The Advanced Multi-Probe supports up to 64 network interfaces concurrently. These interfaces can be of the same topology (i.e. multiple Ethernets) or of mixed topology (i.e. concurrent wired and wireless in one system). You no longer need to purchase a separate system to monitor wired and wireless networks - with one device you can do both. Sometimes resolving a remote issue requires a group effort. With problem solving collaboration, administrators can view the same data in real-time as if they were in the same room. With the Advanced Multi-Probe multiple users can access the same interface (up to 64 sessions) for data review and analysis.

Advanced Multi-Probes offer multiple login levels, allowing an administrator to define users or groups and what access is available to each (i.e. capture/decode, statistics, trending, memory management, etc.). The Advanced Multi-Probe can report to up to 64 different Observer consoles at one time. However, password protection ensures remote network data is only shared with consoles you authorize. Since different networks require different levels of security, Advanced Multi-Probes offer a variety of options for strong (3DES) and weak encryption for the Probe-to-Console communication. When gathering real-time statistics, the Advanced Multi-Probe consumes very few system resources. Additionally, the Advanced Multi-Probe keeps network traffic to a minimum with as few as two to three 64 byte packets per minute. In Packet Capture mode, Probes collect packets in a local buffer, compress and encrypt the buffer and then transfer captured packets to the Observer console only on demand.

The Advanced Multi-Probe can be configured to collect trending data, perform captures and collect statistics completely unattended - no connection to an Observer console is required. Collected information can later by downloaded and viewed in an Observer console. This is often used to keep a historical baseline of network or switch conditions, or troll for a problem on a remote site without generating a connection or unneeded network traffic. Use the Web-based snapshot for a quick view of remote network conditions from any browser. The snapshot is updated continuously with current information and provides easy access to data when the Observer console is not installed or unavailable.
