Know your gear

BlackBerry is the leading wireless solution for corporate environments. It's the only totally integrated package that includes desktop tools, server software, multi-network support and wireless handhelds, providing a complete, end-to-end solution.

BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 3.6 for Microsoft Exchange offers many enhancements to both enterprise-based BlackBerry handheld users and the IT department responsible for deploying, upgrading, and managing the solution.

With BlackBerry Enterprise Server v3.6, corporate data can now be pushed out to handhelds in addition to email and calendar information.

The updated BlackBerry Enterprise Server Management console improves the administration experience for BlackBerry Enterprise Server. BlackBerry administrators can now implement IT policies wirelessly and run up to four instances of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server software on a physical server.

BlackBerry Enterprise Server enables IT departments to set security policy files with group specific settings on BlackBerry handhelds and desktop software. IT can wirelessly invoke security policies such as handheld passwords and also send wireless commands to lock or erase handheld data.

With BlackBerry Enterprise Server v3.6, BlackBerry users can now benefit from two-way wireless synchronization of email messages, including support for read/unread status, deletions and filing.

BlackBerry Enterprise Server v3.6 allows users to view attachments on their handhelds, with support for a variety of file formats such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, WordPerfect, Adobe PDF and ASCII text.

The Mobile Data Service (MDS) feature included with BlackBerry Enterprise Server enables always-on / push-based access to enterprise applications and information using the BlackBerry handheld, browser and software development tools.
