APC 12-Outlet 2 USB Surge Protector, 6ft Cord 2160 Joules, Black is rated 4.85 out of 5 by 27.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good product First, I want to note APC's great industry reputation and the warranty and connected equipment protection. That's the minimum for me when it comes to surge protectors. And it does have outlets with large spaces to accommodate power cords with bricks on the end. But I wish that there was one surge protector that combined features from this one and the other I received, the P8. This one had a 90 degree angle on the power plug which allows me to put it behind a cabinet. I wish the advertising and box label noted this because this feature is often not present and one that has vexed me no end over the years. This one also has two USB charging outlets which can be helpful depending on where the unit is placed. But compared to the P8, it has a lower joule number and an "EPP Protection" of 1/2 the amount. It also has no sliders for unused power outlets and to me the power switch is not as well placed as the P8. If there was a product that combined the best features of this unit with the best features of the P8, I'd give it 5 stars and call it a home run. As it is, I still recommend it over the P8 for those who need the 90 degree plug or perhaps the USB outlets and/or the larger number of outlets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Unit For Home Use The APC PH12U2 is a solid surge protector. We recently had company for a few days so we set this up in the guest bedroom. Our guest was able to plug in all his electrical devices and could charge his phone through one of the 2 USB ports on the strip. Everything worked flawlessly. So, why am I giving it only 4 stars?? 1. Unlike the APC P8 surge protector you can’t lock plugs you are not using. 2. The cord is only 6 feet long. An 8 ft. long cord would be nice. 3. I would have liked to see the power switch either more recessed or placed in a position like the P8 where it can not accidentally be shut off. Overall, this is a great surge protector. Highly recommended!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from get this! :) I'm in an area that gets lots of storms, so several power surges can happen in a single day. Or I can go for months without seeing one. At the moment my most expensive and most used electronics are being charged on this SurgeArrest strip, so if it fails to provide surge protection there will be an angry update to this review. So far, though, there have been no problems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Design Since plugging in my computer-related components; I haven't yet experienced a power surge. At least not that I'm aware of. Regardless - the first thing I noticed about this APC Surge Protector is the design. I really like that it has a flat surface (easy to keep clean), and how about those two USB Charging Ports - what an original idea. Twelve Outlets is quire generous. I live totally off-grid, and appreciate the technology that will keep my equipment safe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple but good surge protection Has plenty of outlets for your devices with some of the plugs spaced for larger plugs. Includes USB charging ports but lacks ethernet and phone protection. Still very much worth it for the money. Great device!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best gift given. The 12 plug system is used to power my laptop, printer, both modems, my backup document recorder. It is plugged into my APC battery powered system in case we loose power to our home.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect under a college student's or really any de My first thought upon seeing the SurgeArrest PH12U2 was that it would be great under my desk, replacing my 2 power strips. But then my daughter took it with her, when she headed off to her last semester at college. It's perfect in the typical dorm room. In my case at my desk I need to power a home desktop, a work laptop, desk lamp, multiple monitors, a printer, speakers, etc. This unit can handle them all. Plus, it has a couple of USB ports for charging my phone charged and my portable USB power pack. I feel good know that all my stuff is protected from power surges. The 12 outlets are oriented 7 in-line and 5 perpendicular. Two of the 5 perpendicular are spaced for large power adapters. In total, I was able to plug in 3 large power adapters, plus 2 medium-sized power adapters without blocking other outlets. The 2 USB ports are rated to charge at a full 2.4 amps. I tested them, and indeed they charged both a phone and a power-hungry tablet at their full rate. (I've had problems with other USB charges being able to supply full power to the tablet.) The wall plug is flat, so that it won't block furniture being pushed up against the wall. Plus, the cord comes out from the plug at an angle, so that it doesn't block the other wall outlet. Since I had wall-mounted my old power strips, I appreciated that there are openings on the back of the unit itself that allow wall mounting either horizontally or vertically. There is a power switch, which controls power to all the outlets. A light indicates, when the switch is on. A second light indicates that the ground connection of the wall outlet is wired properly. (A proper ground is required for the surge protection to work. There was one time I actually found incorrect building wiring with such a light.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Home Office SurgeArrest I received the Home Office SurgeArrest at the same time my wife and I picked up our new RV. We didn't know how few outlets were available until we started to use it so it obvious where the SurgeArrests was going to go. We used it in the bedroom which proved to be a great location, using the usb charging ports for our phones at night. Didn't occur to us after we plugged a few items into it that it also offered great protection from the instant power delivered plugging in the shore-power cord or when the generator kicked in. A must for boats and RV's.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works like a champ This month (so far) my electrical utility - Rocky Mountain Power - has experienced three power outages. Each outage starts with a brown-out followed by a spike on restart. I use the APC Home Office SurgeArrest to protect my computers, my appliaces (most of which have imbedded computers) and other devices that requires spike protection. I have experiences no product failures caused by poor power provided by my utility. The APC Home Office SurgeArrest works like a CHAMP!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product that takes care of my needs This device has an amazing number of outlets - 10 outlets for small plugs and 2 outlets for larger plugs. It also has 2 outlets for USB connectors. With the 6 foot power cord, it can be used most anywheres but I do wish an option would be to have a longer plug. Some times, power sources are another wall away and an extension cord needs to be used to reach it. It has adequate surge/arrest protection for most instances (2160 Joules).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SurgeArrest 12 Outlets with 2 USB Charging Ports I'm using this SurgeArrest on my home theater equipment so have nicely spaced outlets to accommodate the block plugins is a good feature. It includes two fast USB charging ports so I can charge my phone while watching TV. The highly legible and attractive “protected” and “grounded” lights are a nice feature.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good with one oversite A good solidly built unit. The sockets are not too stiff, so you are not fighting to get the plugs in. The only downside is the spacing on one side for power blocks having only 2 spaced out enough that no sockets are blocked, of course with 12 sockets in total, this may not be an issue. Having the 2 USB charging ports helps to limit the number of power blocks I need to use. For myself this unit serves all my needs quite well, but some may have an issue if they have a large number of power blocks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More than ample surge protection This 12 outlet surge protector is more than enough anyone would need. The spacing for some of the outlets is tight when dealing with the oversized transformer plug ins. The two USB charging ports make this a bonus surge arrest protector.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A solid product I waited a while to write this review to give it some time in use. That being said; I could tell this was a well constructed product right out of the box. From the heavy duty cord to the placement of the plugs plus having indicator lights and a solid feeling on/off switch.. The plugs fit tight and sercure in the unit. You can plug several transformers into it without having to use those 1 foot extensions. This is not a drug store type unit. . I feel comfortable enough to use it for my stereo and a/v equipment. An added benefit is the charging ports which it seems you can never have too many

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Needed a new power strip I needed a new power strip and thanks to Amazon there is a lot of garbage companies selling items that may end up burning down your house one day. I prefer to stick with quality and APC is the epitome of quality. This 12 outlet strip is awesome. The way they set up the connections is perfect and allows you to plug in all of your AV equipment without having to daisy chain another power strip to it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product! Sleek design and sturdy. The back of the power strip has two recesses so it can be mounted to a wall either vertically or horizontally. Two of the twelve outlets allow you to plug in those bulky A/C adapters...with plenty of room to spare. You could plug in more than two, but it would start blocking the other outlets. Each outlet is tight and secure upon plugging something in. I've bought several other brands that were loose upon plugging something in and allowed the plug to move. That's not safe to me. The wall plugin is flat and allows the thick power cord to lay flush with the wall. That, in itself, is huge in my book. The ground and protection LEDs are very bright and are able to be seen at nearly every angle. No more walking over it to see if you're protected. This particular unit even has two USB ports for charging and protecting your cell phone or tablet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Kitchen or bedroom TV & charger Installed it for my bedroom TV, DVD, cable connection. The USB means no extra - odd shaped - adapters for charging phones. The black color is less noticeable also. There are enough outlets for a media center if you didn't want to go with a UPS.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable as the sun coming up! Super product APC always seems to keep the future in mind when manufacturing products. They have added 2 USB ports to their Surge Arrest product, which is incredibly handy. I am always looking for USB power and this power strip with surge is a great product to protect my electronics. You cannot go wrong by buying APC products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from USB A plus Pros: This 12 outlet surge protector has a 7 plus 5 outlet configuration, the 5 side allows more space for transformers. 2160 Joules rating. The USB outlets are a great feature, 2.4 amps maximum should work on most devices. The 6 foot power cord 's plug is flat topped and to the right. Indicator lights for the ground and surge protection let you know at a glance if the unit is working properly. Good to know that there is a lifetime warranty of the surge protector and a $150,000 connected equipment warranty. APC has great support and customer service from my past experiences. Cons: No protection for ethernet or telephone connections. APC does have units with those features. You have to push hard to seat the plugs, likely will get easier with use. Power cord is a bit stiff.
