I learned that if you want a printer to print front to back it needs to have the words duplexing or in this case the model needed to be 'dn' I returned this printer for the 'dn' model, and it is a great printer.

I received it as a free sample to use for this review but would recommend it to my friends for purchase. It prints like a champ, with super sharp text. It's crazy fast, which is perfect for getting stuff done quickly. Setting it up was a piece of cake once I found the cable needed. It does not include a set up cable so I did have to purchase one (ethernet to USB-C for my specific laptop). Bottom line: If you need a reliable, top-quality printer that won't break the bank, the HP LaserJet 4001N is the way to go. It's made my printing life a breeze!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High Quality Laser Printer I received this printer to review. I was a little confused during the set up process. It mentioned plugging in my USB cord from the printer to the computer. I kept looking for it in the packaging but couldn’t find it. I then went rummaging through my “cord drawer” and found one that fit. Other then that hiccup, set up was easy. I had previously had color printers but realized I hardly used color when printing. By the time I would use the color, the inkjets would be clogged and I’d have to buy new toner. I also wasn’t using other feature that often come with printers such as scanning. I was tired of typical tone printers because when the ink got low, the printout would be barely legible. A black and white laser printer is exactly what I needed. Compared to my previous printer, this one is a little more bulky and weights a little more. It would take up too much room on my desk, so I put it on a shelf under my desk. Comparing the price to the last printer I bought, this one was about $125 more than my last one I bought. I would feel comfortable paying more knowing the quality products HP is known for. If you have simple printing needs for personal use with high quality copies, this printer should be a top contender.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Printer for Home and Small Business I have always used HP Printers and have found that they are always reliable. The HP LaserJet Pro 4001n is no different. Fast set up had me up and running within about 10 minutes. I chose to connect it via ethernet so everyone on the network could share it. Print quality is excellent, with crisp looking black and white printing. I print shipping labels on a regular basis, and I was able to print 40 in about a minute. The added HP Wolf Pro Security is ideal for security and keeping sensitive documents secure. I also like the HP Smart App, which lets me know when my toner is running low. It also has the ability to print from your phone or tablet as well, which is a plus for me. If you are looking for a fast, convenient, and secure printer, I would highly recommend the HP LaserJet Pro 4001n for any home or small business. It definitely gets the job done.

The instructions were easy to follow and it comes with some ink already so I don't have to rush out and buy some right away. However, you could only print by USB or ethernet and it doesn't come with either of those cords. I will have to wait until I can get the cords to test out the actual printing quality of the printer.

Very impress little printer it's light weight only like 19 pounds which I can handle it myself, I love this laserjet printer knowing it will help me save alot of money on ink and toners. The size is reasonable. My home's decor complements the color of the printer really nicely. Everything about it is fine except that. One drawback is that it isn't scanned. I adore the ease with which many options, such as notebook paper and graphic paper, may be printed. Selecting the many items you could add and print from the app was simple, as was using it. The print has a very high caliber, expert finish.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good working printer THE PRINTER WAS EASY TO SET UP. remove the packaging materials and turn it on. (I tend to not print out the alignment sheet because it burns through the color ink). The printer has a cycling glowing purple light and it sleeps in a low blue light with a green light on the side. I just turn the printer off when not in use. It has a button for color copies and a button for black and white copies. A cancel button, and an info button--no display, it's very basic. Print quality is much better than expected. print speed also better than expected. I will say the spooling time is significantly shorter than I'm used too (big win). It's a bit on the loud side if you have a home office like me, but not so much so that it wrecks my day. on that note the quiet mode in the settings did help with that.

Tech support still cannot figure out how to get the screen to work and how to get symbols to stop flashing. Printer works but for the money you spend on these things it shouldn't be this difficult to get them functioning properly

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for my Home Office The HP LaserJet Pro 4001n is a great home office printer. HP is my go to for all things electronic and has been for years. I trust the company, and love their products. Having the option of a laser printer makes me able to do even more with my home business. Setup was easy, and it was ready to use quickly. The print quality was amazing and a lot cleaner to read than I was used. The print speed of the LaserJet Pro was outstanding. I'm so used to hitting print, and sitting around for a minute waiting for the page to come out. This one, I tapped the print button, and boom, the page was ready. I don't think I've ever used a laser printer that was this fast. Very impressed!! One drawback that I didn't see prior to ordering was that it's not wifi enabled, and only USB or ethernet. I have my printer area on a whole other side of the room and don't have a way to hook them up via cable, usually. I had to purchase an extra long USB to be able to use this, and am not able to have it hooked up all of the time. It doesn't matter, since this is used for special projects, etc. and can be plugged in quickly and simply. Being HP brand, we knew this was one we could really count on for getting the job done quick and easy. The set up was easy and it connected to our WIFI really fast. The print quality is second to none. Even when printing graphs with very small text, it comes out crystal clear. This 4001Nn printer can print up to 42 pages per minute, so you have an idea just how fast this machine is. I really like the 250 page paper tray. We can print so much more now in between paper refills. This is the first printer I have had that has a mobile app. The app was easy to set up and is very handy. Having the HP Instant Ink program available ensures that we never run out of ink. The cartridges are automatically shipped as scheduled. Over all, this is a great printer.

I would recommend this product as the print quality and speed is great, without it being huge. However, when trying to setup the printer wirelessly, I selected the wrong button and could not for the life of me figure out how to switch back. Truth be told, I didn't take the time to try to google it, instead, I found an old cable that I could connect directly to my computer (one isn't included, which was kind of a bummer). After plugging directly into the computer, it works great and is simple to use. I am only 1 person working in my home office. If more people needed to use this printer, it would take more time to figure out how to get it to work wirelessly (but maybe more heads could figure it out better than just me!) As mentioned, I would buy this product and would recommend to family and friends, but it would be nice if there was a bit more information provided in the box itself.

It is able to function straight out of the box and was easy to install, once I realized it was not wireless. The print quality of this machine is great and it is compact enough to fit perfectly in my small kitchen office. No issues other it needs to be wired to my PC. I also love the instant ink feature, I’ve used this and the HP smart app on my previous HP printers. Huge a bonus for someone that forgets to purchase ink. I should mention I received this product free to use for an honest review.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Right balance of quality and price The first minor annoyance is that it doesn't come with the USB cable needed to complete setup, so you'll have to scramble to find one. The actual setup is fairly easy, and the quality and speed of printing are very good. The printer is also much quieter than its counterparts, and also has a good sized print tray all of which make for a very good overall experience. The extra ink is an added bonus so you won't be spending money on print supplies for a few weeks.

It was easy to unbox and set up. It came with the power cord and instructions. The drivers and software can easily be downloaded from the HP support website. I happened to have a USB-A to USB-B 2.0 cable to connect it to my computer. Once installed, it is easy to send a print job and print. It prints black and white and processes jobs very fast. There is not much delay between clicking print and having a finished job on the printer. I like how it's not too big or bulky and it's easy to carry or move. It seems fairly economical with toner preservation, so I anticipate doing a lot of printing before having to replace the toner. I'm hoping to use the printer for a very long time.

The printer is a very good, sharp, and fast printer. I like it and it works very well. The only issue that I can really say about is that the instruction manual is not much more than a piece of paper, and it doesnt tell you much about how to hook up and operate the printer. As I have used printers I was familiar but a novice would not understand. The 1st paper drawer seems to be a little difficult to use but overall it is a really good device and for black and white is clear and sharp.

It has a large paper tray which will hold an entire ream of paper. I like the fact that the bypass tray is in the front of the printer. It makes it much easier to access than a rear access bypass. It is not a wireless printer however, so if that is important to you, you might want to look at the next level up. It wasn't important to me. Just plug it in and go. Very easy to set up.

The paper trays hold quite a lot of paper. However, I am not impressed with this printer as it took forever to set up wirelessly which was frustrating. The IP address displayed on the control did not match to allow for easy setup. The HP Smart Wizard was of not help whatsoever. I would have loved if they had included the cables as part of the package with the printer as an option.

The ink is very clear and also that it should last me awhile before replacing but we shall see how long. The only down fall is that it’s only black and white no double sided print. Not a wireless printer but I can still print from my phone from the app, so somewhat wireless.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Printer, Lacks Wifi Connectivity Nice looking compact printer with LAN and USB inputs. I printed few pages and they were all excellent with good clarity and sharpness. Also I have never owned any LaserJet printer and was pleasantly surprised to see the speed at it which it prints which is much faster than Inkjet printers. Setting up this printer was quick with on screen options that you can choose from. It has 2 trays in the front and the bottom tray has a nice design; you can pull it out from the front to load paper and from the back of the printer it can extend out in case if you have large size (longer) pages which is something I have never seen in any printer. Love this design on a compact printer. What could be improved with the printer is that it doesnt have Wifi capability and with the new routers nowadays there arent many LAN ports available, hence enabling Wifi as a standard for all printers will be nice. The other thing is that in the absence of LAN connection at home, USB is the only way out and this printer has a special USB port but USB cable is not provided with the printer. It would be nice to go with standard USB-C port so that we can use one of the existing mobile phone USB cables. I have tried other brands of printers in the past and HP is the most reliable in printers and lasts for many years.

It is intuitive, and performs exactly as you would expect. It is wifi & PC compatible. There is not a thing to complain about this printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I like this printer I like this printer it works great. The only thing that I didn't like was you have to have it plugged into the Internet to connect to it. It prints fast. Had a hard time connecting to the Internet it doesn't like to connect we had to mess with the settings and fix them to connect to print. It only prints in black and white. It has lots of ink which I love. The prints come out really nice looking. My family has been looking for a printer. My kids love coloring pages. My husband has to print things for work. I have to print things for work. We do so much printing. I struggled setting this printer up it wouldn't detect the printer. My husband messed around for a long time getting this going but it's well worth the print quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HP LaserPro 4001n This printer is very easy to set up and use. I literally just plugged it in and started to print. I was a bit confused on where the ink was but ink was included. I also thought this printer was color (sad once I found out it’s black and white). Other than that it’s a great easy to use everyday printer. It prints very quickly and it awakes from sleep mode also fast. The print quality is amazing! This is a perfect printer for a small business space as it prints 12 pages in about a minute. It isn't a wireless printer fully. You would need to use the Ethernet cable for wifi capabilities. But I truly recommend for any small business or educator who need copies in bulk.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lighting fast I had a older printer that took probably 5 minutes to print something off and this new printer is lighting fast. Setup was pretty easy to do and quick. And it looks great sitting in my dining room. I sell alot of stuff so I mainly need it to print off tables however I print off a variety of things and it works amazing and like I said before extremely fast. I love that it has two print off points and is easy to load.

The HP printer is really good at printing speeds, and easy setup. The HP 4001n is capable of high-volume printing, up to 4,000 pages monthly. Comes with HP’s original toner cartridge that able to print up to 2900 pages. Some things to note before purchasing are: No Wi-Fi built-in. The printer connects to USB and Ethernet only. Laser toner cartridges may be more expensive; however, they last much longer depending on print output. This printer is perfect for a small team that requires black and white printing at high volumes. Perfect budget conscious printer that can produce high quality black and white prints.

This was a great addition to my home office and to replace my worn out printer I found it to be fast and quite and the quality of the print was great.Having a ink jet was becoming expensive to use also the size of the tray and the amount of prints means I will be going to the office supply store less often. I would definitely recommend this printer. I also found using the HP app on my phone was super easy to use and the printing was very quite

I love having two paper trays, and the ability to load the large one with a good number of sheets. On the minus side, it is noisier than the 1020 and slower in getting ready: it takes about 18 seconds for the printing to start.

For simple office use, this printer is perfect. However, If you are looking for a printer that you can do wireless printing with, this is not the printer for you. I didn't think this would be a deal breaker, but I definitely prefer wireless printing with my busy lifestyle.

I enjoy that it is not crazy loud because as a WFH mom sometimes my son is asleep while I am working and I am usually scared to use the printer in fear of waking him up. I love that I am also able to get great colors prints done as well. From box to desk and that is a win in my mind!

The printer connects easily via USB and Ethernet, providing stable and reliable connections. Although I miss the wireless connectivity, the wired connection has proven to be convenient enough. This printer is definitely a high performance printer that I would recommend to anyone in the Market for one! I love the lcd screen it has. Definitely a high speed printer that every office or home should have. The only complaint I have is you have to use cartridges that have a hp chip in them it will not work if not. Other then that it seems to be a awesome printer so far! Keep on printing!!!!

To change the toner is also very easy as it just slides out and you can just install by sliding in. The toner last a while and it is of good quality. I like that it does not make that much noise and that it prints pretty quick. This is definitely a printer for everyday use.

It prints quickly and seems to be pretty efficient so far as far as toner goes. The quality of the prints exceeds my expectations. Everything shows up very clearly and easy to read. The SmartApp is really cool as it allows you to print things from your phone, which I find incredibly useful. I really love this printer! Would definitely recommend!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than expected.. I am a die-hard HP fan and I always will be. I have never had a printer of this caliber ever. I never even looked further down the line past the basic printers. I am glad I got this one I did. When I do print business things, I like the way that this works. It's not noisy but you know it's working. It prints really fast and I like how the paper comes out on the top. I have worked with bigger printers before where you add the paper at the bottom and it works just like this one, but I have not personally had one for myself. I am really excited about this printer. It is the perfect size for a small business. I don't print very often and this is perfect for me, and my small business, and with me being a college student as well this comes in handy when I do have to print. This is a great bye for personal use as well as a small business. It all depends on how much you are printing and your needs for print. A definite must have printer!
