Microphone coverage will be adequate up to 15 feet away - for best performance users should be within 10 feet of the unit. This range can be expanded with the use of the optional satellite microphones. These can be purchased separately in pairs. The cord length on the satellite microphones is 7 ft . The microphones are directional with the side where the cord connects being the least sensitive in terms of microphone pickup. Typically this side will face the phone unit itself so that the "front" of the microphone points to the ends of a typical long conference room table. Satellite microphones provide a Mute function. A single satellite microphone can be used with the phone. The microphone array is comprised of 6 elements in total - 5 pick up the signal in the horizontal plane and one in the vertical direction. The latter allows for noise rejection from overhead noise sources like HVAC systems.
