Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stable, with an easy initial setup and good storage What is our primary use case? We primarily use the Nexus Series, that's the 7000 Series, as a core switch. We have other 10-gauge switches to work as a server switch. What is most valuable? The storage connection is very good. We use the bonding license. It is is extremely stable. We don't have any issues with it whatsoever. The initial setup is pretty easy. What needs improvement? The licensing is very complicated. They should work to simplify it. Every feature you want to use you have to pay for separately as an extra cost. The features should be bundled together. It sometimes causes us to have clashes with dealers. We don't find that there's any difference between the Nexus and Catalyst solutions. It seems that just the marketing is somewhat different, even though they seem to be the same technology. For how long have I used the solution? I've been using this solution since about 2016. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution is quite stable. It's one of the solution's selling points for us. It doesn't have bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. It's good. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The solution is very scalable. All you have to do when you scale is to follow the right best practices and you can scale without any issue. We use it for a bank in Sudan, so there can sometimes be sizeable transactions. How are customer service and technical support? Up until last month, our country was under embargo, and therefore it was often difficult to get the proper assistance if we needed it. We've often had to deal with setbacks in terms of technical support care. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? We're currently also using VMware which is part of our infrastructure. We use vSphere and Horizon. Both VMware and Cisco compete within the virtualization space. VMware claims that Nexus can work as a virtual appliance in its infrastructure. From my perspective, we've had little experience with VMware networking. On the VMware side, I use NSX in my infrastructure. I use it as a load balancer. We are planning to use it as a firewall segmentation. How was the initial setup? We found that the initial setup isn't very complex at all. It's rather straightforward. We only need one person to manage the solution. We technically have two workers, so that we can always have one for redundancy. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The licensing is all over the place and hard to figure out. They don't seem to bundle features. Everything is always an extra cost. What other advice do I have? We're just Cisco customers. We work with the 7000 series. I'd advise users to always know their organization's business needs. If you figure out your business needs, it will help you invest economically. If you don't know your business needs, whether it's Cisco or VMware, they'll try to sell you all types of products - sometimes items you won't use or need. Overall, we're quite happy with Cisco. I'd rate the solution ten out of ten. Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Feature-rich, easy to develop, good support, but it's expensive and needs a better GUI What is our primary use case? The primary use case is for Data Center switches. What is most valuable? I like the supportability because it's Cisco. I like the fact that they are a well-supported product. I am comfortable with the operating system and I like the regularity of them. They are quite straightforward and easy to develop. What needs improvement? I am looking for a GUI that goes alongside them and more SD-WAN built to their core switches. I'm looking at changing our firewall estate, and at the same time, looking at integrating our firewalls with whatever our core switch solution is going to be. I can't necessarily do that with the costings of a Cisco organization, as they're too expensive. For how long have I used the solution? I have been working with Cisco Nexus for two and a half years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? I am happy with the stability. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? It's feature-rich, and they are expandable. We have approximately a thousand users. How are customer service and technical support? Cisco's technical support and their global footprint are one of the reasons I would stay with Cisco, and I can get their hardware from anywhere in the world. How was the initial setup? I wasn't there at the time, but I know who put it in and it was straightforward. It took a couple of weeks to deploy. We have two engineers to maintain this solution. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? I thought that it would be less expensive. I always thought that Cisco charges more because of who they are, above the product itself. Whilst it's the best of the breed, and it's the top right-hand corner at Gartner, I wonder how long that would be attractive. What other advice do I have? To others who are interested in this solution, I would say that if you have the money to spend and you want you to want to branch out to the rest of the world, then you should use this solution. I would rate Cisco Nexus a seven out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the most stable solutions, with good support from Cisco What is most valuable? The most valuable features are extensions and recorded scalability. What needs improvement? Areas for improvement would be the delivery timeline for the actual model, the length of which means we have to sacrifice a range of models because we can't wait six months for delivery. For how long have I used the solution? I've been working with this solution for a few months. What do I think about the stability of the solution? In terms of stability, it's so far so good - we haven't faced any big issues at this point. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? We want to extend out to other regions, which is very easy to achieve if compared to the typical traditional legacy layer 2 switch, layer 3 routing approach. How was the initial setup? The initial setup wasn't simple or user-friendly. We're still in the process of fully deploying - currently, we've been working on it for around three months. What about the implementation team? We used the Cisco team to implement, with whom we've had a good experience. We've also had support from HPE, who are very technically strong and able to answer any questions we have on the spot. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? I don't like the Smart Licensing models that Cisco uses. What other advice do I have? Cisco is one of the most stable solutions, regardless of which model. I would give this solution a rating of eight out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Private Cloud Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from VDC allows a single physical box to be used for dynamic purposes and VPC for more redundancy and flexibility What is most valuable? Cisco Nexus introduced VDC, Virtual Device Context, meaning the person has a single physical box, usually one pair, for dynamic purposes. This pair allows one to create multiple logical switches, for totally different functioning. One could be for production, another for UAT, a third for Dev. Yet, we are talking about a physically single box. It has also introduced VPC, Virtual Port Channel, which allows for more redundancy and flexibility. What needs improvement? Cisco Nexus if focused primarily on the data center. While it has been in the market for nearly ten years, there are still many areas in need of improvement. There may be many bugs which remain unresolved. It is important for Cisco to be aware of the various issues it encounters and come up with new releases. The frequency with which this occurs can vary. It may take months, be done quarterly or, sometimes, after half a year has elapsed. There is still much to be done to increase their stability, something which can depend. The solution is relatively expensive when compared with Cisco Catalyst. For how long have I used the solution? We have been dealing with Cisco Nexus since it first emerged around ten years ago. What do I think about the stability of the solution? While this can depend, there is still much to be done to improve the solution's stability. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The solution is relatively expensive when compared with Cisco Catalyst. Which other solutions did I evaluate? Nexus, which uses NX-OS, runs on a different operating system than CatOS, which means that the latter tends to run on OS - just like a Cisco router - only with the functioning being a bit different. While NX-OS is very different, even when it comes to the command line, most things are the same. However, NX-OS already introduced a different concept, which is more like a carrier level. They have a dedicated command management module. All other modules have comparatively many more functions or power than regular Catalyst switches. Nexus' primary focus is on the data center and supports what are known as top-of-rack or end-of-rack features, including the cost of cabling. So too, the latest one, the Nexus 9K, also supports a software-defined cloud with Cisco ACI, which is what this is referred to when typically deployed inside the company. The solution is relatively expensive when compared with Cisco Catalyst. What other advice do I have? We are talking about a network portion. Catalyst and Nexus switches are all part of the network domain. I rate Cisco Nexus as an eight out of ten, as it is a new platform. Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptionally stable, scalable, and helpful support What is our primary use case? We are using the Cisco Nexus as our core switch for our main backbone. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using Cisco Nexus for approximately two years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution is stable. Nowadays, every five years technology changes. However, you will find customers who are using the same Cisco switch which has a life span of five years or seven years, will still be using them for more than 10 years without raising a single ticket. This is the confidence they have in Cisco. This is my personal customer experience, it makes it difficult for us to generate business. We can do a technology refresh or a product replacement But when there is Cisco, it is tough for any person to replace that solution. Cisco has that X factor in their solutions, and specifically with networking. Nexus is definitely their bread and butter. It is an exceptional solution. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Cisco Nexus is scalable. We have approximately two customers. How are customer service and support? The Technical support of Cisco is really good. It is a core switch, you require three to four hours, same business day support. They give you a good resolution within that time. They are good at troubleshooting. How was the initial setup? The installation is straightforward. If you have someone who is certified to do the implementation of Cisco Nexus they can do it quickly. All other switches, such as distributed switches and access switches connect to the Cisco Nexus switch. If you have done everything correctly including the sizing, there should not be an issue at the time of installation. What about the implementation team? we have one manager and one engineer for the deployment and maintenance of the solution. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The subscription model and price could be better. What other advice do I have? I would recommend this solution to others. I rate Cisco Nexus an eight out of ten. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast and professional support but it is not reliable, and the stability needs improvement What is our primary use case? We use this solution mainly for the data center and or a yacht. They were used as core switches on a three-layer network. They were the core level for a 90-meter yacht. They were connected with a fiber single-mode backbone. What is most valuable? When it comes to data centers, Cisco Nexus is the best. What needs improvement? The flexibility and configuration could be better. It needs to be improved. It is not as reliable as Catalyst. For how long have I used the solution? I have been working with Cisco Nexus for 15 years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? My experience with the stability of Nexus was that there was a failure with the power supply. I had to replace the hardware component related to the power supply. I have had fewer issues with stability when using Catalyst. How are customer service and technical support? Cisco support is always the same. It doesn't matter if you are looking for support for Wi-Fi, or any other product they offer, they will figure out the solution. The support is always the same, they are fast and professional, even if you don't have a valid service contract. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? Using Nexus was a request from the customer and we installed it based on their request. We would have preferred to install Catalyst. They are more flexible and the configuration of the high availability features are better than Nexus. Nexus is the best solution for the data center and not as a solution for a moving environment, such as a yacht, that would have issues related to the power supply. This is why Catalyst would have been better than Nexus. With my experience with Catalyst, I would rate it a nine out of ten. How was the initial setup? The installation was not as easy as it was with Catalyst. The configuration was more difficult. They have a similar CLI, but different components and features. We need a team of four to maintain this solution. The team consists of one manager, two technicians, and one installer. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? We purchased this solution as per the client's request. We completed the installation with their requested license and features. Which other solutions did I evaluate? We did not evaluate other solutions for our client. We didn't spend time researching the best solution for the client. They had a particular method and requested Cisco Nexus specifically. What other advice do I have? My recommendation would be with Cisco Catalyst. I prefer Catalyst over Nexus because of its flexibility and reliability. I only used Nexus one time and don't have a good comparison. I would rate it a seven out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Strong support, scalable, and reliable What is most valuable? The most valuable feature of the Cisco Nexus is agility. For how long have I used the solution? I have used Cisco Nexus within the past 12 months. What do I think about the stability of the solution? Cisco Nexus is a stable solution. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The best-suited environment for the Cisco Nexus is not a small office, it is used mainly for enterprise networks. It provides more throughput and has good capabilities. My customers in the data center are happy with the solution. We have a number of clients using this solution. How are customer service and support? The support from Cisco Nexus is very good. They provide a full level of support. How was the initial setup? If you know the basics of the requirements of the customer the implementation can be done with no issues. If you are preplanned for the implementation the process will not take long, but if you do not have a plan then it could take some more time. If you have a large setup with a lot of configuration with many active ports then it could take a few hours to complete the implementation. What about the implementation team? We do the implementation ourselves. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? If you compare Cisco hardware to any other vendors, such as HPE, they are more expensive. There is a license to use the solution. If my customer's licenses are about to expire I receive notification from Cisco, this is very helpful. Which other solutions did I evaluate? I have evaluated other similar solutions, such as HPE. What other advice do I have? I rate Cisco Nexus a nine out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stable with extremely responsive technical support and an easy deployment process What is most valuable? If you have a large network, it's one of the easiest solutions to deploy and manage. The best part is the single operating system that they have. Regardless of your model, it's the same operating system functioning across the board, which means you don't have to worry about backward compatibilities between your older switches and the new ones that you deploy, which is a big plus when compared to maybe Cisco, HP, or Juniper, where you get into these different operating systems based on the model. Against that, if you look at the competitors, you always have to worry about the operating system that the older units are running on, and the integration between the old and new, and what are the limitations and stuff like that. All those questions you simply don't have to worry about when you talk about Arista. Therefore, the deployment becomes pretty easy. The solution is very stable. Technical support is extremely responsive and helpful. What needs improvement? The solution is quite expensive. One of the negative aspects of it is the pricing. For how long have I used the solution? I've used the solution for a while. I was an employee at Arista for a couple of years. In addition to that, I have almost four customers who have been using Arista. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution is absolutely stable. If you look at the customer base, that itself is a testimony. They have a very, very good customer base, and it's a pretty stable solution. Rarely we have encountered any challenges with Arista. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The solution works well for large-scale organizations. How are customer service and support? The nice thing about technical support from Arista is you don't have to go through multiple levels of check-ups where there is someone who collects your information and stuff and then passes on the baton to someone else. That's not how they work. It's an engineer on the call who would directly help you out, which saves a lot of time and headache. The whole time with the technical support of Arista is significantly lower than others. My experience has been that when you call Arista tech support, your call is answered within a couple of minutes. Compared to the rest, where it could be 15 to 20 minutes at least, it's great. Arista is very quick on the response time when it comes to assistance. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? I also have an understanding of Cisco, HP, and Juniper. How was the initial setup? The initial setup is pretty straightforward and simple. For roughly around 50 switches, you could deploy them in a day with the manpower of maybe two people. Even for probably a network which is moderately sized, a couple of admins would do the job in terms of maintenance. They could deploy and just hold it. If you have a lot of changes to make every now and then they can handle it. That part would completely depend upon the operations that are carried out. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The product is fairly expensive. It's not a cheap option. Clients need to be ready to pay. There's an annual license with Arista. Though the unit of calculation is monthly, the license has to be procured on an annual basis. It's an annual license, and again, it's pricy. What other advice do I have? I would rate the solution at a nine out of ten. The only negative that applies to them is the price. I would recommend Arista for enterprises considering their price point, however, I would not recommend it for the SME/SMB market. Although it's a wonderful product, the price is something that an SME or SMB cannot afford. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stable and scalable but needs to offer more integration capabilties What is our primary use case? The solution is our aggregation switch. We have all our data services, and users (not end-users) services going through our Nexus. It connects our firewalls and it connects other switches and makes our load balances work. Basically, we were given the switch and then we configured it and we will put it in the network and we maintain it. What is most valuable? The solution seems to be quite stable. We have had to upgrade recently as we were on an engineering release of code, and we don't tend to have problems with the Nexus. You can scale the product. Technical support seems to be okay. What needs improvement? The solution could be improved in general in all aspects. When it comes to technical assistance, you cannot speed up things. You can try to escalate, however, there's a process. You have not got them on speed dial. You need to wait. It would be ideal if there was better integration with various other platforms. For how long have I used the solution? I've been using the solution since 2015. It's been six years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The stability of the solution is great. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. the performance is reliable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The solution can scale. The product provides services for thousands of our customers. If we look at Nexus and the media portals, then we've got millions of customers that will use the end service. That all goes through the Nexus F5. How are customer service and technical support? In terms of technical support, we would go through the third party who would contact Cisco. It's fine. It works quite well at the moment. It would be nice if they could be quicker. How was the initial setup? I did not handle any of the initial setup. I can't speak to if it was complex or straightforward. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? I can't speak to the pricing as I am not in procurement. Once it gets delivered, we'll put it in the network and then we'll configure it and then operate it. We are in operations. We don't directly handle licensing. What other advice do I have? We are a customer and an end-user. It's my understanding that we are using version 9, however, I cannot speak to if what we are on is the latest version or not. In our organization, there are hundreds of engineers. There are multiple teams. I work in a team that looks after the data center and we are on-premises, although there is also a cloud team. From an operations perspective, when I look at service availability and the number of failures, I'd say the solution is probably about a seven out of ten. I would recommend the solution to other users. It is tried and tested in our network, and it works well. It could work for other companies. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? On-premises Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A complete solution for networking infrastructure and network detection What is our primary use case? We use the solution for networking infrastructure and network detection. What is most valuable? Arista is a good performer in terms of networking and has been rated as one of the leaders in Gartner. What needs improvement? The solution’s pricing could be better. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using Arista Networks Platform for two years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The product’s stability is excellent. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The solution is scalable. There are about four or five customers in my region. How are customer service and support? Arista has excellent tech support distributed around the world. How was the initial setup? The initial setup is easy and depends from scenario to scenario. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The product is expensive and has a yearly subscription. What other advice do I have? Three people, including admins, are required for the solution’s maintenance. I recommend the solution. Overall, I rate the solution a nine out of ten. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Though it requires only a straightforward setup phase, the interoperability part needs improvement What is our primary use case? The solution is used in my company to ensure that we have access to the switches. What is most valuable? In general, the most valuable features of the product are related to its prices along with the technology that it offers to its users. What needs improvement? The solution should look at offering Power over Ethernet (PoE) for multiple different models in the future, as it is one area where the product currently lacks. The stability of the product is an area where certain improvements are required. The product is scalable. My company does face issues in terms of interoperability when it comes to the product, making it an area that needs to be fixed. There is a scope for improvement in the integration capabilities offered by the product, especially considering its ability to integrate with our company's existing infrastructure. In Arista Networks Platform, there are some issues when it comes to interoperability where it needs to improve. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using Arista Networks Platform for a couple of years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? Stability-wise, I rate the solution an eight out of ten. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The product's scalability is good. The entire organization uses the product since it is deployed in the data center. There are around 100 users of the product. There are currently no significant plans to increase the number of users of the product. How was the initial setup? The product's initial setup phase was straightforward. The solution is deployed on an on-premises model. My company follows the ITIL process to deploy the product. I cannot go through each and every step. The framework during the product's deployment was an ITIL framework. In my company, there are other technologies apart from Arista Networks Platform that are being managed by the same teams. In short, there is no specific team to just manage Arista Networks Platform. What about the implementation team? The product's installation can be managed with the help of our company's in-house team. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? There is a need to make yearly payments towards the licensing charges of the product. I rate the product price a seven on a scale of one to ten where ten is high price and one is low price. Which other solutions did I evaluate? There is a need to make yearly payments towards the licensing charges of the product. I rate the product price a seven on a scale of one to ten where ten is high price and one is low price. What other advice do I have? The solution enhances the data center's scalability as it helped our company build environments where there were a lot of network blocks. I cannot share my experience in the cloud environment where the solution helps in cloud computing deployment. For the on-premises environment within data centers, my company was able to use Arista Networks Platform. Arista's technologies related to switches and CloudVision Portal (CVP) are the most valuable functions of the product that improved my company's network performance. The product's features like ZTP are good and have benefited our IT operations. My organization is not a retail company. In the current organization where I work, we don't get to leverage ZTP at a very large scale or deploy the tool within the data center. In our company, we use ZTP occasionally. I recommend the product to those who plan to use it. The product is good and is evolving, making it worth giving a try. I rate the overall solution a seven out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? On-premises Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Offers high-throughput devices that are easy to adopt and configure What is our primary use case? At my current job we have a requirement to use only Arista switches, which I have been using for about a year now, even though I have more than 15 years of prior experience in Cisco security switches. We are using Arista Networks products in data centers and we typically use VXLAN and BGP EVPN in our customer networks. We also use Cisco's BGP EVPN as well, but we have found that the configuration of Arista products is much easier compared to Cisco products. The Arista products are extremely stable and we hardly ever see any problems, whether with the hardware or the software. Most of the time, we will use Arista's BGP EVPN and VXLAN features, which are very similar to Cisco's features, just simpler and easier to understand especially when throwing together advanced configurations. We use Arista products not only because they are so stable, easy to adopt and configure, but also because they have high throughput ratings (e.g. 40 / 100 / 400 gigabits), making them very scalable. In my country, most companies that need high throughput generally prefer Arista products. All the Arista switches we are using are on-premises and I generally interact with them through the CLI, as I prefer not to use features such as Cisco's CDP. I work solely from my tablet, such that when our customer needs work on configuration, I use my tablet to prepare and code the configuration requirements in order to test them out. As part of my team, we have one member who works on Arista products professionally, while about four of my other colleagues are responsible for the integration of each Arista product that we use. What is most valuable? The most valuable aspect of Arista Networks products is their ease of configuration, especially when compared to Cisco products. When we implement advanced features for data centers such as BGP EVPN and VXLAN, Arista's configuration process is similar to that of Cisco's process, but at the same time it is simply much easier, clearer, and more understandable. It's important to us that Arista devices have only one operating system, whereas in Cisco products, there are several different products and different features and not all of them are compatible with one another. Arista devices can be managed more easily this way, and it gives us peace-of-mind that we can quickly tell which features we have access to. The Arista switches are also extremely stable and are capable of high throughput (up to 400 gigabits) for maximum scalability. What needs improvement? Something that you will often hear about Arista products is that the price is a bit too high and, like with Cisco, we sometimes have problems with our customers because of its pricing. However, price-for-price I would say that Arista may still be better than Cisco, and I would even go so far as to say that Arista products are the number one solution in the world for data center networks. It is commonly accepted that Cisco switches are the perfect product for data center environments, but I believe that Arista switches are even superior. Almost all of our customers that use Arista products are happy to use them, with the only complaint being the price. Thus, if the price of Arista's products were the same as Cisco's product, it's possible that customers would actually prefer Cisco over Arista. When it comes to working with and setting up the Arista Networks Platform, things are not too difficult because the configuration is so similar to Cisco products and almost all of our network engineers have experience with Cisco. However, Arista lacks a comprehensive set of loopback commands as compared to Cisco. With Cisco devices, there are several loopback commands such as "ip bgp" which can be used to easily diagnose problems, but with Arista many of these commands are absent, making it so that troubleshooting and getting certain problems under control is more difficult in comparison with Cisco. It would be very helpful if Arista brought more loopback features to the CLI. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using Arista switches for one year now. What do I think about the stability of the solution? Arista products are extremely stable. We have had no issues with either the software or the hardware. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Arista devices are scalable and come in different models with varying throughput ratings (up to 400 gigabits). Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? Although I have only used Arista switches for one year so far, I have over 15 years of experience with Cisco switches (especially the security type of switches). How was the initial setup? The initial setup is not difficult, mainly because almost all of our network engineers have experience with Cisco, and much of the configuration is very similar. Thus, the administration and control of the networking with Arista is easy for us. One feature that would make the setup easier would be more loopback commands in the CLI, as Cisco currently has much more support than Arista for loopback commands. Loopback commands help us troubleshoot problems in the network, and having better functionality in this area would help. What about the implementation team? As my company is a partner of Arista, we have a department that takes care of the deployment and configuration of these products with various technicians. As for myself, I'm not directly responsible for integration or deployment. Instead, my primary work is in checking configurations and troubleshooting them. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? There are several different platform arrangements for Arista devices and Cisco devices. I cannot say exactly what the prices of each arrangement are. However, I remember that when our customers were offered the Arista Networks Platform, they used a checklist to compare the prices between Arista and Cisco for their requirements, and found that the prices were almost the same. With Cisco, I know that they are generally a bit more expensive than other products such as Hauwei and Aruba. What other advice do I have? First of all, because the price of Arista products are so similar to those of Cisco, we often need to coordinate the opportunity to provide a proof-of-concept, usually with demo devices. Generally, we will first use the demo devices, and only then buy the devices from Arista. Most of the time, Arista products are used in data centers and most of our customers typically need to use BGP EVPN and VXLAN. When working with a customer to decide on either Arista vs. Cisco products, we will first explain how the configuration process works with both of these solutions. At this point, the benefits of using Arista become clear to the customer, since the configuration is much easier. The fact that there is only one operating system that works across the devices (if one device supports a feature, it's likely that most of the other devices will, too) is one more reason I would recommend going for Arista. If the price weren't so high, I would probably rate Arista the highest score, but because of this I would rate Arista Networks a nine out of ten. Rated 5 out of 5 by from A next-generation data centre solution with open standard features How has it helped my organization? Arista Networks Platform is designed for next-generation data centers. They support asymmetric IRB, symmetric IRB, flood and learn types, EVPN types two, five, three, overlay and underlay. When Juniper first came out, they did not support symmetrical IRB. They only supported CRB, central routing and bridging, and asymmetrical IRB. So, to make it work, we had to do IBGP for the overlay, EBGP for the underlay, and then use the IBP as a route reflector so that the spine could be the server and the top-of-rack could be the client. So it reflects the route down for all of the overlay. When you deal with internal activities, it's hard to troubleshoot, which is why we like the Arista Networks Platform. Unfortunately, Juniper doesn't support CRB anymore. What is most valuable? They support open standard features, and they have one feature that is proprietary and is marked VARP. That is the way for any cash routing. You can do that at the top of the rack layers. Juniper doesn't support this, and they don't have a chipset. Juniper claims that they have a feature where they can do symmetrical IRB, but their product hasn't been tested. Arista Networks Platform is widely used for all data centers. What needs improvement? Arista has done a pretty good job, but there's room for improvement. They should have a more stable code. Their code is a lot better than Juniper, but there are a lot of bugs, issues that arise and memory leaks. For how long have I used the solution? We have been using this solution for 12 years and are using the new release. It can be deployed both on-premises and on cloud. For example, if you use their CVP (cloud vision portal), you can deploy it using their orchestration management. You can also deploy it manually, and I prefer doing it that way because you can see all the features being enabled. What do I think about the stability of the solution? It is a stable solution as long as the top of the rack and the spine are at the same code level. For example, if you use the same code level and run 4.21 on the spine, then run 4.21 on all the top racks, and it will be stable. How are customer service and support? Their technical support is very good, and I rate them an eight out of ten. How would you rate customer service and support? Positive Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? I've used Cisco and Juniper. I built a network in Juniper, CRP, leaf and spine design, and the same in Cisco using leaf and spine design. I've also used their ACI, which is very cumbersome and complex. How was the initial setup? The initial setup is pretty straightforward. They have a zero-touch feature where as long as there's a DATP service somewhere, you can grab an IP address, take over the switch and then automatically configure the switches for it. The time for deployment depends on the environment. It could take a couple of hours to deploy 50 switches or even 30 minutes to deploy three or four switches. We completed the deployment in-house. We have ten of thousands of users, and we are always scaling. What was our ROI? We have seen a return on investment, which is worth the price. Unfortunately, the pricing is a little out of touch because most companies do not have the budget. Arista Networks Platform is about 40% more expensive than Cisco and about 70% more than Juniper. Juniper gives you their hardware for free, but they get you on the backend for support, maintenance, and service contracts. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? Arista Networks Platform is the most expensive of all the platforms. Which other solutions did I evaluate? We evaluated LinkedIn, Cumulus, Big Switch, and Mellanox as smaller players. There are only four major players, Brocade, Cisco, Arista and Juniper, but the three most prominent are Cisco, Arista and Juniper. What other advice do I have? I rate this solution a nine out of ten. I would recommend Arista Networks Platform for next-generation data centers because it is very stable. They have stable hardware and code, which is better than Cisco and Juniper. However, it has one operating system for all platforms, which could lead to problems because you're running on one code. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lots of features with good configuration capabilities and connectivity What is our primary use case? In my previous job, I used the solution to make connections, remove connections, to work plans, plan for the future, et cetera. We had a big Cisco router with 9,000 connections and we were connecting and disconnecting. I wasn't the person directing the equipment so deeply, as I wasn't a member of the network team. I was a member of the broadcasting and distribution team. This solution was used largely for making physical connections. What is most valuable? The solution offers a lot of features. We were able to organize our network around them. The configuration capabilities were good. What needs improvement? I do prefer the Cisco interface. Cisco is not too user-friendly, however, in terms of the comments to deploy the configurations, to change or update configurations, Cisco is easy compared to Arista. We did at one point have a software bug. I remember that sometimes they used to make the physical connection and then everything was all right, however, the port, the physical port didn't come up. We needed to set the port down and then up again to work. We also had a problem when using the internet service providers that connected to Arista. When the internet was down and came up again, the suite couldn't recognize and keep the status as unavailable. The solution is a bit pricey. For how long have I used the solution? I am at a new job, however, I have used the solution within the past year. I used it for about five months. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution did have a bug when I dealt with it. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? I have previously worked with Cisco solutions. Not deep, but I have some experience with switches and with routers. I am focusing on broadcasting and broadcasting solutions, broadcasting equipment, and cloud solutions. I have some experience with Azure and Azure deploys using PowerShell, using ScriptRunner, and this kind of stuff. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? I know that Arista is more expensive than the Catalyst or Nexus. I can't speak to the exact pricing. What other advice do I have? I was an Arista customer. I wasn't a part of the integration process and therefore can't speak to those capabilities. I'd rate the solution eight out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? What is most valuable? The most valuable features of the Arista Networks Platform are the EVPN and VXLAN. It has comprehensive features. What needs improvement? The overall price of the Arista Networks Platform is expensive. It should be reduced. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using the Arista Networks Platform for approximately four years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? Arista Networks Platform is stable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The scalability of the Arista Networks Platform is good. How are customer service and support? I was satisfied with the technical support. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? We used Extreme previously. How was the initial setup? The initial setup of the Arista Networks Platform is straightforward. It took use approximately a half-day to complete. What about the implementation team? We did the implementation in-house. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The price of the Arista Networks Platform could be less expensive for the hardware and license. What other advice do I have? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beneficial non-blocking technology, good automation capabilities, but integration could improve What is our primary use case? Arista Networks Platform is used for non-blocking switches. We are using them in the data centers for spine-leaf connectivity. There are servers hooked to these switches. What is most valuable? Arista Networks Platform is comfortable, easy to deploy, and easy to manage, with non-blocking technology. Additionally, it has a useful CloudVision platform and automation capabilities. What needs improvement? Arista Networks Platform should focus on improving the compatibility or integration with Cisco solutions. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using the Arista Networks Platform for approximately two years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? I have found the Arista Networks Platform to be stable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Arista Networks Platform is highly scalable. We have approximately 250,000 users that go through the data center which passes through the Arista Networks Platform. How are customer service and support? The technical support is good from the Arista Networks Platform. However, we are waiting on a response back from them regarding enhancements. We have not received a positive response. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? We were previously using Cisco Nexus switches, Cisco Catalyst switches How was the initial setup? The installation is simple. It takes approximately two hours for each Arista Networks Platform to implement. What about the implementation team? We used an integrator to implement the Arista Networks Platform. We have three to four engineers who work on Arista Networks Platform deployments. We have decided not to expand the Arista Networks Platform because of some of the issues we have had. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? There is an annual license required to use the Arista Networks Platform. What other advice do I have? I rate the Arista Networks Platform a seven out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from A data-driven cloud networking solution that provides low latency How has it helped my organization? In the media industry, if you work for a channel, even a single second of screen loss will lead to a business outage and impact the business. After Arista solutions came into the picture, we deployed it, particularly for multicasting purposes. We were quite happy when I was in the media industry at the time. What is most valuable? I like the spine as a leaf model and low latency. The hardware is robust and meets expected latency in all environments, mainly if you belong to the media or trading industry. For multicast-based solutions, Arista is number one. What needs improvement? They need to enhance their code and their EOS. They need to improve some security features, and there are quite a number of bugs in their system. So, they need to work on that piece. In the next release, we need to have a modular feature. Instead of providing an integrated solution, they should go for something modular. They need to come up with modular highly scalable models. Even at the chassis layer, I want to see some improvement. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using the Arista Networks Platform for about six years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? It could be more stable. There are so many issues and vulnerabilities they need to fix. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Arista Networks Platform is scalable. This design is not for a particular user. This is a backbone that we are using, and the whole business relies on Arista. How are customer service and support? On a scale from one to five, I would give technical support a three. How would you rate customer service and support? Neutral How was the initial setup? The initial setup is straightforward. The architecture, framework, and command line are approximately the same as Cisco. In terms of deployment as a network guy, I didn't face any issues. We need about two to three people per shift to manage this solution. What was our ROI? Because of latency, as per our business needs, it is meeting our expectations. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? Specific tools definitely require a license for the subscription. But we are not using these tools in our environment. In terms of licensing, you need to spend approximately $10,000 per month. What other advice do I have? I would tell potential users that if they are supporting a media or trading kind of business, they should go for Arista because it is a low-latency switch that will meet the expectation of the business. On a scale from one to ten, I would give Arista Networks Platforma nine. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stable and easy to use modular and fixed port network switches What is our primary use case? We use Cisco Nexus for the switches. It's a switch product, and I think we have 350 users on our network. What is most valuable? It's easy to use, and the performance is great. I like the VRF IP route for the network. It's five minutes of work. What needs improvement? The price could be better. For how long have I used the solution? I've been using Cisco Nexus for the last three years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? Cisco Nexus is stable, and the performance is great. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Cisco Nexus is a scalable product. How are customer service and technical support? I have contacted technical support many times, and I am satisfied with my experience. How was the initial setup? The installations were easy. The time to deploy depends on the model and the size of the product you will be using. But it will definitely take hours. We have ten people in our team to implement and maintain this solution. But it depends on the project. Sometimes we will have 15 people working on it. What about the implementation team? We implemented this solution by ourselves. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The problem with Cisco, from what I see, is that their costs are much higher. The costs depend on the features you need, and the license is expensive. What other advice do I have? From a functional and technical point of view, I would recommend Cisco Nexus to potential users. On a scale from one to ten, I would give Cisco Nexus a nine. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Performs well, good port flexibility, and scales out easily What is our primary use case? I am an engineer and work primarily with our data center network and data center security. The Nexus switch is a data center switch and I have a lot of recent experience with it. My company is a solution provider and this is one of the products that we sell to our clients. What is most valuable? The 9000 series works really well in the spine-and-leaf architecture and gives you capabilities up to 400 gig. The most valuable feature is performance. Not many customers are using the 400 gig speed yet, but you do have flexibility as if you're going to run the ports at 10 gig, 40 gig, or 100 gig. That port flexibility is really important. What needs improvement? There is an ongoing problem with the limitation of the TCAM table, which is that it doesn't have enough memory to allow you to be really granular with your policy. Without enough memory, it requires manual manipulation if you exceed or get near to the TCAM limits. They have improved it, but in the early days, it took down some companies. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using Cisco products for many years and have experience with the Nexus line since it was first released. What do I think about the stability of the solution? These switches are very stable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The spine-and-leaf architecture is very scalable. If you need more ports to plug servers in, you add more leaves. If you need more throughput then you add more spines. All of the switches at the top are the spine, and those plug into those are the leaves, and then the servers plug into the leaves. It's highly scalable, because if you have more servers then just purchase two more switches. If you need more throughput and better performance, then you just purchase two switches for the spine. You can continue to scale out the model very simply. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? The Nexus 9000 platform is by far the best-selling and most popular, and there are a couple of reasons for that. It's less expensive than a 7K or 5K solution and in fact, we hardly sell the 5Ks anymore. The 9000 really works well in the spine-and-leaf, which is the current architecture. How was the initial setup? The initial setup is really straightforward and if you use ACI, running on top of the Nexus 9K, you don't really have to do anything but plug the switches in. The software manages all of the policy. Without ACI, setup requires the use of the command line, which is the same as it's always been. What about the implementation team? The maintenance can be handled by one person or a small team. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The Nexus 9000 is very competitively priced. What other advice do I have? The Nexus Dashboard is a relatively new product that is in the portfolio for the data center. It hosts the multi-site orchestrator and has functionality for self-healing and self-optimizing of the data center network. It's Nexus' best work. My advice for anybody who is considering this solution is that if you're looking to cut costs in the data center, there's not that big of a difference between a Cisco switch and other switches. But, when it comes to things like storage, between the most expensive and the least expensive, there's a lot of different pricing in there. So, I wouldn't cut costs on your switches. I would suggest looking at other areas where you can cut costs. I would rate this solution a ten out of ten. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to work with, has good load latency, and is slightly less expensive than Cisco What is most valuable? Great latency (bundled with great L1/L2/L3 features) depending on platforms. What needs improvement? There is a lot of room for improvement within the solution. Any product, however, can improve. No product is perfect. The solution needs to accommodate new features. I have personally made some recommendations in the past and hope to see this implemented in their product line. I think there is a need for improvement in the area of their VXLAN/EVPN capability but their current solution is great regardless but may be not very scalable for a global deployment. For how long have I used the solution? I've been using the solution for three years at this point. It's been a while. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Again, this depend on the solution and requirement. Arista has different models that can fit into small, medium and large datacenter. Scalability is a factor in any design for expansion. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? Depending on the need and requirement, I have worked with different platforms including Cisco, Juniper and some security platforms such as Checkpoint, Fortinet, Cisco ASA and Juniper SRX. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? Arista and Cisco are comparatively the same or Cisco a bit more expensive depending on the platforms. However, I like Arista's licensing approach. Cisco licensing could be made simpler. What other advice do I have? Every industry is different, so what is going to work for a service provider might not really work for an enterprise environment. Requirement is key in any design proposal. Vendor/Platforms should tailored to the requirements and solutions. Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Valuable data center features, continual feature refinement, highly scalable and stable. What is our primary use case? I use the solution in the customer's companies. I have used many different version of the solution. What is most valuable? I find all the data center features to be most valuable, such as VXLAN and OTV. The ACI and FEX connectivity are good features too. Cisco is refining the features all the time and you can see this in all the different vendors. What needs improvement? They could improve on having different technologies between product models. The management dashboard could be better if it could handle the Catalyst and the Nexus at the same time. If Cisco could find management connectivity between the DMA center and the ACI connectivity this would be helpful. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using the product for more than ten years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution is stable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? I have found the scalability good with this product. How are customer service and technical support? The support we received was excellent. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? Rated 5 out of 5 by from A stable and scalable solution with good tech support which allows the managers to work unencumbered What is our primary use case? I do not know which version we are using. What is most valuable? The solution has good stability, so the technical team, the people handling the data center, are very comfortable with it and can push some policies as per the applications. So, I feel the solution to be okay. It really supports the management perspective. While it may not add value for the users, it enables the administrators to work freely. I am referring to the port network switches. What needs improvement? The solution could be more user-friendly. It should have a more lenient cost. It could be cheaper in general. The installation process lasted too long, taking 16 to 24 hours for full completion. It should be faster. For how long have I used the solution? We have been using Cisco Nexus for two years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution is sufficiently stable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? I feel the solution to be sufficiently scalable. How are customer service and technical support? Tech support is good. There is no need for it to be improved. How was the initial setup? Installation is unduly long, with the entire process lasting 16 to 24 hours. What about the implementation team? We have around ten people managing these devices, consisting of managers, administrators and engineers. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The solution should be more cost-effective in general. There is an annual licensing fee. What other advice do I have? The same 9,000 people connect daily to these applications in our data center. What do I think about the stability of the solution? When it comes to the stability we had some issues with some software features due to a release bug. The hardware itself is pretty stable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The solution is scalable. How was the initial setup? The initial installation is pretty straightforward, it takes approximately an hour. When you start with the configuration and moving forward from there, which is not only a matter of technical configuration or the key component but the integration into the environment, this can take several hours. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The solution is expensive. What other advice do I have? I would advise others before implantation this solution to study. There are some big changes in respect to the previous concept of networking. There is a learning curve that needs to be considered. I rate Cisco Nexus an eight out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? On-premises Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good hardware, very stable code, good support, and good scalability What is our primary use case? It basically is the switching room platform for both of our data centers. We've got two private data centers in California. We are fully upgraded, so we are running the latest version of this solution. What is most valuable? It is very stable. It has good hardware and very stable code. It provides good value for its price. They are a very lean type of organization, so they are very responsive, and they are able to focus more on their platform versus having multiple products out there. What needs improvement? Its price can be better. For how long have I used the solution? We deployed Arista in 2019 to replace our Cisco devices. What do I think about the stability of the solution? It is very stable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Its scalability is really good. All of our data centers, systems, storage, and applications are using it. It is being used for everything that we host on-prem. All of our users are essentially using it. How are customer service and technical support? They've been really good. I actually enjoy them a lot more than Cisco. I would rate them a nine or ten out of ten. They solve issues. I've opened five cases, and I haven't had a poor experience with any of the cases. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? We were using Cisco devices. What we really liked about Arista is that they have embraced a more open multi-vendor approach. Cisco is more towards a closed proprietary. After deploying Arista, we saw quite a few congestion issues that we were having with Cisco being resolved. How was the initial setup? It was fairly easy. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? It is pretty pricey for a networking platform. It is on par with Cisco. What other advice do I have? I would recommend this solution. We've been happy with it. I don't really have too many complaints about it. They are pretty good about releasing new features. They keep adding new features on their centrally managed platform, which is CloudVision. I would rate Arista Networks Platform a nine out of ten. Rated 5 out of 5 by from We found it to be the only product with Multi-Tenancy What is most valuable? From a data center implementation, with respect to competition from your data, there isn't really a product recovery for the different tests other than Cisco Nexus. For example, if you take Multi-tenancy for the data center, it's something which, I think, only Cisco has. There are some implementations from HP, but I think it's limited there. What needs improvement? One of the biggest challenges, which I see is that there's a constant evolution in the product. For example, our configuration is based on what is known as traditional data center implementation. Today there is the ACI deployment and to implement, to migrate from one technology to another, that's challenging both from a configuration perspective and also from a cost perspective. We have had a problem in an order of a batch of optics, which is practically failing. So that was about the average of optics, which caused us quite some problem. For how long have I used the solution? We have been using Cisco Nexus Switches since 2017 or about four years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? This year, we have only experienced the problem once. Of course, it was not identified and I had a problem with OTB wiring and we experienced it just once. I stayed in kind of generic configuration, that's why we're like Cisco, because they are significantly stable. If you don't try to do something fancy and they don't get problems. How are customer service and technical support? We have also the advance services of Cisco to support us there. I think they are still better than some competition. But, I think, their quality has decreased. In the past week they were not very good. They have had better quality. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? We work with our account manager to negotiate a good price, so overall, I think the pricing is fair. What other advice do I have? I would recommend Cisco Nexus Switches. Of course, there is the ACI deployment and the challenges there. It is always a challenge to keep up with the technology. They are just constantly doing some updates and changes and becoming the modern marketer is challenging. So in the past fiscal year for data center and every JSS deployment things are much more complicated. I would give it an eight on a scale of ten, because of the problem which we had. I'm just thinking in respect of competition. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Scalable, stable and easily installable, but more expensive than Juniper switches and lacks a single switch for multiple ports What needs improvement? Cisco Nexus could also have better documentation. Moreover, it would be nice if the solution offered multiple types of port support. It does not have, for example, a single switch for both internet and fiber ports. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using Cisco Nexus for around 10 years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution has demonstrated stability thus far. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The solution is scalable. How are customer service and technical support? The technical support is fine. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? For Cisco, we use Nexus and 2900. How was the initial setup? The initial setup is easy. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? As I deal with the technical aspects of the solution, I am not in a position to comment on the price. Which other solutions did I evaluate? We consider Juniper switches to be more affordable. What other advice do I have? I use the solution in my own company. It works. There are around 500-plus devices being utilized in our organization. My advice to others is that they get initial hands-on experience in a lab environment. This should involve a proper grasp of the solution's features, such as that which concerns troubleshooting and may involve a different setup. Only at this point should one enter the production stage. I rate Cisco Nexus as a seven out of ten. Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Provides telemetry and visibility for many metrics What is our primary use case? We use it more like a complete network operations center. What is most valuable? It provides telemetry and visibility for many metrics that are not supported by most of the other vendors. Out of the box, no third party solutions are needed. CloudVision is the central management, and all the features installed are from the same vendor. I like that telemetry and metrics are available. Also, the provisioning feature and all these features are from the same vendor. What needs improvement? The cost of Arista Networks Platform is high; it is more expensive than other networking solutions. Also, the community is good but is not good enough. It still needs to grow more. Maybe, if they had out-of-the-box NetFlow features to integrate with third party solutions, it will be good. For how long have I used the solution? I've been working with it for about 10 months now as a system integrator. We sell physical appliances to our customers for their on-premises deployment. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? One of our future customers will use Arista Networks Platform to support around 1,500 employees. How was the initial setup? Two technicians would be sufficient for deployment because with Arista Networks Platform, you have the Zero Touch Provisioning feature. You have simple management, which reduces the number of hands needed to work with the solution. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? Cost wise, Arista Networks Platform is more expensive than other networking solutions. What other advice do I have? On a scale from one to ten, I would rate this solution at nine. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great GUI, user-friendly, and easy to scale What is our primary use case? We primarily use the solution as a switch. We use it for our data center. What is most valuable? Cisco Nexus is a very powerful switch. We don't have any problems with Nexus, ever. It's very stable. We have been, for almost five years, using Nexus, and it has been virtually problem-free. It's smooth to use and very, very user-friendly. The GUI is very, very easy to maintain. It's very easy to log in. The reporting is quite good. It's easy to understand. Technical support has been very, very helpful and they offer good SLAs. The scalability of the product is very good. What needs improvement? The solution is more expensive than other options on the market. HPE, for example, is a more affordable option. The renewal of support is quite expensive. For how long have I used the solution? We've used the solution for about five years at this point. It's been a while. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The stability is great. There are no bugs or glitches and it doesn't crash or freeze. It's 100% reliable. We've never had issues. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The solution is very easy to scale out. If a company needs to expand it, it can do so. How are customer service and technical support? Technical support from Cisco is more than enough. It's very, very good. They are very fast and responsive and also very easy to understand. The response is good. We don't have issues with after-sales support Cisco. The SLA, service license agreement, is very, very good. That said, the renewal for full support is very expensive for us. How was the initial setup? I did not handle the initial setup myself as I am not an engineer. Someone else handled that part. Therefore, I can't speak to how easy or difficult it might be. My colleague is much more versed in installation protocols. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The solution, in general, is a bit pricey, and you need to pay extra for support, which can also be expensive. What other advice do I have? We're just a customer and an end-user. I would recommend using Cisco Nexus for those who want good performance, premium support, and easy maintenance. Cisco Nexus is a stable product in Indonesia. If a company is in the banking, oil and gas, or telecom industries, they should look into this product. I'd rate the solution at a nine out of ten. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Robust architecture, reliable, and useful automation What is our primary use case? We use this solution for many purposes. For example, to automate Nexus switches and to view the modern architecture network, such as SDN. What is most valuable? The most valuable features are the solution is robust, you are able to use it for fabric architecture as well as SPAN on exit with the controller. What needs improvement? Nexus switches should be able to support network function virtualization (NFV). For how long have I used the solution? I have been using the solution for approximately five years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? I have found Cisco Nexus switches highly scalable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? This solution is very scalable because of the architecture. We have approximately 400 users using this solution in my organization. How are customer service and technical support? I am satisfied with the Cisco support, they are very good. How was the initial setup? The installation is very easy and it took me approximately 10 minutes to install. What about the implementation team? We did the implementation of the solution ourselves. We have a few administrators that do the implementation and maintenance of the solution. We do not need a really big team because it can be automated, we need them mostly for orchestration. What other advice do I have? I rate Cisco Nexus a nine out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? On-premises Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to set up with good functionality and a very high capacity What is our primary use case? We use Cisco Nexus on our server-side. We use the product for the access switches layer. We basically take a look at the actual DNA center, however, it will be a time until we will implement the agent from Cisco again. What is most valuable? The solution is very easy to use. It can implement with 40-gigabit plus technologies and gives us enormous speed. What was the one gigabit per second ten years ago, is now 10 gigabits per second. The future is likely to be 400 gigabits per second. Cisco is on its way there. The huge capacity of Nexus is excellent. All the frames are managed on the assets, not on software, which makes things easier. It is essentially dedicated circuit hardware, an integrated circuit for certain tasks. We can see the functionality of the switches. The policies are very clear. The mean time between failures and TBF value is very, very high on Cisco Nexus. The initial setup is quite simple and straightforward. What needs improvement? I'm not in a good position to comment on what might be lacking. I just use the Nexus switches, and I'm very happy to use the machines. A lot of technologies and features are present on Cisco Nexus and I haven't had a chance to dive into all of them just yet. We had some issues, strange issues with our firewall from Cisco, however, we resolved them with Cisco. They were very, very strange issues indeed. However, they seem to originate only on our site, and not from Nexus. From my point of view, I've never seen in 20 years, a single breakdown. They should work to make the pricing more reasonable for the local market. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The stability is excellent. I haven't witnessed a breakdown. Cisco is very reliable. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. The performance is excellent. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The solution can scale. We use it for a rather large organization. We have just over 4,000 employees and around 20,000 active ports. Our operation is big enough that it spreads over half of Romania. How are customer service and technical support? The support on offer is excellent. Everyone is helpful and responsive. We get the answers we need and support is full of ideas in terms of how to tackle issues. We're quite satisfied with them overall. How was the initial setup? The initial setup is not too diffcult. I wouldn't describe it as complex. It's quite straightforward to execute. We simply program it over the CLI, command-line interface, and it's pretty easy to do. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The pricing is a little bit high, however, we didn't use all the facilities and when we pay for a license, we pay a lot. That said, we only use a little bit from those licenses. In the local market, this solution is considered pricey. It might be fair pricing from the point of view of Cisco, however, it may be too high from the point of view of Romanian companies. Right now, we should upgrade our wireless LAN controller, the controller WLC, and that means that we should switch to another assembly controller and we will lose all the licenses that we already have on the actual WLCs. It's not an easy decision. What other advice do I have? In general, Cisco products are excellent and we've been really happy with them. I'd rate the solution, on a scale from one to ten, at a perfect ten. Disclaimer: My company has a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer:Integrator

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Low latency, good performance, and very stable What is our primary use case? We are using it for the data center. We have its latest version. What is most valuable? Its low latency is most valuable. Its performance is good, and it is also very stable. What needs improvement? The operating system needs to be improved. There should be stability in the operating system, and it should not have as many vulnerabilities. It is very expensive. Its price could be better. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using this solution for ten years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? It is very stable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? It is a really good scalable product. Currently, we have about 50 users. We don't have any plans to increase its usage. How are customer service and technical support? I don't have experience with the technical support of Cisco. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? We didn't use any other solution previously. How was the initial setup? Its installation is straightforward. It only takes 15 minutes. What about the implementation team? We do it ourselves. We have about four admins for deployment and maintenance. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? It is very expensive. Its licensing is on a yearly basis. Which other solutions did I evaluate? We didn't evaluate other options. What other advice do I have? I would recommend this solution to others. Cisco is a good vendor to work with. I would rate Cisco Nexus an eight out of ten.
