Know your gear

To experience the ultimate in wide-angle photography, the EF 11-24mm f/4L USM brings L-series construction and optics to the wide zoom lens. With an expansive wide-angle range, this is an ideal lens for landscapes, interior shots, and unique perspectives on subjects close and far. Its amazing optical design features Super UD and UD lenses that correct chromatic aberration. Four aspheric lens elements help to minimize distortion from the center of the image to the periphery and throughout the zoom range. A Subwavelength Coating (SWC) and Air Sphere Coating (ASC) significantly reduce flare and ghosting, while a 9-blade circular aperture diaphragm creates beautiful, blurred backgrounds. For silent and fast AF, it features a rear focus system and ring USM, and can be manually focused even when in AF mode. The EF 11-24mm f/4L USM is durable and rugged due to its highly dust resistant design, so it is prepared for shooting in different environments. It also has fluorine coatings on the front and rear elements for reducing smears and fingerprints. With a compact design, the EF 11-24mm f/4L USM is a must-have lens for photographers that demand excellent performance for truly expressive images anywhere.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent lens for exterior photographyArchitectural photographer. Lens performance is excellent for exteriors. However interior photography with longer exposures especially with led light sources in ceiling and walls, ghosting is very apparent with this lens and hard to correct.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great lens!I'm a Architectural photographer and this is perfect! The only issue i've had was shooting very larger rooms wide open, sometimes I have to zoom in on post processing. I love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great lensI do architectural photography had I had been using this lens for over three weeks in difference jobs. This lens it is outstanding the optic quality, the excellent construction and the wide coverage at 11mm aloud to take photos that before were not possible unless a panoramic was done.Any distortion is minor in comparison with other lenses the 16-35 or the 17-40 and much better chromatic aberration control. The lens is heavy but do not bother me I always use a tripod. It is pricy but you get what you pay for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great LensI have been doing virtual tours for a local real estate agent for the past 3 or 4 years. I started with the original EOS 5D and a Canon EF 17-40mm, f/4L lens, and soon upgraded the camera body to the 5D Mk lll. I continued to use the same 17-40 lens. The problem with the 17 x 40 lens was that most of the time I had to stitch 2 shots together to show rooms in their entirety. This was time consuming, and even using PhotoShop to stitch the pictures, distortion was almost always present.I hesitated at first when I saw that this new lens was finally being released, I have to admit the price was what was holding me back, as well as the fact that there were no reviews available to get feed back from other buyers. I finally decided to take a chance and I ordered the lens.I've only had it for a couple of weeks now, and in that time I've used it to do virtual tours on two properties.......Long story short, I'm blown away. The pictures it takes are great! The only negative thing I have to say about it other than the cost is it's weight.......I won't be using it very much with the neck strap, bottom line is.......I love it.......

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Architectural PhotographyThis 11-24 has really helped my business in commercial real estate. Our marketing materials really pop and we can show our properties as though the client was standing there. We have sold and leased several properties because of the impact given from the 11-24.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best wide able zoom ever!I own the Canon 16-35 f/2.8 along with the Canon 16-35 f/4….. and also the Canon 14mm f/2.8.I have been waiting for the new Canon 11-24 for about as long as I can remember as I love photographing wide-angleall over the world, being a travel photographer. The new 11-24 is just about as sharp as the incredible 16-35 f/4 and it is the most beautiful piece of glassthat I have ever used in my life. It is big and heavy, but it almost doesn't matter as you know that you have one amazing lensin your hand and there is nothing to describe the images that it takes. At 11 mm, it is absolutely astonishing. sharp from corner to corner, no chromatic aberration at all, and almost no vignettingexcept possibly a little at wide open. I have been waiting for this lens for as long as I can remember and Canon has totally delivered. There is nothing like it on the market and the photographs just blow me away. I have done thorough testing with itagainst every other Canon wide angle that I have, and it is in a class by itself!Thank you Canon making the most beautiful wide-angle zoom lens any of us have ever seen!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing LensBought this 3 months ago and I have used it extensively, both on land and underwater. The lens is used with my 6d Mk III and pictures I’ve taken are outstanding. Yes, it is expensive. Yes, it is heavy. That being said, the quality of the images even at the edges are crisp, with less than expected distortion. If you have the budget I would highly recommend this lens if you are looking for a wide angle lens.
