I was terrified to upgrade the RAM in my MacBook Pro and put it off for months, even though its performance was terrible. Finally I hit my breaking point, and Crucial's RAM was the right price. When upgrading to x64-based OS, more memory will be used. Thus, more should be installed. My computer running OSX 10.7.5 uses better than 2.6GB with no apps running; with 8GB, there is adequate memory for multiple applications to run simultaneously. Install guide was helpful (2.53 GHz mac mini, late 2009.)

Just what my computer needed
I downloaded the new Yosemite Mac software in order to have a new enough version to use the turbo tax.. And then my computer barely worked it was so slow couldn't do photos or think at all. Internet use was a joke I used my phone for faster results. I was recommended to get more ram and came here for the upgrade. Installed myself and it was as if I had a brand new computer lightning fast . I could not have been happier, now my computer can live a fee more years.

The two sodium I swapped out were 1gb each . 2gb of ram are not enough to run a Macbook Pro with Apples newest Operating System. The 8gb that I installed made a huge performance difference for less that 1/2 of what the Local Apple Store wanted

Can bring old mac minis up to snuff
My early 2009 MacMini had too small a disk and I thought I will upgrade the RAM at the same time. I looked online to see what worked on the specific MacMini I had and Crucial's website pointed me to this chip. Installation was easy. Now I have twice the RAM. It is not the fastest chip on the block but this machine is my secondary machine for a file server and some Adobe Lightroom work; this RAM is adequate for that.

Easy to change, no notable difference
I went from 4 GB to 8 GB total RAM. Did not notice a difference. Now that it is installed I would like to see if by accident the cards were of the same capacity or not. The package does not specify (it is a "one package for all") so I'd have to open the computer back up.

Successful addition of memory on iMac mini 2009
I bought a used iMac mini 2009 with only 4 on it, and need to increase to the unit max to 8. Using crucial site to get the proper cards, it arrived very quickly. Using internet videos available on how to open the iMac mini, the memory was installed. Difficulty arose only in pushing the cards into the slot, which needed some force to click in place.

I needed more RAM for my 2009 iMac and this product came highly recommended. The purchase was and the shipping was quick. The only thing I would have wanted were instructions on how to remove old and install new. I have a degree in IT but my love is altering and touching up photos, as well as creating worksheets in Excel. I had the dreaded spinning beachball on my iMac but this product enhanced it enough to where my computer doesn't freeze up with just the spinning beachball and make me force quit or cold reboot my system.

easy install and huge performance increase
After a brief search for a screwdriver that fit the cover plate, I quickly installed the new memory into my wife's iMac. It made a noticeable difference. Normally, the iMac (with its original 8GB DRAM) runs Firefox, Thunderbird, and OpenOffice, and would bog down on certain web pages or if anything else (iTunes, iMovie) was opened. The main symptom was excess paging -- you could hear the disk seeking constantly. After installing two 4GB DIMMs and restarting, that problem was gone. It's still possible to overload the now-16GB machine, but it's much harder to accomplish that. Even non-techies will notice the difference in speed. Highly recommended.

I simply wish that for this particular MacBook Pro I could update to 16. But the 8 mgs made a lot of difference, particularly since upgrading to Yosemite and the comments that I've heard that it slows down your computer. Going to 8 mgs keeps all programs and the operating system moving very fast.

Great product, but packaging too tight
Installed 2 4Gb RAM modules into my 2009 MacBook Pro, replacing its original 2 2Gb modules, following an online tutorial of how to make the fix. Installed a 1Tb SSD at the same time (replacing a slow, aging and full 320Gb HDD). The performance increase was dramatic. As a landscape designer, I often create large complex 3d models in apps like SketchUp. Adding the memory and SSD allows me to quickly rotate and zoom fully rendered models with shadows and atmospheric fog, make fast adjustments, and has improved my workflow and production. The price was right and the installation was easy (except for temoving the modules from the very tight plastic packaging).

Made my photoshop work on iMac tolerable
My 2009 imac was getting slower and slower when opening large photo library with 4G or memroy that came with my iMac. After upgrading it to 16GB, there is a drastic impovement when opening my photo library. I no longer have to stare at the pinwheel forever. ps. when couple this memroy upgrade with ssd boot drove upgrade, your old mac will come alive.

Crucial Is the BEST!
I needed to upgrade the ram in my iMac because after installing Yosemite my computer's performance was drastically decreased. I wasn't sure what to get so I sent a copy of my system info to them and they emailed me back with a link to what I needed. Fast, easy and reliable.

I had updated my OS system after not having done so in about 5 years and the hardware couldn't keep up. There were a lot of system crashes and things not opening and on and on. I was recommended to order this specific thing (still unclear as to what it is, really doesn't matter, ultimately) from this specific site and once it was installed, everything worked just fine again!

Great Memory for a Mac Mini
Mac OS-X 10.8 and higher use 2gb of Memory so the operating system can be fast and not rely on the hard drive as much. Using this Memory, my MacMini is much faster with 8gb than the factory 2gb.

My Mac service man suggested I increase the RAM on my MacBook Pro 17" laptop before upgrading the OSX. Crucial brand was what he recommended because he found this brand to work reliably for macs, whereas many others who claim to, do not. The advisor tool and system scanner on this site allowed me to get exactly what I needed. I had no experience with installing RAM, or any other hardware in a computer, however, with the instructional videos on this site (and YouTube) I felt confident I could install it on my own, and I did. I'm a graphic designer and use Adobe CS products, and the new RAM (&OSX) are working well for me.

This stuff is great, it does exactly what it needs to do. The only thing is that macs are generally hard to open, just the way Apple wants them to be. Make sure you have the right screwdriver(s).

I use my computer every day both for work and personal. I have an older macbook (late 2008) so I was worried about updating to mavericks system because my computer was starting to lag a bit. When I updated the RAM it made my computer run faster and I'm now running my computer on Yosemite with no problems!

I could not find any install instruction on the Crucial website for my Mac Mini, but found a youtube video on how to install. A bit of a challenge to disassemble the mini and install the memory. But once together, the system ran great and the system hang-ups went away and thing ran faster.

Installation into my Mac Mini was a little more difficult than the instructions let on. Mainly because the RAM cards sit at an odd angle in the Mini and must be placed just right and a bit of force used to get them exactly right. I had to search for a couple of YouTube videos to watch someone else do the install. It took me a few tries and I didn't think it was going to work at first but only because I was not getting the cards fitted into the slots. Works great now and Mini is running much faster!

Crucial DDR3 4GB Memory Upgrade
Doubled the RAM on my 2010 Macbook Pro. The Crucial site told me exactly what to purchase and gave excellent install instructions. The process was very easy with no problems from the first start-up. The benefit for this home/personal computer is faster loading speed. I coupled this purchase with a new Solid State hard drive - a little more complicated to install because of the pre-install preparation - but not bad at all. The combination gave me much faster loading and performance speeds, confidence that I've reduced the potential for crashes, and overall new-computer function for a fraction of the cost of a new one.

I used your scanner to find out how much RAM I could upgrade to. Not only did it say 8 GIGs was my max, which was wrong. Only 4 G max. It also sent me DDR3 when I need DDR2. So, I couldn't use the RAM sticks. I had to buy different sticks. I did, but not happy about that. The Kingston website steered me in the right direction. I updated my 4GB 2009 27" Late iMac to 12GB by adding in 2x4GB to the remaining two slots. Definitely worth the purchase for when I am running music applications like Audirvana Plus, which extracts the audio files and puts it into RAM for better playback. Memory pressure is now always green and low. The one thing that would make the experience even better would be to upgrade the hard drive to solid state. I still get the loading "rainbow" from time, although it happens far less. Also, I think it might be the limitations of the core 2 duo processor trying to run Yosemite. Overall, definitely would recommend.

Made the mistake of upgrading Mac OS a few times which actually slowed down the computer significantly (running Mavericks on 4GB). Was painful to multitask and have multiple Chrome tabs open as well as email and Word and Excel. After I upgraded to 8GB, things just became tolerable. Now we can switch between apps with no delays. It's relaxing to use this computer again. Definitely worth the effort.

Because your statement about the MHz RAM was slightly different from what my computer's statement was (i.e., 1067 vs 1066), I was concerned about whether I was buying the correct product. However, your support person responded very quickly to my inquiry, and explained that the actual number was 1066.67. Consequently, the discrepancy was based simply whether one rounded up or rounded down. That made perfect sense, it eased my mind, and the memory works perfectly. I am now in a position to upgrade my Operating System.

This machine was mostly used for low power applications but I did notice an improvement in performance. I bought this to hopefully increase the speed of my old 2009 MacBook Pro laptop. After "upgrading" to the Yosemite OS, the computer took forever to boot up. I thought I could fix this by doubling the RAM to 8 GB. It didn't, not at all. Could be that the older hardware just isn't a match for the newer OS. I didn't notice any change in performance either, which I thought was strange but I now have 8 GB of RAM...

I'd say that my MacBook Pro is getting a little long in the bluetooth. Just kidding, it doesn't even have bluetooth, that's how old it its. Anyway, it's old. It's slow. It's painful to use because it bogs down so much. That is until I bought this RAM and doubled what was previously in it. It still is a six year old computer, but now I don't have wait 20 seconds for my computer to react to my clicks. Beach balls are rare now. I'd say it brought this old computer up to a respectable speed. I can tolerate using it again.

Great Memory Modules for my 2009 MacBook Pro
I bought this memory for my late 2009 MacBook Pro 15' model, installation was super easy. Startup time didn't make much difference because that depends more on internal hard drive or solid state drive but I measured performance by opening Final Cut Pro before and after the installation of memory ( 4gb vs 8gb) and it was almost 80% faster. I didn't expect much beyond this, so I am vey happy with my purchase.

Easy to install (just check out the official instructions from Apple by going to Apple Menu -> about this Mac -> Memory -> memory upgrade instructions) . Not a dramatic difference in performance (you're better off upgrading your hard drive to solid state first for the best perforce bump) but more memory helps for intensive apps. Recommended for a good way to keep your Mac current.

Osx reckonizes the cards. My Memory is maxed out now for exporting videos. This chip along with the mx 300 ssd literally makes native apple apps export 100 times faster. So fast i though my app crashed ! No going to sleep with crucial hardware. Super fast read and write times. Just so you know, I used to take small naps in between exports. Now i don't get that option. Thanks Crucial !

I was trying to get an older Mac Mini up to par for use in my small home office. My son had used it to do some gaming as well. I added the memory and an SSD drive after an upgrade to El Capitan. What a difference! The mini runs like new. Fast and responsive. I did the scan with the Crucial memory tool and ordered directly. The price was also the cheapest I could locate. Love Crucial Memory
Upgraded my MacBookPro 2009 to Yosemite and created a dog. I had 4 gigs which was twice the minimum required but my heavy duty programs like Dreamweaver and Fireworks really dragged. I maxed out my memory at 8 gigs and what a difference. The tool for selecting the memory and the instructions made this upgrade easy as can be (pies are not that easy actually).

Doubling the memory on a tired iMac helped invigorate it. It's still not fast, but doesn't feel quite so ancient. Well worth the hundred bucks!

quickly and easily solved my beachball problem on 2 macs
I have two late '08 Macs that are in excellent condition but were suffering from the endless spinning pinwheels of death. I upgraded both from 2gb to 8 gb RAM (from 1gb in each bay to 4 gb in each bay). Install was very easy and seamless - instantly recognized by both the macbook and macbook pro. This single step solved 85% of the problem on both machines - a huge performance increase. I followed up with a fresh OS install in both machines (also simple and problem free) and they now both run like nearly new.

My husband works in IT so he was able to install the piece, but I'm pretty positive that without him there's no way I would have been confident enough to unscrew and dismantle my Macbook myself. I don't think I could have done it without an extensive knowledge of computers. That being said, before the piece I was already looking into buying a new computer. Mine was all but unusable. After my husband installed the piece it began to run like new, or better.

Works great on my old late 2009 Mac Mini
I upgraded my old late 2009 Mac Mini with 2 of these memory chips for a total of 8Gb RAM (even though Apple claims a max of 4Gb RAM for this model)... plus a Crucial 1Tb SSD drive. This gave my Mac new lymph and hope to run it for a few more years.

Although my iMac is five years old I was able to get some more life out of her with 16GB from the 4GB that were factory installed. I use Adobe CC software and it has allowed me to use the iMac much more since I installed the new memory. Startup is slow or slower than my MacBookPro, but after that there is not much difference. I just wonder....why didn't Apple tell me about installing new memory chips. Hum..

Macbook Mid 2010 CAN Be Upgraded To 8GB
The Macbook literature for the mid-2010 white model states that it can only be upgraded to a 4GB total processing speed. Yet I read on a post that 8GB was possible. I first installed 4GB and that improved the speed and performance about the original 2GB I had. Recently I put in the 8GB and there is a very definite improvement from the 4GB - especially as this Macbook had been slowing down first with Mavericks and then with Yosemite. Definitely recommended for anyone with a mid-2010 Macbook wanting to get the most with a Yosemite OS.

Just to be fair, I can't see any increase in the speed of my Mid-09 MacBook Pro that slowed down when I installed Mt. Lion. I know that doubling one's RAM speeds things up; I'm just not seeing it on mine. I obviously have other needs to address.

RAM makes old iMac better
RAM was easy to install, though I did run into an error where the machine was beeping instead of starting the OS. I found an apple support article about it. It's no fault of crucial, but apparently the computer is a bit fussy about which RAM modules go in which slots. I moved them around and then it worked fine and the machine, a 3.06 Ghz C2D iMac had it's memory tripled!

I had trouble installing this because I originally pushed it into hard and I didn't realize that you just need to click it in gently so I installed it and then I had trouble getting it back out because I was afraid of breaking it and then I had to reinstall it but it all worked out in the end and it definitely increased the performance speed on my five-year-old Mac book Pro.

While I doubt there is any stampede for RAM of this generation, it's grea to know it's still readily available. Most of us keep our personal Mac's in service well beyond five years, and, to have any hope of keeping up with newer software, most of us will need an upgrade at some point, maxing out our machines to keep up...I know that's a few assumptions, but I suspect they apply to a number of Mac users.

I was unsure I could update an early Mac Mini to 8 GB's. Apple said the max would be 4 GB. Crucial support assured me that 8 GB's was possible and if it didn't work returning the product would not be a problem. They also included a link to a video that outlined step by step instructions to swap out the boards myself. Very smooth transaction.

Replaced original 4GB (2-2GB) with 16GB (4-4GB)on late 2009 IMAC with 3.06 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo. Used the automated system to detect an upgrade which came back negative then deferred to the dropdown menu which identified the CT3309051(8GB total)and a second part number that was for 4GB total. Was still not sure because of the automated system results so read the reviews and found others with the same system who installed CT3309051. Installed two CT3309051 kits.

I use my computer for general uses such as web browsing, email, video chatting via Skype, FaceTime etc. I've had my computer since late 2009. When I updated to Yosimite OS earlier this year my MacBook slowed down a lot. I've used Crucial before to update previous MacBook so I purchased a package recommended by Crucial. Went from 2GB RAM to 8GB. Installed it using instructions provided (I'm not a computer repairman). Replacement took only 7 minutes (case screws were the only time consuming part). MacBook works super fast now. No issues at all.

Solid Performance Improvement
Own at mid-2010 Powerbook and this has vastly improved the speed and reliability of Adobe design software. It feels like a new computer, my only regret is waiting so long to upgrade memory from the stock 4GB.

Caused my computer to lock up and crash
I've never had a problem with Crucial memory, but the RAM I got this time caused my iMac 27-inch (Late 2009) to behave unreliably. It locked up and crashed the first time I booted up. Then my computer couldn't get past the apple logo screen when I tried to reboot. I spent quite a bit of time troubleshooting the issue - even trying to reboot from a backup drive. Finally, when I switched back to the old RAM, the computer worked fine. I must have gotten a bad batch. Side note: During my research troubleshooting the problem, I found out that this particular iMac (27-inch, Late 2009) can be upgraded to 32 GB of RAM (though Crucial can only recommend 16 GB per Apple specs). Do some research if you really want to trick out this computer.

Easy fix for slow Mac Mini
Upgrade my 2010 Mac Mini from 2 gb RAM to 8 gb Ram which is max RAM amount Apple designed in for this unit. My Mac runs much faster again. It was using 2 - 4 gig of virtual memory per the Activity monitor. Really slowed down the machine when on virtual memory. Now the unit is running smooth and fast.

My wife's iMac was running very slow it only had the factory memory installed. I wanted to install more memory but wasn't sure what I needed. The search function on the website showed exactly what I needed and how much the computer could use. I bought the most memory I could use, installed it in about 15 minutes. Lit up the computer the memory was recognized on startup without any trouble. The computer is incredibly fast my wife was delighted. I put in 16GB replacing the factory 4GB.

Also found that doing a SMC Reset and PRAM reset improved performance, plus I used disk utility to do a disk repair session. Now my computer is back up to speed again. Except I wish they made bigger SSD to replace my 2TB drive.

For MacBook Pro purchased a competing brand from the same store where MB Pro purchased. Per the store's recommendation and the brand's specs/advertising it should have worked; however it did not recognize both sticks of memory at the same time. Found on Apple website where this is a common problem for that brand. Purchased Crucial memory and absolutely no issues. Works great! My fault for not researching first.

Great chips for late 2009 MacBook Pro
Purchased these chips to increase to 8GB of RAM on late 2009 MacBook Pro with stock 4GB after decreased performance over time. Chips work (which is least good start after buying other brand equivalent chips and they stopped machine from coming out of boot block) and have beefed up Virtual Memory to make this aging machine semi usable again. Highly recommend these chips for this make/model of machine. Easy to install. Combining these with a crucial SSD would probably take an aging 2009 MBP back to being highly usable even 6 years on.

I went from 4 GB to 8 on my MacBook Pro. I was primarily looking for increased speed in loading music software. I think I notice a difference, but it's not "night and day" different. From what I've seen, it sounds like the next leap (which yields more obvious results - so I've been told) is to move to a SSHD. Hopefully, between the two changes, I'll see a marked improvement.

The speed increase wasn't as much as I hoped but then I wasn't in bad shape to begin with. No matter what the little money it took to max out my RAM was definitely worth the risk. At the very least I know whatever speed issues I may still have this isn't the cause. Only a new system will REALLY bring me up to speed. I bought some time until then.

As a neophyte when it comes to rummaging in the guts of my MacBook Pro, some installation guidelines might've been helpful - but they're really not necessary. It's obvious where the memory cards go and how they go there. Definitely faster, particularly in support of OS X El Capitan. The toughest part is removing the screws from the back plate.

I have an aging 2010 iMac that was starting to get sluggish. I upgraded from the factory installed 4GB of RAM to 16GB of Crucial RAM, and it's like I have a brand new computer again. I can watch a movie on one screen and work on the other, and the iMac offers absolutely no fuss, which is wonderful. I think I can get another 3-4 years out of this machine now before I'll have to replace it. Long story short, the price I paid for the 16GB of RAM was worth every penny. It was easy to install, and it dramatically improved the performance of my computer.

I upgraded a 7 year old Mac Mini that's running the latest version of OSX from 2G to 8G and the extra RAM provided a HUGE increase in speed. Due to the age of the computer I didn't know if I could find compatible DIMMs on the market, but I snapped these puppies in and it was off to the races! No more watching the OSX "spinwheel of death" waiting for the CPU to find memory to use.

Added RAM to my macbook pro mid 2009 in a flash! Definitely recommend viewing a u-tube or a variety of online directions. This will give you confidence to push and pull a little on the removal and the install. If I can do it, most anyone can. I have never attempted to do this before. Once installed, the computer has run faster. Very happy with the product and purchase. The memory arrived on schedule. It cam win a nice padded envelope which proved to be important since it was let out on deliver on a rainy day.

After updating to El Capitan from Snow Leopard, my mid-2009 13-inch MacBook Pro was running very slow to the point it was unusable. A quick switch out of 2GB of memory to 8GB addressed the problem right away. My MacBook Pro is usable once more.

Running Slow
I needed to upgrade my memory, they went in fine. My Mac run's really slow doing common actions. I've done all the basic trouble shooting: pulled and reset memory - that stopped the 'blanking' issues; ran Utilities, called support, etc. Last option is send to Apple...problem because it's a needed computer at the office. Unresolved.

Made my older Mac Mini usable again
I thought I was going to have to buy a new computer. My 2010 Mac Mini would simply hang and I'd have to reboot. A friend suggested more memory, and I thought it would be worth the approx $50 to try. It made a world of difference and hopefully I won't have to buy a new computer for a good while.

The computer shows that it's installed, but it actually runs SLOWER! I'm at total loss; planning to call Apple to see if they can diagnose the problem.

My 6 year old IMac kept freezing up when I used multiple applications. I run Yosemite IOS and Windows 8.1 Pro ( via Parallels) and I believe these new O/S were a drag on the RAM. My problems disappeared shortly after I doubled my memory with Crucial RAM. Very easy to install and instantly compatible. Thank you!

The biggest difference that I saw once I installed this product was the infrequency of lag time. I can't tell you how much time I have lost sitting in front of my computer watching that little rainbow colored circle rotate. Not only was it very self explanatory to install, I rarely see that circle. Very satisfied with the upgrade.

After upgrading my wife's computer, I decided to upgrade my slightly older Macbook Pro after an OS upgrade. The initial memory caused my system to freeze with mosaic images. I tested the memory using system utilities and it checked out OK. Upon calling the Crucial tech support line, I received excellent support. They offered to pay the return shipping, send a new memory upgrade (with a slightly different version #), and shipped the new memory with 2 day shipping. The new memory works Very Well. I am a very satisfied customer and a customer for life.

IMac is 6 years old and overworked the 2 gigs were so overworked that I was using over 3 gigs or hard drive to operate. SLOW . Kicked up to 8 gigs now back to old self. I am not a Geek and knew nothing on how-to install ne RAM or even where it neede to be installed. The directions were excellent had it completed an up and running in about 15 min.

My 2009 iMac, my primary home computer was so slow that I preferred editing photos on my iPhone. True story. Despite the beautiful 27" screen my iMac was essentially furniture because I refused to turn it on. Even simple tasks like checking email or authoring a Word document were painful events punctuated by the "spinning beach ball of death." I was ready to pull the trigger on buying a Mac Mini and converting the iMac to a monitor, when I was convinced by a member of the Genius Bar staff to boost my memory. He mentioned having the same Mac I do and that by adding memory from Crucial he is running apps like Final Cut happily. I maxed out my machine, going from 4GB of memory to 16. It took longer to unplug and move my Mac to the workbench than it did to complete the install of the 4 stick of RAM. In all, the process - from shutdown to reboot - took less than 20 minutes, including watching the helpful video from Crucial.
