Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Customer Service I needed a replacement battery for a 19-year old APC backup system for my desktop computer. The model I had was long discontinued and the battery to be replaced was 12 years old. I do 99% of computing on my phone so I saw no need for a newer model. The agent with whom I did an on-line chat was able to direct me to the battery pack I needed and was also quick to suggest other options (like get an updated APC unit). I decided the replacement battery was still the best option for my need. The replacement was ordered and arrived quickly. Problem solved and returning the old battery (by UPS post paid) was also a simple process by printing the return UPS label and postage. Thanks for great service!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Your recommended battery replacement does not fit The battery you recommended is too wide by about 0.25 inch and too tall by about 0.4 inch to fit the UPC case. Consequently, I have taken a saw to the plastic case to remove some of the internal obstructions in the case so the battery will at least fit the opening. The lid still won't fit, but I can live with that.

It's great that replacement batteries are available AND that APC supports recycling of the old batteries. The weakness in the system is the arduous process of identifying the correct replacement battery.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Critical The battery is fine but you don't give battery voltages on any of your battery documentation or on the battery for that matter. The user needs that info to see if the battery is weakening or going bad or if the unit system itself is bad.

Until I started using the APC protection I had to replace several hard drives, printers, monitors and motherboards due to them being hit by the power off and on. Sometimes it would do it 3 or 4 times in a row killing my eletronics big time. The APC has saved me not only money to replace these things but also the loss of important data time and back aches. I am 71 and crawling around under the desk gets to me these days. I would recmmend this product in a heart beat.

I know you need to keep your margins and profit, but next time I would prefer to buy the same product cheaper right from the manufacturer...

My experience over the years dealing with this at work and at home, is that there is huge variability in quality. Going with APC gets you the quality. And the easy to use recycling program has the old ones heading back for recycling quickly and free of charge.

I have purchased from other than APC and have suffered a dismal result. Will never purchase from either of them when in need of a RBC, even had a fake RBC put together with even APC stickers. You can even purchase stickers that go on the RBC's go figure. Have been purchasing thru APC ever since getting bit in the rear a few too many times. Lessons learned.

When we initially started using UPS backups for our 10 computers, we bought a mix of brands, In general APC has outlasted all of them in terms of battery life and whole unit function, and when the batteries inside finally reached the end of their lifespan, only APC had an accessable battery replacement & recycling program. The others were not user serviceable at all. The competition is all gone now, they were replaced with APC products using your recycling program, also we have only had to replace batteries for about 4 APC units in the seven years since we've been using UPS backups for our computers & electronics.

Is there a procedure to charge the battery? Is there a procedure to reset the alarm? I may never know...

I also expected (as in the past) to find the label and prepaid postage needed to return the spent battery, but you have changed your program and I now have the choice to go to the recycling center or trash it; not a good choice for most. Suggets you reinstate the return policy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not Recognized I followed the instructions enclosed with the replacement battery, but the battery alarm keeps going off telling me to replace the battery. I am assuming the unit itself is bad. I recommend you buy a completely new unit and not just a replacement battery. Perhaps buying a replacement battery is better with the more expensive UPC systems. With this version, it isn't worth it. Just replace the whole thing!

This last one came with a free shipping deal and we've been VERY pleased with both purchases. The only difficulty I had was ordering this last one online and getting their advertised shipping offer. I had to go through their phone system and it even took their representative some "bypassing" to make it work. so the MERCHANDISE is wonderful. The website functionality needs some work!

I had to buy a new one from the local store since this was purchased specifically for a scheduled I.T. event with new equipment for server accessory equipment back-ups. I am too busy with my work load to attempt to resolve this with APC online for a refund and basically resolved my situation by resorting to purchasing a new APC back-ups locally from another vendor. I realize time has transpired in posting this review since the unit was ordered and failed but the outcome remained one I thought should be shared. I will only purchase new APC units go forward.
