Rated 5 out of 5 by from CANCELLED ORDER I placed my order 5 weeks ago and have been waiting for the camera since. They randomly tried to charge my card at midnight and since I had the money in my savings and not my checking, they cancelled my entire order. I called customer service and told me they could creat a new order but I would be back at the bottom of the line, even though I have already waited 5 weeks. Decided to not give canon my money anymore because that is absolutely ridiculous. They will give you no heads up on when they charge your card, so make sure you have the full amount in your account at all times

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great multi tasking camera So I bought this nifty little number for my holiday, was going to Yosemite national park, some beaches, so I wanted something small that could do lots of different shots in different environments. This camera does them all with ease, the more proficient camera user could mess around with the settings and such like and you would love it, for the novice, you can just leave it in auto and let the camera do it all for you.\ Wifi connecting is a great plus, the app works perfectly on my phone and this just means you can upload to various sites etc that we all love to use these days. The flip up screen makes selfies (we all do them) so easy and also for the modern day Vloggers this just makes life to easy too. Great battery life, lightweight, not too bulky, for the money you can do a lot worse trust me. If you have the means to do so then I would consider buying this camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good camera, terrible app and tech I love this camera. But I HATE HATE HATE the wifi transfer utility. The old process/app were OK, but they nixed it and the new app is unusable. You have zero control over which photos get uploaded and what resolution is preserved (hint: it's not full resolution. The only solution I can think of is to go out and by a chip reader, defeating the purpose of a WiFi camera. I will not be buying a Canon product again. The best point and shoot in the world is useless with out a decent transfer app.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from DO NOT ORDER I bought this item at the end of December. They charged my card then said they gave the money back after 3 days then tried to REcharge my card again today because they got some cameras in and it wouldn’t process so they cancelled my order. But I never leave this much money in my checking it’s all in my savings. Had they sent an email to me BEFORE they cancelled my order in attempts to try and charge it I would have transferred the funds. But I got no prior emails , they only sent one when they cancelled my order. Horrible service and it makes it worse that I had been waiting going on 3 months for this stupid camera and needed it for an upcoming spring break trip.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pricey for a partly working camera Compact and lightweight. WIFI is nearly impossible to connect. USB cord cannot transfer files. I have to take the memory card out and use a card reader. Issues with autofocus; sometimes, it just went out of focus, lost for a few seconds before regaining focus.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from best of the 1 inch cameras I have been a fan of the 1 inch cameras. I am a serious amateur, but need a camera for the pocket, so most DSLR or even mirorless are out for me. I have owned the SONY rx 100 series. That is an incredible travel camera, even better then this canon in some ways. But to me, I do not need the larger zoom on the SOny. The canon combination of 1 inch sensor with the F 1.8 lens and image stabilization, can rival APS-C sensors in lower light and certainly in daylight. image quality is amazing, excellent feel and control, fantastic touch screen function. the camera also feels more substantial the Lumix or even the SOny. If you strictly want a travel camera with a bigger zoom, go with the SONY, but if you want an overall day to day camera as a sort of SLR substitute that fits in the pocket. this is the winner. overall, I think Canon really hit a home run with this camera, if used for the right purpose.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great camera; lousy camera strap I just purchased this camera, and so far, I'm delighted with it. What I am not delighted with is the strap that came with the camera. For the price, it should have come with a better neck strap. However, this doesn't take away from the camera itself at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Camera! Great Vlogging Camera! I am a YouTube vlogger, and this is an amazing Point and Shoot Camera! I use many cameras: Canon VIXIA HF G40, Nikon D5200 (with a different lens and external mic), Nikon Coolpix S7000, Panasonic LUMIX DMC-ZS7 (Black), and more! But honestly, this is my favorite! For most of my filming I use the Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II and the Canon VIXIA HF G40 with the Shure VP83 Condenser Microphone. I am very impressed with the Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II! If you are looking to buy a great, small, Point and Shoot that takes amazing raw photos and 1080p60 video.... Buy the Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II! Go Canon!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A very good camera Have only had this camera a short time now, but have used it enough to know I like it. EXCEPT, for a couple of issues. First, the lack of threads for a lens filter. I have gone to a competitor to get an addon to make up for this lack. Yes, the camera is able to spoof many filters plus printing can add filter results. But I like the control the filters give me. Plus having an external lens cap helps with the dust issue mentioned by others. The other issue is not have a way to use an exteral flash, other than one that is not wired. That is okay but I do like having an oncamera flash rather than the built in Plus not being able to have a wired control for activating photos so I dont have to worry about camera shake. Yes, I know, I can build in a delay when I take photos but not the best way in my opinion. I have used canon cameras for around 50 years. I love them. I have two full frame that I use as well as a couple I have converted to Infrared. Got a heck of alot of lenses and filters for all. But I am getting old and I wanted a lighter smaller camera to use other than the big ones. I used to have the first G1 that canon came out with. I used it alot. But then it had problems and needed fixing and canon had discontiued repairs on that old G1 just a few months before it quit on me. Just my luck. I give this a 4 star because it is a good camera despited the limitations and I will use it. Maybe I will get me another G1 when they have one that I like the looks of. We will see.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Camera! I bought this because of all the stellar reviews that are online about this camera. It meets all my expectations in daily shooting. In some of the other reviews here I see the complaints about the panoramic function missing. This is no deal breaker by any stretch and performed subpar to begin with. Upload just about any image panorama software for free and it will do a better job. There is no doubt it is a good camera but what is not disclosed in any of the reviews I read are in order of importance to me: * The macro mode on this camera at best is mediocre, no make that simply bad. It gets no closer than 2" and the peripheral part of the picture is completely out of focus. My G12, G16, 280, 700 all take excellent macro and this simply doesn't. So if this is a function you are looking for in your camera this is not a good choice. * The video on this camera is no better than any of the above mentioned cameras. * Why is Canon including chargers with an extension cord that I received when they also manufacture the conventional charger with the attached flip out plug. *

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great with One Reservation Took on our last cruise. Wonderful images and great features. Totally automatic to totally manual. Love the portrait feature that automatically blurs the background. Only issue is the lack of viewfinder. The LCD screen is very hard to see in bright sunlight. Ended up with a lot of "tilted" images that had to be corrected in iPhoto app. Wish an optional viewfinder was available.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best compact camera! I’m a live long canon SLR and DSLR user. This year I decided to try small because I like to walk outdoors. This camera is awesome does everything my other cameras can do, except changeable lenses. The lens it does have does work very well and has a great zoom. I’m hoping future models will have changeable lenses. For the money I highly recommend this camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Travel Camera - 10 Day Italy Trip Rather than carrying my 7D II with 24-70L and 70-200L lenses on our family trip to Italy this month, I researched and bought the G7 X II earlier this month. What a great decision. Easily fit in my jeans pocket, great low light pics (in St. Peter's Basilica and other historic buildings), crisp and clean JPEGs with little need for editing (I wirelessly uploaded to my IPad Pro each evening, for minimal editing before posting, and fabulous results. Near professional or pro results, as evidenced by the feedback received. It made the 10 day trip around Italy so much more enjoyable not having to carry a heavy bag, and change lenses. The only knock is the battery life, as I had to charge late afternoon or I'd run out of power in the evening. I have since bought a 2nd battery for future use. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the best cameras I have ever used I keep coming back to this camera. Amazing for traveling, without going to my EOS cameras. Love the pro capabilities. Couple of ways to make this even better: 1 the battery and memory card access is on the side instead of bottom. this is helpful when the camera is mounted on a tripod, and I need to change battery or memory card during a long shoot. 2) better optical zoom 3) audio recording is still below average. audio recording does not compare to my iPhones (even older versions).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Written instructions. Got this camera for Xmas 2017. Takes great pictures. Needs a case to carry it in. I got a TAMRAC 5692 which works for camera with filter attachment and also has separate pocket for charger which you must take on trips. Also got a nice soft EYESKEY neck strap for binoculars which I like. Also got a 32GB fast memory card for use with video. BUT - cannot buy any instruction book anywhere. Camera comes with a small "Getting Started" manual which has a lot of information about all functions but I like a big book.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I wanted to like this camera. Now that I have run a few thousand exposures through this camera, I'm not that happy with it. I shoot a lot of close distances and the auto focus can't seem to get it right even with touch screen. It always tries to focus to further points. Very annoying. The dialed back 2 inch minimum focus is also a problem. I could get much closer with my G16. G16 also had a viewfinder and hot shoe. Those are gone. Sometimes I have been impressed with superior sharpness and overall image quality but it seems you need to make more exposures to get a good one. Lots of deleting and do overs. It does well middle distance and beyond which makes it marginally better than a phone. I appreciate having f-11. I bought this recently and it seems a lot of money to not be well satisfied. I ran my last two G series cameras long and hard. They still work. I knew I shouldn't start using these high mileage units again. I just got a SX 740. We'll see how it goes. It does focus to 1 cm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I LOVEEE My first and probably favorite camera ever! It's small and compact but does a perfect job at taking pictures. I mainly use it for personal use for my social media and my photos have never looked better. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Little Camera This camera takes stunning pictures and movies. I wanted a camera that was small enough to fit in my pocket, and that can deliver high quality images. I mostly use the camera in auto mode and have been extremely happy with the results. The battery lasts a long time as long as you don't use the Wi-Fi feature too much. All in all a great camera!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great all around point and shoot This is a perfect option for an all around, compact, point and shoot. I’ve had several compact cameras over the years and this is the best, as far as image quality goes. I keep this on me for quick use and holds up well against more expensive cameras.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Picture but flimsy I purchased this for something light to throw in my pocket. My 6D is too bulky for day to day. This has a great quality photo however it is just not built up enough to withstand getting tossed in your pocket. I have already sent it back to have the zoom finger trigger fixed. It just seems too "dainty" for the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Waste of money The app to transfer photos doesn’t work anymore. The wifi won’t connect to anything. I asked 2 different representatives about what cord I could use to transfer photos from this camera to my M1 Mac. They both told me the wrong cord, bought that and it didn’t even fit. It doesn’t connect to a Mac wirelessly and the reps don’t even know the product well enough to help you with it. It’s ridiculous. Don’t buy this at all. SMH

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I LOVE this camera Takes excellent video footage in loud, dim environments like concerts. Captures gorgeous long-exposure photos of fire spinners and LED flow props. With a steady had it can snap crisp shots of stars in the night sky without a tripod. Has an interface that is easy to use and navigate. The wireless connectivity with smartphones is convenient. Colors come out vivid. It focuses on subjects with ease. The touchscreen is very responsive. I've used this camera for 3 years. I am extremely happy I bought it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Little Camera that Could I came here looking for a tech question and stumbled across some unfair reviews from people who sound like they know little about photography, much less this great camera. I've had mine for three years now and it's been so good it's made it hard for me to find anything else that compares in its size and price range. That includes a couple other bodies from camera companies named after mountains. The G7X Mark II is TRULY pocketable, has nice fast lens, the swivel touchscreen is awesome and it takes good video, too. And don't forget those Canon colors. There is a newer model that adds 4K and some other features but this a great little camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very quality photos Last year, I completed 50 years of motorsports action photography in 13 US states & 2 Canadian provinces. I have the big DSLR's and now a 2 year old R6 mirrorless. I have always had a Canon digital pocket size Point & Shoot since 2006, being 3 models but 6 of them. When the S120 got 'foreign material' inside the lens (just like the other 2 previous models), I chose the replacement to be the G7 X M2. I love its size, to fit into a shirt pocket, its rugged case, it does a really good job of auto focus, on "Auto" shooting mode (which I rarely use on my 'big' cameras) producing almost always absolutely wonderful high quality photos. As long as they are "still" photos. My 2 'big' camera's do "action" photos but they also can do the same "still" photos as the G7 but the size of the 'big' camera body with a big lens is just absolutely heavy and awkward to 'shoot' the same subject as I use the G7 for, with each camera producing the same photo quality. G7 is just such a handy size producing quality photos but its downsize is the subject need to be very nearby, as there is not much zoom in the lens, unlike my 3 other cameras, which includes a Canon SX540HS which is a very handy travel camera with a rather amazing short to long range zoom lens that produces a lot of nice photos, too. All 4 of my cameras have specific 'subjects' that they shoot. I am still 100% Canon equipment, now in its 18th year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pluses and Minuses This little camera produces brilliant images, comparable to those produced by my top of the line SLR. However, the menus and icons are much too complicated and after two years I am still unable to understand them. For example, my thumb touched a dial on the back of the camera and it started producing three images every time I pressed the shutter. Took me weeks to figure it out, even with the instructions at hand. Still, used on "auto" or "program", this camera generally works well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MarineWon I'm a retired commercial photographer and video producer of 40 years. I wanted a compact camera for photo and video that would serve me well. Over the last 2+ years this small but mighty camera has given me everything I've asked it to do. Full auto, manual operations of all types and never a failure. I'm impressed. Delighted to have this camera with me wherever I go.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compact and Powerful I purchased this compact Canon for travel to Japan. I have several full frame cameras including a Mark V and Mark IV along with 85, 24-75, 70-200 lenses, equipment that's very heavy. The GX7 Mark II has the focal range I wanted, the weight and the speed needed to capture the photos and video that I wanted. Focus worked well and the battery life worked for me. I purchased two additional batteries just in case, but never ran out of power during the day. Having the backups went well. I did purchase a larger wrist strap for comfort level and a screen protector for potential scratches since this is my view finder. Since I don't use a selfie stick, the location of the batery compartment was not an issue for me. Recording with sound can be a challenge in windy conditions, just place a wind muff by the built in mic. (not included). Once I uploaded the video the sound level was adequate and I could hear items much better than directly from the camera. The controls are easy to use same standard Canon controls I have on my full frame cameras. Touch screen is an added bonus, still getting aquainted with that since I am used to non-touch screen Canon Camera controls. Although there is no viewfinder, I found using the screen worked well. I didn't miss the viewfinder and really enjoyed being able to angle some shots, selfies, etc. A lot of my shots were taken while on the move wth little time to compose them. Overall I found this to be an excellent purchse and add to my Canon equipment. Recomendations for improvement would be an extenal mic jack, move that battery compartment for those who use a selfie stick, add a more comfortable wrist strap. I researched several other brands and opted to purchase the G7X Mark II, even over the Mark III. Great little camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Flash Issue on 2 Cameras of This Model I bought the camera in June 2017. In December 2021, the flash died. There was a big flash and a pop and the smell of burning. The flash did not work. Canon offered to replace the camera for half price. What a mistake. Now the flash in the new camera works for 1 shot and then will not work for 5 minutes to cool. I do not recommend you buy the camera unless you never use the flash or pay for the 4 year maintenance contract. I have bought multiple Canon camera for over 20 years for my daughters and myself. This is the first model that I've had problems with the flash.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great point & shoot camera! The GX7x has exceeded our expectations with both photo and video quality for a point and shoot camera. We use it primarily for travel. It is easy to use and takes very nice pictures and videos. Far superior to our camera phones we previously used.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use I'm loving this camera! It's very easy to use right out of the box. The pictures and video are so crisp and vibrant. The only con is that it is awkward to hold onto. I make sure I have the wrist strap on when I'm using it.

This camera will allow me to expand my current skill set and give me the advance exposure I need. Plan to really see how well it works when I go to Japan this Fall. Happy I was able to get this camera at a nice discount!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprised Me! I needed a compact camera when I didn't want to haul my full frame around so I opted for the G7 MkII. I was totally taken aback by the quality of this 20mp camera. The color, sharpness, and overall quality of photos is superb! The one draw back may be comments about dust getting in to the lens, but I have not had that problem yet. Still give it a positive 10!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Auto Focus Gets Worse Overtime! This is an awesome camera bought it the same month it came out! The video quality is awesome, image stabilization is good, audio not bad but the autofocus is the problem it gets worse overtime like the Mark 1. The only way my camera wants to focus now is when I touch the screen about 3 times in a 1min video. It has trouble knowing what to focus on, has trouble identifying objects and even people and picks up to much background noise. For an expensive camera the focusing shouldn't degenerate overtime or at all. I hope they get it right for the Mark 3 because when you buy a camera you expect it to last you a couple yrs not 10 months. If they get it right it would be worth the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just got the G7X II to replace my G7X I’ve been very happy with my G7X for the past 3 years. A friend was interested in buying it from me ... so... Rated 5 out of 5 by from PowerShot G7 conversion ability from RAW to jpg I purchased this camera because I wanted to be able to have a camera with me for those sudden opportunities. My 7D is wonderful, but too bulky to carry with me at all times. When purchasing I was specific that a new camera would shoot in RAW. Which this one does. But now I find that neither my version of Photoshop (12 nor my other software, BreezeBrowserPro, are able to convert G7's RAW into jpgs. The email I received from BBPro after inquiring was "Canon only provide raw conversion libraries for their DSLR cameras". Imagine my surprise and disappointment. I have yet to contact Cannon, but until this is resolved I will only be shooting only jpg's. I only gave a 3 star rating because of the RAW issue. As a jpg camera I would up the rating, and when recommending it to a friend I would mention the RAW issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fully functional camera in a small size I bought the G7X Mark II to have a smaller camera to backup my DSLR. The camera is just small enough to fit into a pocket and travels well. I have found the G7X to be fully functional compared to a full size DLSR. The photo quality is outstanding and on par with my EOS 7D. I have really renjoyed shooting the camera and can recommend it for travel photrgraphy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very sharp beautiful pictures I have had this camera for a few months and needed time to get used to it. I stepped up from a power shot sx230 hs which had a nice zoom and was easy to just put in my pocket or purse. This camera is heavier, chunkier and much more sophisticated. I'm still figuring it out, but it is amazing with the digic 7 sensor and all the bells and whistles. The zoom is good for closer things but you won't be able to do wildlife long shots...however it has cropping that does work to bring the subject closer. All in all, it is a very nice camera. If you have large hands the buttons are easily pushed when you don't want them to be as it is very compact. I like the touch screen that is like your smart phone. Using it is the best teacher as I found the instruction book that came with it hard to understand. I go back to it after I have used the camera. Still learning!!! Also the tilt screen is wonderful. After getting used to having that capability I would miss it if it weren't there!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from static hiss in the audio I love the pictures, but there is a lot of audible static hiss in the videos. I’ve done everything I could to fix this problem: wind filter on and off, attenuator on and off, auto-focus on and off, but the static hiss noise remains. I'm not an audio expert, but it sounds like maybe the camera’s microphone gain is turned all the way up. My six year old Canon G12 which cost less than the G7X Mark II has much better audio and much cleaner audio. I took some videos far from anywhere down by the lake shore. I thought it would be nice to hear the sounds of the lapping water and the occasional distant call of a bird of prey. But in the videos I can barely hear anything over the static rumble and hiss. This is an expensive camera, and a good stereo microphone is a must. It’s a good image camera, but it does not rise to its potential because of the poor audio.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Camera! I’m so glad I decided to make this purchase. I love this camera for filming especially. Great quality and automatic features. Rated 5 out of 5 by from BEST OF THE 1 INCH Serious amateur here, like the 1-inch group because for me the most important camera feature is pocketability. Some of the reviews are comparing these cameras to all cameras, which is like comparing apples and oranges. But, of the 3 makers of 1-inch sensors, this is clearly the new king. Sony was clearly the leader with the Rx100. But with the 6, they opted for zoom lens over fast lens. Now, with the 1-inch sensor and the F 1.8 -2.8 4 x zoom, G7x mark 2 is the new leader. Picture quality is fantastic. The fast lens actually lets this rival APS-C quality (I have a few of those too, and truly do not see a difference - minus special lenses of course ). The autofocus is very fast and accurate. (unlike the new Ricoh GR3 which I found unusable). Video is nice, at 1080 HD, crisp picture, sound, and quick lighting and focus adjustment, although I do not use video that often, so can not really give a fair assessment of that aspect of it. bottom line if you want a serious camera, that can fit in your pocket, this is the best of the bunch right now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cannot upload photos I like the convenience of this camera, as I find it sad to only photograph with a cell phone, but have a hard time carting a DSLR everywhere. Unfortunately, I have NEVER been able to consistently upload photos from this camera. The wifi platform is unreliable, and I wish I could just use the same cord that I use to upload from my Canon 7D. Photos are useless if they remain on the camera only.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great camera. Suto-Focue noise on video is unsati I bought this as it has been highly reviewed and recommended by vloggers and others and the perfect point-and-shoot camera. I have always been a Canon loyalist, owning my first in 1975! The reviews were spot on with one MAJOR exception. There is a annoying, distracting and obnoxious noise in the videos. It occurs when the auto-focus is running. It makes a clicking sound, that is there continuously every time the focus changes. The only workaround is to use manual focus. I will be returning it for a replacement Unfortunately I purchased this camera for an upcoming trip.  Once I noticed the grinding noise on video, I tried to get Canon to replace it.  They were willing but said I must send in mine first.  Well there is no way we can get mine mailed in and the replacement received by me in time for the trip.  Why wouldn't;t they send me the replacement and I would send mine simultaneously?  Now I will  have to use it on my trip, workaround the auto focus (not use it and then send it in when I get back.  Hope my videos are at least usable.  The noise is very distracting and annoying during playback.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Missing panorama feature and electronic viewfinder I chose this camera over its competitors because of the touchscreen feature. However, I was disappointed to find out the photo stitch assist is missing in this Mark II model. I believe it is available in the previous model. Also the lack of an electronic viewfinder was a big trade-off. I eventually ended up going with this because of the lack of touchscreen in the competition. Would be wonderful if Canon released a firmware update to add a panorama option in the Scene mode.
