Perfect for everything from doing your homework to playing games, and from watching DVD movies to burning your own music CDs, the 4.9-pound iBook G4 fits snugly in your backpack — and your life.

When Apple set out to redesign the iBook G4 from the inside out, one of the key design goals was to create a lightweight notebook computer tough enough to stand up to the rigors of life on the go. Because, from the standpoint of a laptop, the inside of a backpack can be a rather bumpy place. And yet you shouldn’t have to walk softly just because you’re carrying the world’s most appealing notebook.

So Apple made the iBook’s sleek case out of impact-resistant polycarbonate plastic. That would ordinarily be sufficient to survive everyday use and abuse, but we took the idea of protection even further. Inside, a sturdy magnesium frame provides superior strength, while reducing the iBook’s weight to well below that of other full-featured PC notebooks. We even rubber-mounted the hard disk drive for added bump tolerance, so you can store all of your digital goodies on your iBook and still enjoy peace of mind. Additionally, the iBook has no I/O doors, protruding elements — and no tray, either — to break or snap off when tucking it into a backpack or briefcase.

Enjoy the digital lifestyle
You’ll never run out of cool things you can do with your iBook. Pop open the lid and you’ll find everything you need to surf the Internet, create cool websites, share photos, build a music library, edit video movies, send and receive emails, solve math problems, write reports and more. Since all retail iBook models come with a Combo drive (DVD-ROM/CD-RW), you can burn your own music CDs.

iLife. Suddenly, it all connects
The iLife application suite, which includes iTunes, iPhoto and iMovie, lets you do fun, creative things with your pictures, music and movies — and share them with family and friends — in ways that PC users can only dream about. And whether you’re creating your own music CDs, publishing your digital pictures online or editing digital video, you can do all these things and many others, besides — intuitively, without referring to a manual. It’s all part of the iLife experience.
