The connector of the original adapter got bent slightly somehow, and after years of no problems, finally caused the laptop to complain.

If this power cord is no different than the last 3 I purchased for this laptop, then I give it 6-9 months, tops, before it starts failing to charge, and I have to buy another one. Do better Dell. Your customers notice these sort of things.

Dells Website is no bueno (same with the checkout)
Barely does the job. When I was on Dell's terrible website I did a search for accessories using the make / model of my laptop. It defaulted to the 45W version and the 60W was buried under all kinds of irrelevant results I've now discovered. I'm not sure why they'd even make two strengths of ac adapters? Anyway, as soon as it arrives, my laptop cautions me that this is not the best adapter for powering my computer. And it's not. It takes years longer than the one that came with my machine. I'm very unhappy with Dell, and their invasive process to even check out and buy an accessory. Now they spam me with useless emails like "features of your accessory" and inside the message are sales pitches that have nothing to do with my purchased accessory. I'd give it one star except it does power my laptop, barely.

LEMON COMPUTER! Charger doesn't work! Other ports constantly break!
The adaptor cord does not fit my computer. It does not make contact with the charger port. I need it because the USB3 charger port is shoddy and breaks constantly. I have to hold the USB3 at an angle to make contact and am in constant danger of the charge running out of my computer if I'm not watching constantly. We had Dell come in and re-solder the USB3 port TWICE! while it was still under warranty. After the second time, the motherboards had to be reset and swapped out because it was refusing to turn on with some four white two red flash signal coming from the power light. Now it is no longer under warranty and I suppose we'll have to pay for fixing the USB3 port. I at least wanted this power cord for use at home and while traveling, but it does not work. Over the last 4 years using this computer, I have spent almost an equal time with a loaner computer and constantly worrying about keeping the chargers and the dock plugged to make contact or spending an hour fiddling and turning it on and off to get the computer to even turn on when I could get power. LEMON!!!

I had an accident with the original power cord of my laptop. Even though the cord is still functional, I did not want to take any risk and decided to get a new one. First bad experience with a Dell product
I had been having trouble finding a replacement charger for my Dell laptop that worked. I finally decided to give up on finding a cheap one and ordered one from Dell directly. I was very disappointed when the power tip on the Dell charger did not fit. It would go into the socket, but would not stay connected, slipping right out.

The number of choices are excessive and not easy to understand. The descriptions are not complete and its easy to order the wrong one as I did. Then you have to go through the return and reorder process, and the reps on the line don't even know which one to order for a specific laptop.

My son advised me to start troubleshooting the problem by purchasing a new power cord. I decided to go directly with Dell rather than by a power cord from another company - even though they said it was compatible with Dell's cord. The extra cost was well worth it.

This makes the 3rd power cord I have with my laptop. The first one the end broke off. The second one wouldn't take plugged it. Any little movement of the laptop and it would fall off. This 3rd is slightly better. I have to be careful of movement and arrange the cord just right. Let's hope it stays that way

It does it work as intended and no issues, but it is almost impossible to pull the socket from the power plug once it is plugged in, because there is no grip at the edge. It is so slippery at the edge. Furthermore, it is really expensive.

Replacement AC Adaptor did not work as recommended for XPS 13
The diameter of the AC adaptor barrel purchased as instructed by Dell sales support for my XPS 13 is 4.5 mm not the 4.9 mm of the original supplied adaptor thus it would not charge properly. I located a used Dell charger from a third party seller with the correct barrel size that does work properly. I had originally attempted to replace my adaptor in early 2023 but was told by Dell sales representatives at the time the original charger may no longer be available due to supply chain issues with the prior manufacturer.

Went onto the dell website and orderd the AC Adapter as per the computer model. It never mentioned the Wattage of the adapter. What I got was a 45W charger while my computer model uses a 65W adapter.

This item works as it should; however the prong that connects to the computer is bent. I haven't contacted Dell about this because it works fine. It is a little concerning, though. Not a fan of the straight jack on a laptop. Dell should offer both a straight or angled jack power cord since they have created a laptop that requires a Dell OEM power cord or you get the "not compatible" pop up when you use any other powder cord. If you are going to limit us to your power cord, at least offer some choices. I gave it a three because even though it is made for my laptop, I occasionally still get a "not compatible" pop up. Why?? Keeping things proprietary keeps us coming back that's why.

I bought this (and another adapter 2 weeks later from Dell to replace the original adapter for my XPS13. Since both items were listed as replacements, and since the Dell associate on the phone verified that each one was the proper match, I was happy to purchase the part. Neither adapter could charge my battery. Dell technicians tried to assist online to no avail. Apparently, the BIOS must be reset, but that can't happen on a low battery charge. It would seem that Dell could provide the same adapter so one could just plug in and resume work. I have returned both adapters, and Dell made the return process very easy. Since my laptop was still under warranty, I ended up replacing my laptop.

I purchased the new cord in the past few months(2021)Jan-Aug. This is the second cord I have had for the same computer and I am having the same issues I had with the first one. The plug that fits in the computer port seems to have a 'short' in the wire(s) leading to it(this is after a short period of using it less than 6 months). I have to 'hold' it in place (or make sure there is no movement to break the connection). This is NOT satisfactory --- this cord is not even 6 months old. There surely is a better quality cord that will last a long time.

This is a standard replacement for the included power adapter. I ordered it for convenience when I am having to use my laptop away from it usual location in my computer room. Rummaging around behind the edsk to get the original unit unplugged and plugged back in was annoying. Purchasing this unit resolves all that.

Power issues since day 1
Just now reading reviews as I've had to take my computer for service 4 times due to seemingly incompatibility issues with the power cord from day 1. Nothing can be done other than the resetting of the power settings by draining/yanking the battery, restarting, and waiting for a few days for it to do the same thing. While I can work with it plugged in it will not even hold a charge. process-ridiculous. I baby every electronic I have never had this specific issue with other Dell computers. Went online to see about buying a new AC adapter from Dell and read the reviews of ALL the other people having the same issue as me. I originally purchased the laptop from QVC. At this point I'm figuring it's a waste of money to buy another adapter if Dell hasn't taken care of anyone else. What a shame. I used to work for Dell. Hate to see them have such lousy customer service.

Not sure what to do if you can’t even get a legitimate AC adapter directly from the manufacturer’s website. Laptop kept showing a pre-loading screen message saying it couldn’t determine the wattage and therefore wouldn’t charge the laptop. I have an Inspiron 5567 which is one of the compatible laptops on the list. My original charger has gotten some wire damage but even that stills works fine, so I know it can’t be an issue with the laptop port or motherboard. I wanted a second one to replace the original before it got to a point I really couldn’t use it anymore, but it looks like I’m out of luck and don’t know what I am going to do once my charger does go completely bust, because there is nothing wrong with the laptop to warrant getting a brand new one just to get a charger

Overpriced cord when its designed to have no alternative for consumers!
Dell makes their laptops so there is no alternative but to buy their overpriced cord. On top of that, when the cord becomes damaged, and the laptop cannot determine if its a dell wire, the computer virtually shuts down, even though the power cord is plugged in and supplying the computer with power. It runs at about 25% speed for loading anything, and internet speed, making it virtually useless. Got the new cord, and just because the computer could tell that it was a dell cord, suddenly the whole laptop comes back to life perfectly. Sounds like a bit of a monopoly to me.

It's what you would expect, though quite pricey compared to other alternatives. It's nice that you can find the exact parts for a PC given it's code, but it would be nice if it was cheaper.

Great replacement for old charger
Bought this recently after my old charger gave out after 7.5 years of daily use (had it and the laptop it came with since 2015). This has been working just fine so far. Charges computer quickly, and a good length for my desk. Exactly what I expected, no complaints.

Testing of Dell laptop charger.
The two included plugs was confusing. When received I saw that it came with the 4.5mm plug for my Inspiron (personal), but also includes a 5mm plug for latitude, (work) do now I am dually covered. I guess these are common sizes. Tested and works well.

Which is the perfect match for my system?
Product is exactly as described, however, the website did not designate which (45 W or 65 W) was recommended for my computer. Even though the 45 W charger works perfectly, once plugged in, my computer subsequently tells me I have engaged an underpowered charger. I could have and should have purchased the other one, had the website designated which one my computer preferred.

It brought my laptop to life. I had almost lost hope that my laptop needs to be replaced and I had also started looking for another laptop when I just thought of taking a chance with just changing the charger. Best decision taken! My laptop works like a charm now and it has resumed it's speed and efficiency. I had a local made charger before this one, probably because of that the laptop had started dying. But I am a happy customer now. :)

Dell 4.5 mm barrel 45 W AC Adapter Power Cord.
Although the adapter is made for my computer it does fit correctly, meaning that it does not always charge my computer when I plug it in. None of the adapters I have used from Dell since the original adapter that came with the computer works. It is nerve-racking to have a presentation and not know if your computer will stay charged. Please help. My computer is no good to me without the ability to keep it charged.

The help I received from the online chat order person was great. He knew what questions to ask and information he needed to get me the correct product. Way better than when I went to a nearby computer store who set me up with a universal charger that did not work at all. The one drawback with this charger is that it doesn't seem to seat in the port tightly and it will stop charging until I get it wiggle it and get just so.

I have given up on 3rd party power cords for my Dell. They are virtually worthless. However, I do find the power cords, whether Dell or3rd party, to be the weak link in this computer system. Both of my daughters in college have Dells ,also. We have replaced the power cords on those, too. I have had to replace the power jack where it plugs in on my computer.
I really like Dell computers! These cords, that is different.

I can't find the receipt for my less than year old Dell laptop which is now a brick. The laptop kept telling me that my cord wasn't working properly and because my dog had bit it, I went ahead and bought a new cord. No. The problem was the charge port which now completely refuses to take a charge. I have no way to repair my computer or get a refund. A computer that's a brick in less than a year?! I will never buy another Dell.

After 1 1/2 years, I had to replace the adapter. I had the replacement less than a month and it suddenly stopped working after less than a month's use. Of course, there is no warranty on the adapter. I will try to find one locally and suggest you do the same.

Adapter wattage and type cannot be determined
The charger itself works just fine, but I still get an error message upon boot up saying the power adapter wattage and type cannot be determined. My Inspiron 5775 runs so slowly when plugged in that it’s practically unusable, and it only charges when the computer is shut down. I specifically paid for a Dell-brand adapter to avoid this problem, having already bought a third-party adapter, but no improvement.

Sometimes you use your laptop in a different way. You don't want to take the charger with you. So when you use it again in that area, its wonderful to automatically charge your laptop and keep on going.

I ordered my laptop through Dell. I also ordered a replacement power cable. It was not the correct wattage, and while it powers the laptop, it doesn’t charge the battery. Since I ordered it through the official Dell system, I would have thought it would have suggested the correct cable. Now I have to exchange and get the correct one.

Worst power adapter ever! I’ve had this laptop less than three years and this is the third time I’ve had to replace the power adapter. I have older laptops and the original power adapter still works. All are Dell laptops. I can’t find a different adapter that works with this new Dell laptop. Very disappointing.

I replaced the current power adapter bc it was getting extremely hot with minimal usage. The new one also gets hot, not as hot but hotter than it should. If there is a problem with this product in general, then Dell should replace it free of charge. I spoke to a Dell rep but was told I would have to buy a new one.

Dell 4.5MM Barrel 45W Power Adapter
This is about the fourth cord I have gone through with my Dell Laptop. I have a hard time keeping the plug that goes into the laptop from wearing out. This might just be me as I keep my laptop on my lap and the cord plugs into from the left and goes to a plug on the right side but they give you plenty of length so it is not straining. I hope this is the last plug I have to order for my Dell laptop. Always brought Dell and do not regret that choice.

Replaced Inspiron 1525 2-in-1 power adapter
I ordered this power adapter to replace the original that came with my Inspiron 1525 2-in-1 laptop, which is now several years old. A few weeks ago, while still using the original, the BIOS began reporting "unable to reliably determine the voltage from the power adapter" (or words to that effect when the machine was restarted. I don't know if the original power adapter was actually the problem but the new one works fine and so far that message has not reappeared.

As it turns out this is the wrong adapter for my vintage Insprion 1750 (16 years old). I found the right one but had to work hard to understand and order the power cord that is required to attach it to AC. Nobody knew it was required and sold separately.

Adapter purchase was fine, why didn't the original one last very long? The Dell laptop that goes with it is still broken because the screen separated from the laptop on the right side and I can't close it all the way. I keep the screen open and sitting on the desk at all times to use it. I can't travel with this Dell laptop anymore. The Dell laptop is a huge disappointment. I will research other laptop brands in the future.

I had ordered a charger from another store that was not DELL and it allowed my lap top to turn on but not charge up. So I went directly to Dell website typed in my lap top which is a few years old and it showed me which one to order. I am so happy it actually charges and it fit perfect an was longer than the original cord that came with my lap top. The other store charged the same price for a product that was not as good. Pricey for what it is and breaks easily
I bought one of these to replace a charger from my daughter's Inspiron. It worked for one day until she accidentally tipped her high school yearbook onto it. It could not have fallen more than 20 cm. However that was sufficient to dislodge the barrel sufficiently to render the charger useless. Perhaps some better reliability testing and hardening against simple accidents is required. Identical chargers from some online vendors are much less expensive, but I purchased this with Dell rewards points. Fool me once...

The correct tool for the job
I purchased this charger for my laptop because at one time my computer fell off the end table and broke my original charger. I purchased a charger that was not an original Dell one and it worked for the most part, but after one of our dogs jumped on my lap and knocked my computer over that charger got damaged and so did the charging port in the laptop. After replacing the charging port I ordered an original Dell charger and it has been smooth sailing ever since.

I don't know how well this AC Adapter would have worked. Even though I made sure it was recommended for my Dell laptop before ordering, when I plugged it in, I got a pop up box saying it was wrong and my laptop needed a 65 W AC Adapter

Works, but poor design
The adapter works fine, but there are two design problems. The first problem is that the end connector should be a 90 degree connection. If the laptop falls, the straight connection will bend or break. The second design deficiency is that the wire from the power adapter to the laptop should be removable, and replicable without having to purchase the power adapter and 110 volt cord. I've had to replace the entire adapter twice when all that I've needed in both cases was the connector that runs from the adapter to the laptop. I don't think that I'll purchase another Dell laptop unless they redesign the power cord.

Very reliable power supply, light weight and small enough to plug in and tuck behind my night stand for bed time computer time. I always and a spare in hand and the only time I ever needed it was not the power supplies fault, but a “hot” lesson for my puppy not to chew on cords. It bit through both cords, but only got a little surprise when it bit through the AC cord.

The new adapter cord only worked for a few weeks. After a few weeks, I sent the (totally power drained laptop and new adapter cord back to Dell for repair and it was the new adapter cord (and some cables) needed to be replaced! The new adapter cord, I'm happy to say, has been working like a charm.

Weak power connection
I had to purchase a replacement power cord for my new laptop after a few months' use as the plug is vulnerable to bending and breaking fairly easily if the laptop is not picked up and set down very squarely on a surface. Power cords on other laptops I have owned are reinforced in the area of the plug that goes into the computer. It was also disappointing that I could not purchase a replacement cord over the counter and had several days' delay in getting one shipped from Dell.

NEW CHARGING CORD
Battery was low and the charging cord that came with the computer was in worse shape. The cord was frayed where it connected to the solid rubber plug in. I ordered a new one from Dell and it came two days later.

Inspiron does not recognize charger
The dell laptop refuses to recognize its own charger, will not charge it even though the battery is fine. It will let you use the software but then just shuts off. This charger is so little, its lucky it can stay in the computer. Very poor caring and thought put in to these 'top of the line' laptops. Id say you all are to concerned with monopolizing your chargers so much that now the computer which has plenty of years will not even work. The sensor must be broken within the 2017 inspiron laptop, its a completely unnecessary feature to prevent the use of simple universal chargers. You can do better dell!

What you see is NOT what you get
I ordered this as a second power adapter for travel. Unfortunately, Dell does not offer a slim style that plugs directly into the wall for the Inspiron 7348 so I opted for this item because it appeared to be a smaller unit than the OEM part. But what they sent was the same old brick-style that ships with the computer with a huge 3-prong cord...just what I don't want to lug around.

Got this before Christmas as gift for spare in laptop backpack so I wouldn't have to hassle unplugging the one on my desk. It is identical to then one that came with my Inspiron 15 7000 and works great on charging it. I read lots of reviews on 3rd party chargers that did
not work with Dell's so had wife get this one. I also read reviews on this not working with some Dell laptops so I did online chat with Dell rep to verify it would work. Good advice if you are not sure when ordering accessories.

Do not buy this power supply if you are running a Inspiron 14 7000 2-in-1 laptop (or similar. You will get a warning message when you turn on the computer saying that this 45 watt is not enough power to run the computer and some features will be disabled.

Robot vacuum ate the original charger (damaged cord would power laptop, but would not charge battery) wanted OEM charger for safety / reliability / secure fit. This cord was not the "slim" version that came with XPS laptop, but was less expensive and still does the job. I did end up exchanging for the "slim" version for backpack storage convenience, however I was satisfied with this regardless

While the adapter is used with the Dell Latitude 7202 and 7220 Rugged tablets, it does not have the same heat and cold operating ranges to match the rugged tablets, which renders the adapter useless in rugged environments for which the tablets were designed.

I bought a universal charger to replace the original one that stopped working. The replacement didn’t charge properly, so I bought Dell charger. Turns out, it was no better. The pin seems to be too small for the port. Sometimes I have to fiddle with it for a long time before it starts charging. Very disappointing and frustrating.

My last review was deleted by Dell.
This charger IS NOT THE CORRECT CHARGER for the laptop. I went onto Dell's website and looked up my laptop model number and it gave me the chargers and other hardware that goes with my laptop and this was the only charger listed. However when I received the charger (after spending over $50 in shipping and handling) I plugged it into my laptop and it said that it required a 65 watt charger, not the 45 watt that this one is, so it charges much slower. Dell sold me the incorrect charger for my laptop. I recommend that everyone does their research first.

I purchased a replacement power cord for my aging 2-in-1 laptop. This is the second such replacement I've bought. The first didn't actually fit (product description said it would) and immediately frayed where the cord connected to the little black box.
Already, this cord from Dell is better. It's higher grade cord. The plastic cover is thicker, I think. It actually fits!
My package arrived quickly and payment didn't alert my bank like it was paying off a displaced African prince.

Dell Inspiron Power Cord
I should not have to buy this from Dell. Any power cord with the correct voltage should work. You force us to buy an expensive power cord from you because you build your computers to refuse to charge your batteries from any other power cord, making my laptop a desktop. My laptop is great. Your marketing strategies leave a lot to be desired. I will investigate other manufactures before I buy another laptop from you.

Wrong wattage even though Dell said it would work
My laptop's original charger started to "fray" where you connect into the laptop, so I went online here to Dell to purchase a new one. I put in my laptop model, found a charger that was supposed to fit and had it shipped. Unfortunately, the brick part is not strong enough for my laptop, even though I put in my EXACT model laptop. I pretty much took the bottom part of my old charger (the brick part and replaced it with the new piece that plugs into the laptop itself as that was what was "fraying." All in all, I'm NOT happy with that situation and my next laptop will NOT be a DELL.

These power cords are expensive (for a good one) but seem to last only a few months until the small plug that goes into the laptop wears/loosens and the electrical connection becomes intermittant.

Original Parts Make Me Happy
Interestingly the adapter that came with the laptop at purchase was deficient and I would occasionally receive error messages to the effect that it wasn't original. That was off-putting. I am so happy that I have an original part and I have had zero error messages with regards to the parts charging capabilities and performance.

My previous charger stopped working and I thought it might be the connection to the computer. On my first attempt at charging with the new charger, the connection was loose and the charger cord fell out of the computer. I now have to carefully position the laptop so that the cord is completely supported so that it won't fall out. I am not pleased with having to so this with a new charger

Disposable, overpriced accessory
I have bought a number of Dell laptops through the years, a big reason was that I had numerous Dell power adapters so it was convenient to have an adapter at home and an adapter at my workplace.
Unfortunately these adapters are low quality and stop working over time. My laptop will not charge with a few of them now, so I had to purchase this overpriced accessory to keep my laptop going.
I will be buying a USB-C laptop in the future so I'm not tied to Dell's expensive proprietary chargers anymore.

I bought it because my fairly new Dell laptop (less than 2 years old) stopped charging. The new cord didn't charge the laptop either, and after doing some research, I found that apparently, my laptop had a planned obsolescence and just plain no longer charges. Obviously, it will prevent me from ever purchasing a Dell product again.

Once again, I have had to order a new power adapter for a pc less than two years old. A 65 watt adapter came with my pc and I was surprised when I received a 45 watt adapter as a replacement. Particularly when I asked the representative if he was sure this was the proper adapter for my computer. I'm using it but not completely happy I received the product I ordered.

Very pleased
I searched locally for a universal adapter, and couldn't find one compatible with my laptop. Did not know it would be so easy to find on the Dell website. The price including shipping was better than the box store brand. Definately will order through Dell again!

REPLACEMENT CHARGER FOR A DELL LAPTOP
My computer charger was not lasting a full charge on my Dell laptop it would charge just enough to use the computer for about 45 -1 hour. Went on line on Dell website and found a replacement that works great with my laptop.

Poor design breaks far too easily.
The biggest weakness of Dell laptops is their apparent inability to design a charger for a *portable* computer that actually holds up to portable use. The charging cord is almost inevitably placed under strain unless the laptop is left stationary, and there's no way to secure the cord so that strain is not placed on the charging port or charging cord. As a result a cord lasts only a few months. To make bad matters far worse, Dell has also designed the cord with a proprietary extra pin which is super delicate and the first thing to break, which will then not allow the laptop to actually charge the battery AND slows the speed to a fraction of its normal speed while plugged in. The intention is to require the use of Dell chargers rather than third party chargers, but again, I have had this problem repeatedly while using Dell chargers -- because the charger is poorly designed and does not hold up to mobile use.

Dell moved our ship date 3 or 4 times for a total of about 3 weeks. So if you are ordering this because you want a spare to have on the shelf for a rainy day , go ahead and order from here but if you need it because the one you have broke/no longer works you should look somewhere else.

Hate it! Doesn't stay plugged into computer, have to tape it to stay in! Computer is always telling me my system cannot connect to my battery! It will let me sing on but does not keep my computer fully charged and if I happen to move the computer the slightly, the computer shuts down & I have to re-start!!

My computer won't recognize this charger and says it isn't a Dell.
I bought both this and a new battery when my dell computer stopped charging. Unfortunately it didn't solve the problem. My computer still won't charge as it says that this charger isn't a dell charger. when I plug it in a pop up claims this charger isn't a recognized brand and may not charge my laptop properly. For a two year old laptop I'm extremely disappointed to be having these issues

This adapter worked. It charged your computer, but every time the computer started it gave us a message saying that we needed the 65 watt adapter. So we returned this one and got the 65 watt one instead.

Only 45w AC Adapter on Dell site worked as replacement
After having my laptop 2.5 years, I couldn't get the battery to charge with the adapter that came with the laptop. It said, "plugged in, not charging". Then on boot-up I was getting messages that the AC Adapter could not be recognized. After trying every step on the Dell support site, including updating my BIOS, I broke down and ordered this adapter as a replacement. This was the only 45w adapter on the Dell website, so when the model number didn't match anything I saw on the one that came with the laptop, I was nervous. I have a Inspiron 5555, and the AC adapter is model DA45NM140. I ordered this one, which is model LA45NM140. It arrived in two days. I just plugged it in, and so far, so good. The laptop appears to be charging normally. It would be nice if the Manufacture Part number or the Dell Part number matched any of the numbers on the adapter.

Doesn't fit
Doesn't fit. Can't figure out which is the right oe for my computer. It's old & slow so I just threw it away. I was trying to revive it so I could give it to Goodwill so someone who couldn't normally afford one could have it. The reason I didn't pass it along without a power supply was because I didn't know what all was on it & I didn't want to risk giving away any of our personal info.

It has one job and It does the job. Kind of a high price for just a cable, but it's hard to find the right kind of plug for Dell laptops in other stores. I tried a generic one with 6 interchangeable adapter plugs and none of them fit my Dell laptop. Had to return it and get a cable here.

This charger is basically useless because it isn't strong enough to charge the computer while you're using it, only if you're not using it. I don't even understand why this prodcut would be available and have already gotten rid of it.
