Rated 5 out of 5 by from Enhances security, facilitates file sharing, and has good SD-WAN capabilities What is our primary use case? Our primary uses for Forcepoint are internet access, filtering, and intruder detection. We also use it for file sharing. What is most valuable? The most valuable feature is SD-WAN. What needs improvement? There is no support available in Fiji, and it would make it easier to have local support and somebody that we can speak with. The pricing for this solution should be more competitive. Forcepoint would be improved if there were more training available. The vendor should make loaner units available for test and evaluation in test environments. For how long have I used the solution? I've been using this solution for three to four months. What do I think about the stability of the solution? This solution is very stable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? With the SD-WAN capabilities, it is very scalable. We have about 6,000 users. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? We were previously using a combination of Fortinet and Cisco, but have now upgraded entirely to Forcepoint. Fortinet did not have the same package available as Forcepoint that includes end-point security. How was the initial setup? The initial setup is really easy. It is user-friendly and straightforward. What about the implementation team? We had assistance from consultants when we deployed Forcepoint. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? Forcepoint is very expensive but it's really secure. What other advice do I have? My advice to anybody who is researching this solution is to consider the company's budget. Forcepoint is a very expensive solution but it is also very secure. For smaller companies, I would recommend Fortinet and Cisco, but if you have the money then you can look at Forcepoint. I would rate this solution a nine out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from It comes with functionalities to simplify operations and management What is our primary use case? We give consultancy and propose technology based on the customer's design. We also do long-term deployments. Normally, our solutions are deployed on-premises. We have some key projects where almost everything is deployed on-premises. We also manage the solutions and infrastructures with firewalls, network devices, etc. We have a great experience with different technologies, and Forcepoint is one of them. What is most valuable? The feature that we like the most about Forcepoint is that we know the technology and have confidence in it. We can have several functionalities to simplify operations and management. We can combine functionalities like log ownership to review the number of devices in the infrastructure. What needs improvement? Its interface is complex when compared with a firewall like FortiGate. Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall needs a management console, whereas FortiGate doesn't need any console. When you have a few devices, a console is not really necessary. It's good to have a private console only when you have a lot of devices. For how long have I used the solution? We began to work with Forcepoint when they got Stonesoft several years ago. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Our projects are not very demanding in terms of performance. Therefore, we don't have any special requirements for scalability. We have some customers for whom we manage this kind of technology, and the scalability or performance is achieved by deploying a greater data appliance. How are customer service and technical support? I might have contacted them for some questions related to managing instances. We sometimes had problems with registering or activating licenses on the manufacturer portal. I haven't opened any ticket personally. My colleagues have contacted them for technical support, that is, for problems that go beyond the basics of the Forcepoint configuration, such as for replacing some faulty components. Their experience was good in general. How was the initial setup? I'm not in the technical part right now, but based on what I have learned from my technical colleagues, the initial setup is not very difficult. When you have experience in setting up or working with these technologies, it's not difficult to set up a firewall. What about the implementation team? We have certified people to manage this technology. We manage the infrastructure for our clients. What other advice do I have? We are managing a customer's infrastructure where we have two pairs of Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall working without any major problem. I would recommend Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall based on your needs. It's very useful for us to mix several technologies on the same platform to increase its security level. We have experience with Check Point, FortiGate, Palo Alto, and StrongGate (which became McAfee and then Forcepoint). Many times, we combine two or three technologies into the same platform without any problem. However, we did have a horrible experience with Forcepoint in the past. Some of the project deployments were not very great, specifically for applications offering very specific services to users. I would rate Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall an eight out of ten. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fully-featured and comes with everything required What is most valuable? The most valuable features are mainly the Management and the Active capabilities. What needs improvement? From a managerial point of view, as long as you have proper training, it's very easy to manage this firewall. Something that I've noticed that Forcepoint lacks, is the training that they offer to their customers. It's quite expensive, I believe it costs roughly $11,000. Because of this, we haven't been fully trained in this solution; to get the most out of this product, you need proper training. That is the only negative comment I have surrounding Forcepoint. Aside from the expensive training, I honestly can't think of another issue. It's a fully-featured firewall that comes with everything required. The version that we are using has a single power supply, whereas we would prefer having dual power supplies on or firewalls. For how long have I used the solution? Our company has been using Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall for roughly two years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? Stability-wise, I have never had any major issues with it. No matter the situation, it has always served its purpose. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Scalability-wise, I cannot comment because we have not increased the number of firewalls or the number of nodes on our existing firewall. Although we have not implemented these changes, I know that it's very easy to increase the number of nodes and bandwidth, which means that it is very scalable, but from an on-premise point of view, we haven't done that. How are customer service and technical support? We've never had a negative experience with customer support. They have always been quickly available. I can't complain, I think they have a pretty good team. What other advice do I have? I don't have anything bad to say about the product. I absolutely love it. On a scale from one to ten, I would give this solution a rating of nine. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable and easy to deploy, covers both network and systems applications What is our primary use case? We use it for a government network, here in Fiji. What is most valuable? Forcepoint is a complete package because it has network and systems applications. Other firewalls are only for the network. For how long have I used the solution? At the moment we are in a test phase. It's a demo for us. After the trial finishes, we may decide what packages to pay for. We haven't used all the packages. What do I think about the stability of the solution? It's very robust. It's very strong compared to every other firewall I've used. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? It can handle a lot. How are customer service and technical support? They should have a local vendor who can provide support. Most of the support is overseas, so the time zones can be a problem. When we do contact them they are very easy to work with and very helpful. How was the initial setup? The initial setup was straightforward because we did it with someone who came to us with the product. It took us a couple of days and then we tested it before we put it in production. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? It is expensive. Which other solutions did I evaluate? Forcepoint is easier to use than Fortinet. We are also looking at Cisco ASA. But Fortinet and Cisco don't have all the packages that Forcepoint has. It's not comparing like things. What other advice do I have? It's a nice product. I haven't come across anything that needs to be improved. It is very capable, very reliable, and easy to deploy. It covers all your networking needs for a big enterprise network. If you have a small business you should go with FortiGate or Cisco. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good console management, but the interface is not user-friendly and application filtering needs finer granularity What is our primary use case? We had planned on using this product as our multi-tenant firewall. After one year, we stopped using it because there was a problem with supporting some of the protocols. What is most valuable? The most valuable feature is the console management. It is very good and the security was great. What needs improvement? The interface is not user-friendly. We were told that we would receive training but it came late and we had already started to deal with the product, which ultimately caused problems because we did it incorrectly. If the vendor focused more heavily on training as opposed to implementation then it would be a big improvement. The UTM features are missing. Application filtering is supported at a high level, but not at a low level. If I want to allow access to Facebook, yet not allow the user to access videos, then I am not able to do it with this product. Essentially, I'm allowed to block but I'm not allowed to limit. With other vendors, I can impose limits. They need to add support for the Routing Information Protocol, RIP. There is no support for the Built.io NIC driver. For how long have I used the solution? I had been working with the Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall for about one year. What do I think about the stability of the solution? We had Forcepoint NGFW running on a virtual machine and it was very stable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? From the design that we took, it had the ability to scale up to 250 clients. That was good for what we needed but we failed with the first customer and could not complete the implementation for the second one. In our environment, we had ten users. How are customer service and technical support? We contacted technical support but it was not the typical support situation where we opened a ticket and they responded. We were in contact with them directly. Because it was irregular, I cannot judge how good or bad the support would normally be. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? We are currently using three other vendors including Check Point, Fortinet, and Palo Alto. These have always been there but we were hoping to add Forcepoint as another option. How was the initial setup? The initial setup is complicated and difficult to do. By comparison, we have a very large number of products implemented in our environment and we can deploy most of them ourselves. The deployment took almost seven months and ultimately, we failed. During our work on the deployment, we had two people handling the maintenance. What about the implementation team? We received assistance directly from the vendor. There were several people who took part in the implementation including five from our side, one from the vendor, and two from the distributor. The help that we received from them was awesome. The distributor knows the product more from a theoretical point of view. When it comes to the hands-on experience, they know the basics. When the person from the vendor came, they knew more about the product but had no experience with the multi-tenant aspect. So, for the part that we needed, they were failing. We spent a lot of time and received help from different people, and it was still a failure in the end. We disposed of the product. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? We paid for a subscription license, vendor support, and the training. Which other solutions did I evaluate? We are a large service provider and we are always looking for new solutions. We had evaluated solutions by Sophos and SonicWall, although we decided that we were going to try Forcepoint. We would not say No to another try with Forcepoint if, for example, they come back to us with a new version in another year. It would have to have documentation to show that what we want to do is now supported. What other advice do I have? We tried a few implementations and we did not have very much success because the interface is not user-friendly and the product is complicated. If we had the training on time then it may have been easy but that wasn't the case. The biggest lesson that I learned from using this solution is that you can't trust what people tell you. When they say that they will take care of things and support it, that is not included. My advice for anybody who is implementing this solution is to make sure that the training is completed first, ahead of trying to implement it. I would rate this solution a four out of ten. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good blocking and very stable but needs better network functionality What is our primary use case? I provide Forcepoint services to my clients. What is most valuable? The blocking, based on the signal provided, is the solution's most valuable aspect. From my perspective, the user interface is decent. What needs improvement? Decryption needs improvement. It could be better in terms of the bandwidth and in terms of the speed of the tasks. The solution needs to build upon its network functionality. It needs to be a bit smarter. Communication with the cloud will be integral to the future of this solution. It needs to be easily deployed with the cloud going forward. The solution would also benefit from working within a multi-cloud environment. It should work with everything from Google to Azure to Salesforce. They need to have a more complex API to be able to successfully connect with other clouds and stations. For how long have I used the solution? I've been using the solution for about one year now. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution is stable. It's reliable. We have no issues there. We don't see any bugs or glitches. The solution doesn't crash. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? A company would have absolutely no problem scaling this solution. If a team needs to build it out, they can do so quite easily. How are customer service and technical support? We've contacted technical support in the past. They are decent. They provide enough support services to cover our needs. We are satisfied with the level of service they've provided us so far. How was the initial setup? The initial setup is easy to get started and the deployment itself is pretty simple. The customer's infrastructure can really be diverse, however, and that will affect deployment. There are different complexities involved in the setup from the client's side. That's where complexity can really come in. The infrastructure, routines, and network traffic all vary and bring in their own unique challenges. Typically, deployment takes about a week to complete. What other advice do I have? We're a developing company that works with a lot of legacy suppliers that offer clients security solutions. From my perspective, such legacy supplier companies such as McAfee, Checkpoint, and Forcepoint. We help our clients implement certain solutions. I would absolutely recommend the solution. When it comes to the ease of deployment of the functionality, I would strongly recommend it. Forcepoint has great security functionality. However, one downside that is I see is that they need to improve some network functionality. This is very important due to the fact that network functionality is very crucial when it comes to deploying the solution. I would rate the solution seven out of ten overall. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? On-premises Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Configuration is complex, and the interface is outdated, but it's relatively stable What is our primary use case? Many of our clients have a two-stage firewall. They use one vendor in the data center and another on-prem, so we have to choose between Forcepoint or Cisco. There are choices, but many of our clients have Forcepoint. What needs improvement? Configuration is not easy because it has an old-fashioned interface. The configuration interface is highly complex, and it's been the same for years. They have to change the interface. The structure of the configuration interface isn't like Palo Alto or FortiGate where you can do everything from a single screen. With Forcepoint, you have to import or assign rules because it's working with SMC, the central firewall management. Also, you cannot communicate directly with the product. You have to communicate with the product through the management interface. The dashboard also should be updated. For how long have I used the solution? I'm the PS manager, and our team is working with many products, including an email gateway and Forcepoint Next-Generation Firewall. We've been using it for more than four years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? Forcepoint's stability is satisfactory, for the most part, but when you have a log increase, you will face issues. If the hard disk is full of logs, it won't accept any configuration. How are customer service and support? If you want help from the support desk, you have to contact tech support and ask them to access the product to go through more troubleshooting. It's the same with web, email, and DLP. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? We use multiple firewall solutions, including Cisco, Palo Alto, and FortiGate. How was the initial setup? Setting up Forcepoint is okay, but you have to import the device and establish tunnel communication between the device and the SMC or the central management team. Deployment takes about five days from beginning to final confirmation, and we have a team of about six people for managing Forcepoint. According to the policy, you have to do things according to the number of clients behind the firewall. It's not straightforward, and it depends on the number of parameters or assets as well as the configuration the customer requires. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The license is based on the number of clients behind the web gateway. If you increase the number of agents, the license will cost more. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Feature-rich, easy to install and maintain What is our primary use case? I offer our clients the Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall. I work as a presales representative and a product manager for Forcepoint. I'm working on product demonstration demos and proofs-of-concept. I give customers sessions and show them firewall demos. Even if it's on-premises, cloud-based, or virtualized. What is most valuable? It's all about the firewalls, how to deploy them, what the main features of the firewall are, what it is best suited for, the advantages, the pros, and the cons. What needs improvement? I would like to see more sizing in the next release, and the roadmap should be clear. More models are needed to compete in terms of firewall sizing. For how long have I used the solution? I have been dealing with Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall for three months. What do I think about the stability of the solution? Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall is a stable solution. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall is a scalable product. I work with various types of users and organizations. We have maybe, starting with 20,000 users to 100 users. How are customer service and support? Technical support is not within my scope because I work as a pre-sales representative for one of Forcepoint's partners. How was the initial setup? The installation is straightforward. It is easy to install. It can take less than 20 minutes to install the firewall. Depending on the number of firewalls, one engineer will be required to implement one solution. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? It requires a yearly subscription. What other advice do I have? I would recommend this solution to others who are interested in using it. I would rate Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall an eight out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quick setup but configuration could be improved What is our primary use case? I use Next Generation Firewall as the main point of security in our infrastructure. What is most valuable? Next Generation Firewall's best feature is that it can be managed on one platform. What needs improvement? Next Generation Firewall's configuration could be improved. For how long have I used the solution? I've been using Next Generation Firewall for a month. How was the initial setup? The initial setup was straightforward, and the full configuration took two to three hours. What about the implementation team? We used an in-house team. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? Next Generation Firewall is moderately priced. What other advice do I have? I would rate Next Generation Firewall five out of ten. Rated 5 out of 5 by from A good and simple solution, but becomes unstable when more features, like auto-scaling are introduced What is our primary use case? Forcepoint is a next-generation firewall, we are using it as a firewall for one of our customers, which includes one data center and 95 branches. Using the SD-WAN feature on Forcepoint NGFW, we provide a secure connection from all the branches to the data center. What is most valuable? We like the scalability of Forcepoint because, with the Forcepoint NGFW solution, we can scale anything. The solution has central management, so we can manage all the branches and devices centrally in one controller. This also allows the customer to manage the solution centrally. Forcepoint comes with the SD-WAN feature, which connects all the branches and devices to the data center with a central connection. We bypass using a VPN or IPsec or anything like that because Forcepoint can do it automatically. Also, one of the controller benefits is that it can monitor the tech, meaning all the devices that are managed by Forcepoint. What needs improvement? I think some of the customers who already use Forcepoint will benefit from using SD-WAN because it has features like auto-scaling, but I think the auto-scaling needs improvement since only Forcepoint NGFW comes with the SD-WAN solution. Plus, auto-scaling is an important tool and it still may not be good enough for some customers, so I think there is room for more improvement in the auto-scaling feature in SD-WAN. We have also gotten a slow response from technical support when we experienced hiccups, errors, and bugs. I think there is a lot of room for improvement in the support capabilities. For how long have I used the solution? My company has been using the solution for about one year. What do I think about the stability of the solution? For a simple deployment with simple requirements, like firewall blocking and connecting to the LAN or data center, the stability of the device is quite good. However, when it comes to a complex deployment, the rules, firewall features, SD-WAN core features, and auto-scaling can cause the device to be not quite stable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? We like the scalability of Forcepoint because with the Forcepoint NGFW solution, we can scale anything. However, I think there is room for more improvement in the auto-scaling feature in SD-WAN. How are customer service and support? I think their support capabilities have a lot of room for improvement because my company has had several issues. Of course, other products have issues too, but they have good support that helps us deliver a solution to the customer. With Forcepoint, however, the technical support is slow and I think the support team needs to be improved. How was the initial setup? The installation is quite simple, but when it comes to configuration we need to know why the customer is implementing the solution. Firewalling or connecting other branches is a simple configuration but with something like auto-scaling or antivirus, Forcepoint needs to be more straightforward. What about the implementation team? I think we deployed a data center in a half-day, so you can deploy the controller or the data center in about a day. The time it takes to activate and configure each branch varies, and may range from 15-40 minutes. Once we activate the solution and set it up for the customer, they connect it to the internet with our password and can begin working. Overall, I think one week is more than enough time for a thorough deployment. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? There are some options for licensing. I think usually the licenses are valid for three years, but in my country we only have the option of a one-year license. The license is gauged on the requirements and the controller. There is a basic license and an advanced license, which offers more protection for antiviruses, like web category filtering. What other advice do I have? I think Forcepoint is a good simple solution for firewalling. Because of the instability we faced within our project, which I think can be common with Forcepoint, I would only recommend this solution for a retail business with minimal, non-complex requirements. If you need more SD-WAN features, like auto-scaling, I don't think I would recommend Forcepoint. I would rate this solution as a five out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? On-premises Disclaimer: My company has a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer:Partner

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A stable solution that has improved a lot What is our primary use case? We are a platinum partner of Forcepoint. We work on most of the Forcepoint portfolio, such as web security, event security, and DLP at the endpoint level as well as at the laptop level. This solution can be used for different use cases. You can deploy it as an IPS near the data center zone. You can also put it in-line, which is recommended most of the time not only for Forcepoint but also for many other next-generation firewall vendors. Otherwise, you need to deploy it as a normal next-generation firewall and enable some specific IPS policies on the firewall itself. One of our customers needed encryption between remote sites. We have a professional services team that handles the implementation of these solutions. We install the latest version of this solution. Most of the customers ask for an on-premises deployment. There are some customers who ask for a private cloud deployment. What is most valuable? It is a stable solution, and there are no issues so far. What needs improvement? Its management center should be easier to use. The management interface of Forcepoint is unique and a little bit different from some of the firewall solutions on which people might have worked before. Sometimes, the customers say that it is not very friendly, and we help them with how to use this management interface. It just takes a little bit of time, and after some time, it gets easy to manage or use. It is quite similar to Palo Alto, Fortinet, and legacy Juniper solutions. Their support should be faster. We have received complaints that they are not responding fast, which is not good for the vendor and us. For how long have I used the solution? I have been working with this solution for almost five years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? It is stable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? We have around 50 users of this solution in our company. How are customer service and technical support? Their technical support is not bad, but it is also not good at the same time. It should be faster, especially for the RMA. We understand the situation related to the pandemic, but their response wasn't good even prior to that. I believe it is something related to logistics. How was the initial setup? The initial setup is of medium complexity. It is neither straightforward nor complex. If you want to implement a new firewall, you need to connect it to something called SMC or security management center, which is the main thing. It is the brain of the firewall, and without that, you cannot manage the firewalls. There are certain steps that need to be done on the SMC to do the configuration of the firewall. What about the implementation team? We are not a big company. We have two post-sales people who provide professional service. We have two to three pre-sales people as well as technicians. What other advice do I have? I would recommend this solution in general. We have collected a lot of feedback from customers related to the management, which we will forward to Forcepoint, and then after some time, they will take action on that. They have improved a lot since they were acquired from McAfee. Earlier, if you wanted to access SMC, you needed remote desktop access to the server or you had to install a small software from the SMC as a client to control the firewall. Customers used to ask us about why they cannot access the firewall management by UI or browser when most of the other firewalls already have such access. We received a lot of such feedback from customers, and when we escalated this to Forcepoint, they took a serious note of it. After some time, they released that option. You can now access the management center through UI, which is a good improvement. I would rate Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall an eight out of ten. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Security works well, reasonably priced but difficult to configure What is our primary use case? The solution has the ability to stop the latest malware threats and any exploits to computer systems. What is most valuable? It does well in security, for data security, and it ranks on the top of NSS Lab. What needs improvement? Forcepoint is a little difficult to configure compared to its competitors. The product could be more user friendly. Firewalls are getting better in graphical user interfaces. If there is an issue with the appliances then the engineering team can work on the command line controls. A cheaper way is a graphical user interface for any users to be able to quickly configuration and implement. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using the solution for three years. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? It is a scalable product. I know a customer who has deployed more than 4,000 firewalls in a single deployment. How are customer service and technical support? The technical support is good. How was the initial setup? The installation can take a little while depending on the number of sites that someone has. Usually, for single deployment, it takes one or two days. What about the implementation team? In our deployment team, we have over 2000 users. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The pricing of the solution is normally competitive with other products. What other advice do I have? I would probably not recommend the product to customers because it is not top of the line. It depends on the customer though, their usage, budget, etc. If they have the budget I would probably recommend Palo Alto Networks, not Forcepoint. I rate Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall a six out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent customer service, good reporting and user management and easy to use overall What is our primary use case? We use the solution in a data center for security. What is most valuable? When comparing this solution to others this one has better reporting, user management, and is easy to use. What needs improvement? No firewall is perfect but they could improve on the detections of threats. What do I think about the stability of the solution? They need to work on stability, it has not been the best in our experience. How are customer service and technical support? We have been very satisfied with the customer service. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? We have used other solutions in the past. How was the initial setup? The installation was not easy at first but then after a while of doing installations, it became easy. What about the implementation team? We do the implementation of the solutions, we have a team that does it. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? We have found the price could be reduced. It is a little expensive. What other advice do I have? I recommend this solution, we are going to continue using it. I rate Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall a ten out of ten. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stable, scalable, and great support What is most valuable? It is stable and scalable. In addition, their support is great. When you ask them for something, they provide support, and if required, they also involve the R&D team to help you to resolve the issues in your configuration. What needs improvement? They need to increase the local support here. There are also some bugs or fixes on which they need to work. They very well know about these bugs. In terms of licensing, I would like them to either increase the number of features in a single license or make licensing more flexible. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using this solution for two years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? It is stable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? It is scalable. We have many customers, and some of them have from 500 to 1,000 users. How are customer service and technical support? Their support is great. How was the initial setup? Its initial setup is easy, but it also depends on the size of the implementation. The implementation of email security and web security is also easy, but the implementation of DLP is very complicated and can take six to eight months. You can install the software in an hour, but there are a lot of configuration changes, and some critical information must be gathered from the customer for implementation and configuration, which takes time. What about the implementation team? The number of people required to deploy and implement this solution varies. We have four or five technical staff members who can do the implementation. We have the same number of people for its support after the implementation. From the customer side, a local team is required to work with and manage this solution. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? Everything in Forcepoint comes with an individual license, which is kind of a problem. In our last meeting, they said that it may change at the beginning of 2021, and they will try to merge some licenses together. Customers will get more features than what they got previously. We will wait and see. What other advice do I have? Forcepoint is a very big company with a very good product line. It fulfills most of the needs of the customers, especially enterprise customers in the financial sector. I use Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall as well as the DLP, web, and email solutions from Forcepoint. No other solution can compete with Forcepoint's DLP solution. We are going to keep using Forcepoint products. Some of our customers are only interested in Forcepoint. I would rate Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall a nine out of ten. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Straightforward to install and has good local support, but the throughput and integration with other products should be improved What is our primary use case? We are using this solution as our corporate firewall. What is most valuable? This solution is quite good. What needs improvement? It's a good firewall but we are looking for features that are available in Palo Alto. My team is looking for more throughput and better integration with our security framework. Better integration with other platforms would be an improvement. For how long have I used the solution? We have been using Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall for one year. We are using the latest version. What do I think about the stability of the solution? Forcepoint is stable and we plan to continue using it in the future. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? This is a scalable product. We have approximately 300 users. How are customer service and technical support? We can get local support, which has been okay so far. The people we deal with is a local partner in Cambodia and we can get good support from them. How was the initial setup? The installation was not an issue for us. What about the implementation team? Our in-house team did it with the help of our local partner. We have three or four IT people who take care of deployment and maintenance. Which other solutions did I evaluate? We are still evaluating other products such as Palo Alto. One of our goals is to minimize the number of different vendors that we have. Ideally, we would like to have a firewall and security solution with good performance from a single vendor, with a single management console. What other advice do I have? I would rate this solution a seven out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Affords us better centralized management over its competitors with simplicity and flexibility of use What is most valuable? It is very simple, easy to use, and flexible. It is a top solution with a complete feature set. Its most valuable feature involves its environment. What needs improvement? A pain point worth mentioning is the need of the customer or client to properly know the environment as it relates to the presentation of Forcepoint and to have a better knowledge of the product's implementation. For how long have I used the solution? We have been using Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall for six years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? It's very stable product. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? We feel Forcepoint's scalability to be pretty easy and good. It works very well. How are customer service and technical support? We feel the product's technical support could be better, as this relates to the solution itself, to the installation of the product, and to having a proper understanding of the case. How was the initial setup? The initial setup of Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall is not terribly complex. We are talking about three months at the intermediate level. While the deployment of a single firewall depends on the environment, this took us between two to five days. We employ more than 16 people on our staff for the deployment and maintenance of the solution. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall has a good price. Which other solutions did I evaluate? In addition to Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall, we evaluated the concurrency of Palo Alto's features. We feel that Forcepoint affords better centralized management than its competitors. What other advice do I have? Our company makes use of every current version of Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall. Our clients who use Forcepoint run the gamut from small, medium to large businesses. I would rate this solution a nine out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Features a scalable firewall and a great VPN What is our primary use case? Our customer uses this solution as a standard next-generation firewall and VPN. What is most valuable? The VPN is great. What needs improvement? It lacks something called a change of authority. It also lacks more integration with other VPN clients. Also, the ability to dynamically change policies could be improved. For how long have I used the solution? We installed this solution for one of our customers one year ago. What do I think about the stability of the solution? This solution is very reliable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Adding users is very straightforward. How are customer service and technical support? I would give their technical support a rating of seven or eight out of ten. How was the initial setup? The initial setup is very straightforward. It only takes a matter of minutes. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The licensing is perpetual. The cost is fair, but it could be improved. What other advice do I have? If you have Cisco integration, then I wouldn't recommend this solution — it won't integrate. It depends upon the endpoint security. If you have Cisco endpoints, you'll lack certain protections, especially in this multi-vendor environment. Overall, on a scale from one to ten, I would give Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall a rating of eight. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good performance, centrally managed, and scales well What is our primary use case? We use this product to improve our security, as part of our overall solution that includes antivirus, IPS, and other products. What is most valuable? The centralized management is very good. Performance is a good point. What needs improvement? The security features need to be improved. For how long have I used the solution? We have been using Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall for a few months. What do I think about the stability of the solution? This is a stable product. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? This solution scales well and the performance is not degraded. We have 35 registered users in the organization. How are customer service and technical support? We are satisfied with the support. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? Prior to this solution, we were using SonicWall. We switched because we wanted to have a centralized management platform, and we also wanted to increase diversity in our firewall products. How was the initial setup? This firewall is easy to install, as well as configure. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The pricing should be more competitive against other vendors in the market. We are looking at putting firewalls across all of our locations and want to get a better price so that we can do so. This would be great because we would like to have the same firewall at all of our locations. What other advice do I have? This is a good product and I have already recommended it to one of my friends that is now implementing it in the educational sector. I would rate this solution a nine out of ten. Rated 5 out of 5 by from A next-generation firewall solution with a useful IPS feature What is our primary use case? We use it for SD-WAN, IPS, VPN, and subscription keys on the cloud or have an MDM on-premises. What is most valuable? I like the IPS. IPS is the master feature. I depend on the firewall and sandbox. What needs improvement? Management could be better. They can improve the management. I think all our customers can't accept firewalls that have standalone management. So, they prefer Fortinet or Palo Alto. But overall, inspection and other features are working fine. For how long have I used the solution? I have been working with Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall for four years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? With Forcepoint, we can cluster as a team firewall, and we can do great without downtime. Our sales team can sell Forcepoint because of this feature. How are customer service and technical support? I would give technical support an eight out of ten. We had an issue with them because we had only support level one for each case we opened. We want them to improve their technical support because I still have three cases open from this year. From January until now, technical support didn't solve it. I feel like it's an easy case like the client's VPN and user ID, and it shouldn't take around five months. How was the initial setup? The initial configuration is straightforward, and we can use it with the cloud. But sometimes, there are network issues we can't see when we're using the ethernet cable. I think you need an engineer with some experience before implementing the first implementation by yourself. The time it takes to deploy this solution depends on the features I have to implement or configure. Normally, it takes five or six working days, but it might take another week if I have issues with the VPN or user IDs. What about the implementation team? We are an integrator. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? We have just a subscription for the cloud, and this license is great. The license is so good. What other advice do I have? On a scale from one to ten, I would give Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall an eight. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top feature is the integrated multi-layer filtering??. The GUI could use a revamp. Valuable Features: Integrated multi-layer filtering Improvements to My Organization: McAfee NSP helps the organization by filtering most of the active inbound attacks that would otherwise compromise the users and servers. It's automated and fast response allow the organization to leave it as it is and apply automated updates to its signature. Room for Improvement: Intel could ditch the Java-based GUI rendering and could use some serious revamp on the way they manage their GUI. A lot of bugs happen on their GUI but their system is working fine. Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent for clustering but not a user-friendly solution with very bad GUI What is most valuable? One of the most valuable features is having the ability to cluster multiple firewalls even if they are different versions. What needs improvement? It's a complicated firewall. Until you come to know the firewall inducers, most people don't like the firewall because the components for it are a little bit complex. User-friendliness is a little bit tough. It needs to be more user-friendly when creating policies, and pushing policies. Committing takes more time compared to Palo Alto. The solution needs to invest in its GUI. The interface is very bad and not user-friendly. For how long have I used the solution? I've been using the solution for three years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? It's a stable firewall. There's no issue on the stability. When it comes to the detection rate of the IP, it is the most powerful solution for detection-ready tests, like evasion techniques etc. Forcepoint is a leader on the market. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The solution is very simple to scale. You just need to keep on adding devices. The firewall can cluster with multiple different models. Scalability-wise, this firewall will be the best firewall for an organization who is operating with a low budget. We typically implement for medium-sized to enterprise-level organizations. How are customer service and technical support? Technical support is okay. It takes too long to get a response because the support comes directly from the Netherlands, and they may have very limited employees. The engineers are quite technical, but the response is very slow. How was the initial setup? The initial setup is complex. What about the implementation team? We are an integrator that helps with the installation. The initial installation needs a high level of knowledge because it's not like other firewalls where you have one single appliance. You need to have a separate machine to manage the firewall. The firewall is just a dummy device and all the configurations are done on a Windows machine. Sometimes, in the case of the unavailability of a Windows machine, you cannot do much with the firewall. What other advice do I have? What others need to know is that they need to have a clear idea of why they're going for this particular firewall. They need to know if are they looking for clustering or if are they looking for link load balancing. If they're not going for clustering, I would suggest they go with the most moderate firewalls like Palo Alto or Fortinet. A certain type of attack, such as evasion techniques, isn't something that other firewalls really protect against. According to NSS Labs, Forcepoint firewall has been on top for the last consecutive four or so years because of the detection rate of evasion techniques that other firewalls failed to detect. The clustering of our ISP links is a nice feature that other firewalls also should have. It is a helpful feature, but it is not a user-friendly solution as a whole. I would rate the solution five out of ten. User-friendliness is the most important reason I've rated it so low. After Cisco firewalls, no next-gen firewalls have come to the market. So if they want to compete with these firewalls, they need to enhance the overall user-friendliness of the solution. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very user friendly, with a straightforward setup and relatively good stability What is most valuable? The simplicity of the solution is its most valuable asset. It's very user-friendly. What needs improvement? The solution's support could use improvement. I'm in the MENA region so most of the time we were getting support from Europe. They should include a license watch solution on their back-end. For how long have I used the solution? I've been using the solution for two years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution is stable. We haven't been worried about a lack of stability affecting us in the latest version or in the patches. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The solution isn't scalable. We have about 5,000 users, but they are never on it at the same time. Traffic just passes through. How are customer service and technical support? I'd rate technical support at eight out of ten, but they're response times are suddenly a bit longer because most of them are in Europe and some are in India. It there was someone in MENA it would be much quicker because the time differences affect reaction times. How was the initial setup? If you are not familiar with the setup, the initial implementation can be complex. For me, because I'm comfortable with firewalls, it was straightforward. What other advice do I have? We use the on-premises deployment model. I'd recommend the solution, but it depends on the requirements of the user. I'd rate it eight out of ten. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Offers real-time logins for traffic logs and troubleshooting is easy What is our primary use case? I work for a distribution company. We implement around 2,300 firewalls in Egypt for schools. We use the licenses to manage all these firewalls together and push policies for the firewall. We use it for security to restrict some rules for accessing the internet for students. What is most valuable? The most valuable feature is controlling the traffic and the logging. They have real-time logins for traffic logs. Troubleshooting was very easy for me. What needs improvement? They should have a GUI on the product itself, not a separate management tool to be used on the management server or on a server to be used to manage the file. It should be all in one device. The device should be controlled through its own GUI. They also have to improve the learning center and the documents as the documents don't really help. In the next release, they should improve the documentation. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using Forcepoint for around one year. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The firewall is stable. We haven't had any stability issues. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? It is scalable. How are customer service and technical support? Technical support can be better. The support themselves are skilled but when you call for support you have to wait for a long time to get a response. They should improve their call center. How was the initial setup? The initial setup was straightforward. It is done on the firewall itself. What other advice do I have? I recommended this solution mostly for large enterprises, a project that needs more than 100 firewalls to be managed. They have a very good management tool as security management centers. I would rate it an eight out of ten. Disclaimer: My company has a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer:Partner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Has good performance and security and offers everything in one package What is our primary use case? Our customers use Forcepoint like a cluster, which is standby active and passive. They also use it for the perimeter firewall, so it's on-premises. The primary use case for this solution is when a customer asks for something that does automatic optimization, as well as security at the same time. It also has high performance capabilities, including enabling the SSL decryption feature. I recommend Forcepoint for these customers. If the customer has another solution for deep packet inspection of SSL encrypted traffic, I recommend Palo Alto, because they already have a solution for deep packet inspection for the kind of traffic in the network. From my point of view, at this point they do not need Forcepoint, so I would recommend Palo Alto. What needs improvement? They are great in every single area except for the optimization feature. The optimization is not really ready. If you want very good optimization, you have to add it to the network. I think if they make some enhancements in that area, they will replace every other product in no time. We also need more IPS detection rules. For how long have I used the solution? We've been using this solution for about one year. What do I think about the stability of the solution? I have a very good impression of this stability. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? After three or five years, if you want to change the model with a bigger model because of the network expansion, I think they support that. Our clients are huge enterprise businesses. How are customer service and technical support? I've never actually contact technical support because I'm not the person who is responsible for that. I heard that they are okay. How was the initial setup? The initial setup is straightforward. The installation is very easy. With full functions, it takes about five days to deploy. We have a technical team that does deployment for Forcepoint, Palo Alto, etc. We do the implementations of every security product that we provide. We use two people to deploy Forecpoint NGF: a senior engineer and junior engineer. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? I believe the licensing fee is for one year, three years, and five years, or something like that. If you want to increase the support level from a simpler level to platinum, I think that there's a cost. There are differences between every kind of support, but I don't know the numbers. What other advice do I have? They just need to make sure that their environment is ready for implementing the firewall. They have to prepare for about two hours of downtime because we need some downtime to do the initial configuration. They need to be prepared for the deployment plan. That's all. The biggest lesson I learned is that you cannot provide everything in one box. You can provide everything in one box, but you cannot provide everything deeply with the same quality all in one box. You need to give up on something to gain another. I'm always telling the customer, what's your biggest issue? Is it security or performance? Is it task optimization? What is your biggest concern? Based on their answer, I recommend one of the vendors that we work with. If he said that he does not have any problems with anything, he just wants to get everything, then I provide them with Forcepoint and tell them that they will have some issues in a certain area. If he is okay with that, we go with the product. If he isn't okay and cannot accept that risk or that point, then we go with another vendor. What I learned from them is that you can provide everything in one box, but you cannot provide everything with the same quality in that box. They have really good capabilities if you want to use it. So I do recommend them in some cases, when the customer needs some optimization, along with performance and security. If they want everything in one package, I recommend Forcepoint because they have everything. That's why I recommend Forcepoint in that situation. I would rate the solution as eight out of ten. If they solve the problem of optimization and added those IPS rules, I believe that they would deserve nine of ten. Nothing is perfect, though. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Characterization features captures a lot of threats and they have great support What is our primary use case? We just use this firewall for security in terms of network access. What is most valuable? The support is great. They also have very good categorization. It's very good. It captures a lot of threats. What needs improvement? The first point to improve is just a matter of updates. We are moving to the cloud, so we want to use virtual licenses on the cloud. We need to move from on-premises to the cloud. We would love to take another solution from Forcepoint, but unfortunately, the price is too high. That's why we are not considering using Forcepoing for our proxy and DLB. They have a very good DLB, but the matter, in the end, is the cost. For how long have I used the solution? We have been using this solution for over five years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? It is very stable, especially the front end. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Yes, this solution is scalable. What other advice do I have? I recommended Forcepoint to be implemented. I would rate this solution as nine out of ten. It would be a full ten if it had integration with endpoints. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Centralized security management eases configuration to help prevent attacks What is our primary use case? Our primary use case for this solution is as a perimeter between our internal and external networks. It is a critical security firewall. We have an on-premises deployment. What is most valuable? The Security management console is fantastic. The central security management center and the content management center are very good. What needs improvement? This solution would be improved with the inclusion of custom reporting. The pre-prepared reports are ok, but sometimes, perhaps once a month, I would like to create some custom reports. In the next release of this solution, I would like to have an application proxy. In our previous solution, Sidewinder, we had this capability. For example, if you want to allow SSH traffic then you can set or restrict some features of this protocol, and you can look into the traffic using SSH Insight. Some examples of applications that I would like to see are Oracle and RDP. For how long have I used the solution? We have been using this solution since 2015. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The stability of this solution is absolutely fantastic. There have been no problems since we implemented this solution in 2015. It acts as the edge between our internal and external networks, and we see many attacks from the outside. They have all been blocked. There is no problem with this solution. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Scalability is fantastic. We are using an active-active cluster and there is no problem with adding another node. Currently, we have a two-node cluster, but there is no problem in adding a third node. This solution protects approximately three hundred users. How are customer service and technical support? The technical support for this solution is great. We have a support contract and we can create a ticket when required. They have solved our problems. If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch? Prior to this solution, we used Sidewinder. That solution was discontinued and we were at the end of support for our hardware. How was the initial setup? The initial setup of this solution is not easy. It is an enterprise solution that is very complex and not easy to set up. When we replaced our previous solution, the process took approximately two days. However, there was a period of analysis after this that took about one month. The analysis involved our current system, our network infrastructure, and our data center. We have three administrators who maintain this solution. One of them is on-premises and two of them administer remotely. It is not possible to manage the security system using only one person because it is too complicated. It requires a team to discuss problems when they arise, including how they should be solved, or how attacks should be blocked. Cooperation on these matters is necessary. What about the implementation team? We involved our security partner for the implementation of this solution because it is very complex. Three people were required for the deployment, including a network specialist, our partner, and myself. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? This is not a very expensive solution. The big advantage of this solution is that we can select the right model for our requirements, which is not too expensive. There are many hardware models and different appliances. We have a license for an unlimited number of users because it is necessary for our solution. If it were not unlimited then we would have a problem. This is probably dependent on the appliance model. Which other solutions did I evaluate? Before choosing this solution we evaluated Check Point. What other advice do I have? Forcepoint is my favorite enterprise firewall. The security management center is the best part of this solution. It is always very simple to see the state of the firewall and to configure it to look for faults. The quality of this component is very high. Previous solutions were not very good with respect to the management center, but now, in this solution, it is very good. This is the main reason that I recommend this solution to others. This feature is absolutely necessary if you want to configure devices to prevent attacks. I would rate this solution a ten out of ten.
