One switch, many applications - voice-over-IP, WLANs, traditional wired connections
The Summit 300-48 is the industry's most versatile fixed configuration switch for the integrated network edge. With comprehensive support for wireless networks and Power over Ethernet (PoE), the Summit 300-48 delivers a single "unified" infrastructure that simplifies the installation and operation of wired and wireless applications. Using AccessAdapt, enterprises can enjoy streamlined, one stop configuration of the entire wireless LAN (WLAN) infrastructure. What's more, wired and wireless users alike can enjoy the benefits of seamless, centralized network management using EPICenter® and the unparalleled network operation with ExtremeWare®.
Increasingly, the network edge must be capable of supporting voice, simple devices, and wireless network connectivity. Extreme Networks® created the award-winning Summit 300-48 to meet the challenge of the expanding variety of edge applications and devices. The switch centralizes high-value services such as management, Quality of Service (QoS), and mobility. Application specific tasks such as encryption, wireless and voice are implemented with standards-compliant, specialized hardware, such as Extreme's Altitude 300™ wireless port for WLANs or Avaya's 4600 series IP handsets. The result is a versatile, no-compromise solution that sets the standard for security, manageability, performance, and ease of use.
Features:
• One switch, many applications - voice-over-IP, WLANs, traditional wired connections
• Supports popular IP telephones - tested interoperability with Avaya, Siemens, Cisco
• Core to edge QoS integration - DiffServ/802.1p marking for voice and video applications
• Right-sized bandwidth delivery - per-user rate limiting based on Layer 2/Layer 3/Layer 4 criteria with broadcast/multicast throttling
• Networks that adapt to users and locations - dynamic network configuration and access policies based on service location
• Flexible port-based authentication - port control based on 802.1x, browser-based login, or MAC addresses
• Robust access control - with access control lists based on Layer 2/Layer 3/Layer 4 parameters and after-hours edge device power down
• 48 edge ports of powered 10/100BASE-T ports for IP phones and wireless and 4 uplink ports of fiber or copper gigabit Ethernet
• One-stop configuration - AccessAdapt technology provides centralized, system-wide configuration and software delivery to Altitude 300 wireless ports One-stop configuration - AccessAdapt technology provides centralized, system-wide configuration and software delivery to Altitude 300 wireless ports
• Plenty of power - support all 48 edge ports with up to 480 Watts of 802.3af-compliant power
• Extremely fast - full wire speed switching on every port so the switch never creates a bottleneck
• Dual hot-swappable power supplies - keep your network running and provide ample PoE power
• Graceful failover - per-port PoE management keeps critical ports running in event of power supply failure
