Rated 5 out of 5 by from A stable and easy-to-configure solution that can be used to interconnect servers and workstations What is our primary use case? We use Cisco Ethernet Switches to interconnect the 20 to 25 servers and workstations in our control room. What is most valuable? We use Cisco Ethernet Switches to configure VLANs in the VPN network. We need to put some subsystems in the VLAN so that other terminals will not access these equipment. We do all these configurations on the solution. The solution is easy to configure. What needs improvement? The solution's reliability should be improved. We see that some ports must be reset when in the hang mode. Only after a reset can we make use of those ports. There could be some internal or external reasons for the hang. We are looking for an improved reliability aspect. For how long have I used the solution? I have worked with Cisco Ethernet Switches for over 20 years as an end user. What do I think about the stability of the solution? There are no issues with the solution’s stability. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Our department is quite big. About 50 engineers are accessing different nodes. How are customer service and support? The solution’s customer support service is quite good. How was the initial setup? The solution is easy to install. They're all plugin modules. One engineer can complete the solution’s deployment within one to one and a half hours. We are a government department. Our engineers buy the equipment, follow the installation instructions, and do the installation. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The solution’s pricing is reasonable. The solution has a lifetime license because we are not renewing the license every year. It is a one-time purchase. What other advice do I have? So far, the failure rate with the solution is very low, and we want to find a spare for the existing unit. Users must be familiar with the operation and configuration of Cisco Ethernet Switches to use them. They have to familiarize themselves with the solution and know the different configurations and features it supports. Users need to understand the solution properly before using it. Cisco Ethernet Switches is a good solution. Overall, I rate Cisco Ethernet Switches ten out of ten. Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A highly stable product meant for enterprise-sized businesses that offer a lot of training materials online What is our primary use case? What is most valuable? The fact that the solution is very stable and commonly used in our industry makes them the solution's valuable features. What needs improvement? I can't elaborate on an area in the solution that needs improvement since it is a very good tool. The price is an area with a shortcoming in the solution. I would like to see the solution being made available in the market at a lower price. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using Cisco Ethernet Switches for five to six years. I am a customer of the solution. What do I think about the stability of the solution? Cisco Ethernet Switches can be described as a ninety-nine percent stable tool. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? For enterprise-sized companies, Cisco is the number one product in the market. The solution is scalable and offers good resilience. In my environment, we have 2,500 of our clients using the product. We need two to five administrators for the configuration part. I don't know if my company plans to increase the solution's usage in the future. How are customer service and support? We don't need any support from Cisco since there are a lot of materials and training about Cisco available online. I feel Cisco's support is good. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? I also work with Mikrotik devices, but Cisco is something else altogether as a product. Mikrotik is okay for small businesses since its prices are much lower than Cisco's prices. Mikrotik has no advantage other than the pricing aspect over Cisco. How was the initial setup? I have taken part in the deployment and operations part of Cisco Ethernet Switches. My company did not face any difficulties during the deployment phase. The time taken for deployment depends on the situation. At times, deployment can be done in half a day. If the network is bigger, the time for deployment can increase. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? Price-wise, Cisco Ethernet Switches is a product that falls a little bit on the expensive side. What other advice do I have? I am satisfied with Cisco Ethernet Switches. I recommend Cisco Ethernet Switches as a solution for enterprise-size businesses. I haven't worked with Ruckus. I think Cisco Ethernet Switches is the number one tool in the market. In the future, I may work with Ruckus and would be in a better position to speak about Cisco Ethernet Switches. Overall, I rate the solution a ten out of ten. Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy-to-deploy product with the availability of good technical documentation What is our primary use case? At present, I am evaluating Cisco Ethernet Switches. What needs improvement? We can easily integrate the product with any OEM solutions. But in the case of an already existing network, we encounter technical issues related to following protocols. How are customer service and support? They provide good technical documentation and webinars. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? Cisco Catalyst Switches are more scalable than the product. How was the initial setup? Deploying the product is very straightforward. With the help of the OEM's datasheet, product guide, and installation guide, we can easily set up the switches. What about the implementation team? I help my customers implement the product. Which other solutions did I evaluate? Cisco and Aruba have similar functionality. We provide these solutions to the customers as per their requirements. What other advice do I have? I advise others to understand their business requirements and goals before purchasing the product. I rate it a nine out of ten. Rated 5 out of 5 by from A stable solution that has a user-friendly initial setup What is our primary use case? Cisco Ethernet Switches can be used for any particular application. We have many customers like IDBI and State Bank of India using Cisco switches, Cisco routers, and Cisco SD-WAN. My organization provides some Cisco switches and AMCs of Cisco switches. What is most valuable? Cisco Ethernet Switches is a very stable product. Cisco products are extremely rugged and stable. I have faced very few complaints about Cisco products supplied to my customers. What needs improvement? From a system integrator's perspective, Cisco must train system integrators, partners, and customers about their services. Cisco has many products like switches, routers, and now SD-WAN, and they need to educate the partners and customers about these services. For how long have I used the solution? I've been dealing with Cisco Ethernet Switches for about 25 years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? I rate Cisco Ethernet Switches ten out of ten for stability. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Since Cisco Ethernet Switches can be integrated with different modules, we can have one switch to scale up to 10, 15, or 20 switches. The solution is enterprise scalable and telecom scalable. I've got about 12 to 14 customers using Cisco products. How are customer service and support? In my previous organization, my service engineer used Cisco's technical support, and their response was quite good. How was the initial setup? Setting up a Cisco switch or router is very user-friendly as far as the service team is concerned. What about the implementation team? Cisco L2 switches hardly take a couple of hours or less than an hour to deploy. It all depends on whether the customer requires VLAN and what type of setup they require. LC switches would take a couple of days to deploy, depending on the SoW the customer provides. The solution's tech support is also quite good. Most of their employees have done the Cisco certification, and installing Cisco Ethernet Switches doesn't take any time. The deployment model is quite simple. It's fit-and-play if it's an L2 switch. However, if it is an L3 switch, some configurations are required, which takes time. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? There are certain modules for L3 switches. Customers have to pay for some of the L3 switches licenses, which are expensive. What other advice do I have? Overall, I rate Cisco Ethernet Switches ten out of ten. Disclaimer: My company has a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer:Integrator

What do I think about the stability of the solution? I rate the tool’s stability a ten out of ten. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The scalability of the solution depends on the models. I rate the scalability a nine out of ten. How are customer service and support? I have contacted support many times. The support is good, but not that good. How would you rate customer service and support? Neutral How was the initial setup? The initial setup is very straightforward and simple. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The solution is not too expensive. What other advice do I have? If someone uses the solution for the first time, they must know that network design is the most important part. They must pick the right models. Overall, I rate the product a nine out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? On-premises Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Secure and reliable switches with a straightforward setup process What is our primary use case? The use case for Cisco Ethernet switches is foundational networking, which includes packet switching and routing within the organization's network. It facilitates communication between devices and networks, ensuring data packets are appropriately directed to their destinations. What is most valuable? Cisco Ethernet Switches are rugged, secure, and scalable. It provides smart devices and reliable switches. What needs improvement? There are instances where the commands you are familiar with might change or be replaced with newer syntax. They could provide details to know about the changed processes. Additionally, its pricing needs improvement. What do I think about the stability of the solution? It is a stable platform. How are customer service and support? We can find references in the product's knowledge base to resolve the technical issues. How was the initial setup? The initial setup process is straightforward. It involves understanding the user's configuration requirements. Setting up IP addresses or configuring security features like authentication can be accomplished within three to four minutes. Further, we configure security features like passwords, consoles, and connectivity to help prevent unauthorized access. It requires one technical executive for deployment and maintenance. What was our ROI? The product is worth the investment. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The product is expensive. However, it is cost-effective, considering its durability. There is only a need for licensing in case of specific security requirements or advanced configurations where we need to activate certain modules. We need to buy licenses for wireless controllers or VPNs. What other advice do I have? I recommend Cisco Ethernet Switches to others and rate it a ten out of ten. Rated 5 out of 5 by from A stable solution that can be used to provide end-user connectivity in an optimized and balanced way What is our primary use case? I use Cisco Ethernet Switches to provide end-user connectivity in an optimized, balanced, and stable way. Before being a security engineer, I was a network architect or network manager. In that case, Cisco Ethernet Switches were mostly related to the classic set of data centers. What is most valuable? Cisco Ethernet Switches are more stable than other products. What needs improvement? The solution's pricing could be improved. Cisco is one of those market leaders who always try to benefit from having a market-leading position. Cisco gradually increased prices for the same products they delivered over the decade. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using Cisco Ethernet Switches for 17 years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? I rate Cisco Ethernet Switches a nine out of ten for stability. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Around 3,000 users use the solution in our organization. I rate Cisco Ethernet Switches a nine out of ten for scalability. How are customer service and support? The solution's first-line technical support is terrible. The second-line support is always adequate. I always tend to skip the first-line support because most of these people just run by a script book, and they start to panic when they don't see a solution in the script. So, I tend to always ask for second-level agents. How was the initial setup? The solution’s initial setup is straightforward. What about the implementation team? The solution's deployment time depends on the company's size and client requirements. For the solution's deployment, we start with the analysis phase, the financial aspect, the implementation phase, the operational phase, and hypercare. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? Users have to pay an annual licensing fee for Cisco Ethernet Switches, which is expensive. Cisco asks for an additional fee for the support part, whereby you become eligible to download firmware updates. What other advice do I have? In the case of Cisco, users should not limit their knowledge about the hardware from Cisco but should also deep dive into general network services and topologies. Users should not consider Cisco a specific and unique brand but should understand the services that run under Cisco appliances. Overall, I rate Cisco Ethernet Switches an eight out of ten. Rated 5 out of 5 by from A high-performance product that serves as the backbone of an organization's network What is our primary use case? I use Cisco Ethernet Switches as a core product in the infrastructure that serves as the backbone of my network. What is most valuable? The most valuable feature of the solution is the performance of the product. What needs improvement? I don't like the fact that the product is very expensive. There are a lot of software subscriptions to which a user needs to subscribe other than the support and services offered by Cisco. In general, Cisco is a very good product but expensive. There should not be different licenses for subscriptions, Cisco SMARTnet Service, or support, and they should all be made available under one single license. If you want to use the support offered by Cisco, you may not have access to the support services. The support services may be offered as a part of a subscription that needs to be purchased while getting users to space separately for Cisco SMARTnet Service, while in general, everything should be available in a single license. Cisco always announces the end of life support, which is really great, but Cisco should also offer the buyback option for existing customers instead of getting them to make new investments to use Cisco products. For how long have I used the solution? I have experience with Cisco Ethernet Switches. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution's stability is very high. The benefit a user experiences with Cisco is that it is easy to find a lot of knowledgeable people in the market. Many people understand Microsoft, but it doesn't mean that Windows is the best compared to Linux, which is more stable but they are used less in the market. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Regarding the product's scalability, the scalability option will be available as long as the product or the hardware does not reach the end of life or support. All the people working in my company use the solution, which comes to more than 8000 people. My company plans to increase the number of users who use the solution. How are customer service and support? I have experience with the technical support offered by Cisco's support team, and I feel that they were a bit slow in their response. How was the initial setup? The product's initial setup phase was easy because our company got help from an engineer associated with Cisco. If you don't get any help from an engineer from Cisco, then the setup phase will be difficult. In my company, we have a Cisco-certified engineer on our team. The time period required to deploy the product is something that depends on the project, but if you have the right people with the right skills, then it doesn't take too much time to deploy the solution. The solution is deployed on an on-premises model. For the deployment process, you designed the network and built the infrastructure before testing the product with the help of PoC. The deployment phase may seem like a long process, and it is not something that is applicable only to Cisco since the same process is followed for the switches from other brands like Huawei and HPE. In my company, we need more than three people, consisting of a system engineer, network, and technical support, to not just take care of the deployment part of the solution but also to monitor it twenty-four hours, seven days a week. What about the implementation team? My company takes care of the product's installation process with the help of our in-house team. What was our ROI? If a person plans to buy a new switch or a new product launched by Cisco recently, then there is a guarantee that it will last for seven to ten years, meaning the return on investment is high. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? It is an expensive product. What other advice do I have? Considering the present products in the market, Cisco is a leader in the networking world, but price-wise, products from Cisco are priced crazily. To those who plan to buy the solution, I would suggest that they speak directly to the vendor and not to a consultant so that they can secure a better deal. Dealing with the vendor always fractures positive responses, especially in terms of the costs attached to the solution. I rate the overall product a nine out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? On-premises Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.
