rated 5 out of 5 by from I like the VLAN capabilities, and the interface is easy to use What is most valuable? I like the VLAN capabilities, and the Junos interface is easy to use. What needs improvement? EX switches take too long to boot when we restart them for maintenance. We need to minimize downtime. Another issue is the command line interface. Juniper's commands are different from other switches, so it's hard to remember them. For how long have I used the solution? We have used EX switches for about two or three years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? I rate EX switches eight out of 10 for stability. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? I rate EX switches seven out of 10 for scalability. Sometimes the Junos OS hangs, and we need to restart the switch. It takes a long time to reboot after that. How are customer service and support? I rate Juniper support eight out of 10. How would you rate customer service and support? Positive Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? We also deploy Cisco and Aruba switches. Our technical manager makes the decision depending on the price and the organization's needs. How was the initial setup? I rate EX switches seven out of 10 for ease of setup. Deploying the hardware takes about 15 to 20 minutes, but it takes one or two hours to configure the switches. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? I rate EX switches six out of 10 for affordability. Juniper is more expensive than Aruba but cheaper than Cisco. What other advice do I have? I rate Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches eight out of 10. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can rollback to previous version during configuration and pricing is less What is most valuable? Juniper switches are smart and we have all the features that we want. You can rollback to the previous version if you make any mistake during configuration. This is not possible in Cisco. What needs improvement? You need to make a few local configurations to work with the solution. We have faced issues with the tool's stability. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using the solution for ten years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? I would rate the solution's stability an eight out of ten. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? I would rate the tool's scalability an eight out of ten. We have around 148 ports connected using the solution. How are customer service and support? We manage the solution ourselves and do not require any support. How was the initial setup? You just need to copy and paste the template. We do not follow automatic configuration but copy it to the environment. However, the configuration commands are long compared to Cisco. It's not an issue since it is just copy and paste. You need one person to handle the product's deployment. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The product's pricing is less and almost half of Cisco's. What other advice do I have? I would rate the tool a seven out of ten. Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable and easy to set up with good connectivity What is our primary use case? We primarily use the solution for power networking. What is most valuable? The solution is easy to set up. It offers good connectivity. It's stable and reliable. We can scale the solution. What needs improvement? We would like it if there was more security added in future releases. For how long have I used the solution? I've been using the solution for two or three years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution has been stable for the last two years. It's reliable. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? We have 500 people using the solution. We find it to be scalable. If it needs to expand, it's not an issue. One switch has 48 ports. We have about ten switches. We likely will be expanding the solution in the future. We've wanted to, and now we have a need to. How are customer service and support? I've never directly dealt with support. Technical support usually is passed on to our seniors. If an electronic switch is down and we cannot use it, we need to reach out to support to get replacements. How would you rate customer service and support? Neutral How was the initial setup? I did the installation two years ago, and it was pretty straightforward. It was not overly complex. We have five staff members that can handle deployment and maintenance duties. They are networking engineers. What about the implementation team? We don't need outside assistance when it comes to implementations. I can handle setups myself. I did that last one two years ago. We have large offices in New York, India, and in other countries where these switches have been installed for our access layer and core layer. We have thousands of users. They all use the switches when connecting to LAN or Wi-Fi. What is most valuable? The feature I like the most is the ability to reword changes before committing to the change. We can always reword changes in 10 minutes if they don't work. The solution is very streamlined, and the performance is very good. What needs improvement? Support could be improved. For how long have I used the solution? I have used this solution for about three years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The stability and uptime is really good. I have never faced any issues with stability. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The solution is scalable. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? I have also worked with Meraki. How was the initial setup? Setup isn't very complex. The documentation is really good, so it's easy to configure. We have three network engineers who maintain the solution. What other advice do I have? I would rate this solution as nine out of ten. For those who are using and investing too much in Cisco, my advice is that you can use Juniper for half of the cost and almost get the same result. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable, easy to set up, and allows us to be less reliant on other brands What is our primary use case? These are standalone devices. We use them as switches. We use them in the access layer as well as in the aggregation layer. We use them to provide internet services to the end-user. What is most valuable? While it's not necessarily better, we do need to reduce our reliance on Chinese-manufactured solutions to no more than 20%. Therefore, we need a vendor that does not have equipment made in China. The setup process is simple. It's stable. We have found the product to be scalable. What needs improvement? We needed to change what we use now so that the upper layer, the business layer, was moved to Juniper. We haven't really dealt with any issues. The price could be a bit lower. We'd like to see some form of support for Internet of Things, or IoT devices. For how long have I used the solution? I've been using the solution for six months now. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution is stable. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. It's reliable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? We can scale and expand the solution. We have more than 500 users on the solution currently. How are customer service and support? I have colleagues that directly deal with customer support. I haven't dealt with them directly. However, it is my understanding that they are helpful. How would you rate customer service and support? Positive Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? We have used Chinese-manufactured equipment. We're working to be less reliant on it. We've used, for example, Huawei. We've also used Cisco. Huawei has better support. The response time is better. The price is also better, and there is not a complex licensing procedure for Huawei. You can buy two licenses, for example, and they can serve all your needs. How was the initial setup? Although the initial setup is pretty straightforward, it is a bit different than, for example, Cisco and Huawei. It takes some time to get familiar with the process. We have a partner that handles the maintenance for us. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? We'd like the pricing to come down a bit. What other advice do I have? We're a partner and end-user. I'd rate the solution eight out of ten. We are happy with its capabilities overall, and it has allowed us to rely less on Chinese-manufactured technology. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good performance with an easy initial setup and a helpful unselect feature What is our primary use case? We still use the solution as a legacy network just for a core switch. It's for the ISP. What is most valuable? The unselect feature is very useful. The performance is very good. It is very reliable. It is scalable. We found the initial setup to be simple. What needs improvement? The operating system could be better. Sometimes it's not stable enough or has some sort of critical block. Support could be a bit better in certain regions. For how long have I used the solution? I've used the solution since 2014. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution is reliable, and the performance is good. There are no glitches, and it doesn't crash or freeze. That said, the operating system has its stability issues. There are some bugs there. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The solution scales well. It's not a problem if you need to expand. You can upgrade or add more switches to this product. We have six or seven people that use the solution. They are all engineers. We may increase usage, however, likely instead on an SD-WAN network. How are customer service and support? They need some better support services in the Asia region. If I get support from America or Europe, the help they offer is good enough for me. How would you rate customer service and support? Neutral Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? We did not previously use a different solution. How was the initial setup? For the legacy network, it's not complex to implement the solution. It's just a simple setup. A full deployment and configuration take about two to three hours. For regular maintenance, we only need two to three people. What about the implementation team? We have a team that can handle the deployment. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? It's a default service. The pricing is for the hardware. We don't need licensing. I'm not sure of the exact final price of the solution. Which other solutions did I evaluate? I've also looked into Cisco solutions. What other advice do I have? We're a Juniper partner. We are using the latest version of the solution. We're working with the 9200 series. I'd recommend the solution to others. I'd rate the solution eight out of ten. The operating system does have some bugs that need to be worked out. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Has flexible functionalities and good stability What is our primary use case? We use the solution to access insights for network activities. What is most valuable? The solution provides advanced switching features like voice VLAN and QoS. It has flexible functionalities compared to other vendors. Also, it delivers a good performance. What needs improvement? They should provide net features similar to Cisco switches. Also, they should integrate VPN functionality with the solution. For how long have I used the solution? We have been the solution for more than five years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution is relatively stable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The solution is scalable. How are customer service and support? The solution's technical support team is responsive. How was the initial setup? The solution's initial setup is straightforward. The deployment process for a new switch includes connecting and configuring it to the management port and other VLANs. Also, it depends on the specific requirements, including integrating VLAN for users, IPs, servers, authentication, etc. When the configuration is simple, it takes 30 minutes to complete. But when it involves configuring advanced features like QoS switches, it consumes more time. Also, the duration depends on the team of executives as well. If they have prior experience working with Juniper, it takes less time. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? We don't need to pay for the solution's features. We pay for its support service. Which other solutions did I evaluate? We use Cisco at one of the locations. Juniper is stable comparatively. It has the best hardware built quality. What other advice do I have? The solution is easy to use. I recommend it to others and rate it as a nine. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Provides campus switches and access switches that are simple to deploy, but the code isn't stable enough for a leaf and spine design What is our primary use case? The version we're using depends on the model. We use QFX a lot, including versions 5100, 5110, and 5120. For the 4300 and 4400 campus switches, we're running version 21.4. The solution is deployed on-premises. Juniper doesn't support cloud. Juniper just bought an orchestration management platform called Abstract. Abstract is all greenfield, meaning that it's designed to be built from the ground up. You can't incorporate it with the existing infrastructure. We have over a million users. I work for AWS, so we do a lot of deployment in Juniper. How has it helped my organization? If you know Juniper syntax, it's simple to deploy, simple to set up, very cheap, and cost effective for an average network. What is most valuable? Juniper is really good when it comes to the MX router, like edge devices for service providers. The hardware is solid, and a lot of ISPs use MX routers. The SRX firewall is pretty good. The campus switches and access switches are the most valuable and simple to deploy for Virtual Chassis. Other than that, I don't recommend QFX10000 or 5000. What needs improvement? If we're building a data center and have Juniper, we have hundreds of Juniper switches in a leaf and spine design architecture, and it's horrible. Sometimes after an upgrade, half of the even port can't be detected. They don't recognize third-party SFPs, and now they claim that they don't support that anymore. There are a lot of issues with the hardware and software. Juniper needs to get their code up to par because it isn't stable enough for a leaf and spine design. If you have over 10,000 VMs or Mac addresses, it doesn't scale. I would love Juniper to have more stable features, hardware, and code. We have so many tickets open with Juniper. The switch reboot doesn't detect the port. About 80% of my problems aren't engineering problems, but are Juniper's problems. In comparison, Arista gives me 10% of the problems that Juniper gives me when it comes to hardware and software. It's falling behind compared to Palo Alto because of its features. Juniper's campus switches and data center switches for the leaf and spine design for the overlay and underlay is horrible. I wouldn't recommend that anyone use Juniper fabric, because there are so many problems, issues, and features that aren't supported. For how long have I used the solution? I have used Juniper ethernet switches for 20 years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? I would rate the stability as five out of ten. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? I would rate the scalability as five out of ten. If you exceed 10,000 or 15,000 Mac addresses, it becomes unscalable and the network becomes very slow. There are a lot of figures within the data center that Juniper hasn't come up to speed. Now, they claim that they don't support CRB anymore. They support symmetrical IRB, and they support dynamic BGP. How are customer service and support? I would rate technical support as five out of five. How was the initial setup? Setup is easy. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? For the QFX5000 Juniper switches, the price is about $10,000, but they would probably sell it for $1,000. Nobody can beat Juniper's pricing when it comes to switches. Juniper out-prices everybody, but they get you on the back end, maintenance, service port, and service contract. It's $3-5 million a year just in service contracts, support maintenance, and service agreements to support Juniper features for thousands of switches. I don't see a good ROI on Juniper because a lot of time is spent on troubleshooting. With Arista, you buy $50,000 switches, but they're stable. They're pretty solid when it comes to the code and hardware. Which other solutions did I evaluate? I evaluated Cisco ACI and DNA. I also evaluated Arista, but a certain company didn't want to go with it because they didn't have the budget. Arista isn't cost effective because it's very expensive. What other advice do I have? I would rate Juniper as six out of ten. It's not a bad product, but there are a lot of bad features, code, and hardware. Juniper does ethernet switching, but they also do campus switching and access switching. Those are very basic setups. They also do next generation data centers. You're supporting these compute nodes, storage, and DNS. The next generation data center fabric is horrible. I built a leaf and spine design in Juniper, but we can't get the MC-LAG to work properly, so we have to use ESI-LAG. We can't use type five EVPN. We have to use type two EVPN. When you're dealing with internal routing like IBGP, it's very hard to troubleshoot. You can't use features like ASPAP, local preference, and other things like route maps and prefixes. You can't really do any of that because it's all internal. I wouldn't recommend Juniper. If you want to implement it, then evaluate what you're trying to do. If you're doing a lot of campus switches and access switches, then it's fine. If you're doing a lot of policy-based, zero trust, and micro segmentation, and all these parameters are being driven by security, my advice is not to use it. Many companies, especially trading companies, stock market companies, hedge funds, and banking companies all use Arista for their lower EC platforms, high speed, and high throughput. I build a lot of major corporations, so I see a lot of companies that do that. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stable and reliable but pricing could be better What is our primary use case? We are the company integrators, who provide solutions to our customers. I don't have much knowledge in this regard since I started in the middle. I have a lot of experience in Huawei and Juniper. It's because the configuration is an easier process and the transport from Juniper is also easy. They are currently using all these products for various purposes in the network which includes connecting to servers and Wi-Fi points. What is most valuable? We have multiple cases of the customers trying to upgrade their network from Cisco, Aruba and Huawei to Juniper. They do this basically because they want to modernise their network and have an increased capacity. This shift improves their functionality because the Juniper Ethernet switches are more advanced. We provide them with assistance to configure switches, access points and Wi-Fi. What needs improvement? There are multiple areas of improvement in Juniper EX series switches. In terms of speed and pricing, while Juniper provides good quality services, some clients still find the price very high compared to other competitors. Also there is a need for certain features to be enhanced like clear our configuration process which will help to make Juniper switches more stronger. However, there are also multiple challenges including understanding and configuration of certain aspects difficult without assistance. Despite these kinds of challenges, there have been multiple solutions and huge potential of improvement in Juniper. For how long have I used the solution? I have been working with Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches for more than 10 years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? Juniper switches are stable and reliable which makes it efficient for day to day operations. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? In terms of scalability they are scalable, especially in the context of Ukraine's growing Ethernet provider market. I have observed instances where customers easily scale up their network capacities with Juniper and this has proved to be very beneficial for them. How are customer service and support? I have opened a ticket once or twice and I think there are not many changes that I would like to address. They explain the problem and help to get the solution How would you rate customer service and support? Positive What other advice do I have? I would recommend everyone to use Juniper at the organisations. I would rate it 7 out of 10. Disclaimer: My company has a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer:Integrator
