The WiSpan™ wireless bridge from Lantronix gives virtually any piece of electronic equipment with an Ethernet port industry-standard wireless 802.11 b/g connectivity – quickly and easily! Its built-in IEEE 802.11i-compliant security ensures data privacy and integrity, and it features a rugged design and wide temperature range to easily handle harsh environments.
Part of the DeviceLinx™ family of products which connect peripheral electronic devices to a network or the Internet enabling them to be remotely accessed, monitored and controlled, WiSpan enables virtually any electronic device with an Ethernet port to be networked over a wireless 802.11 connection. By merging wireless communications with Lantronix device networking technology, WiSpan simplifies connectivity to devices in applications where mobility is required and Ethernet cabling is impractical or expensive.
WiSpan is a turnkey solution that includes the necessary cables, power supply and antenna to rapidly and easily enable industry standard 802.11 b/g wireless connectivity for Ethernet-ready devices. It includes an industry-standard RJ45 10/100 Ethernet port and an 802.11 b/g radio that converts Ethernet data into wireless data. And to enable access to a local network or the Internet, WiSpan integrates a fully developed TCP/IP network stack and OS.
With a ruggedized design and wide operating temperature range (from -40°C to 70°C), it is ideally suited for harsh conditions or environments such as warehouses, factories or on commercial vehicles. Other applications include:

With state-of-the-art IEEE 802.11i/PSK WPA2-Personal compliant security, WiSpan ensures that data transmitted over a wireless connection is protected. It’s also compliant with WPA-PSK security for operation in an infrastructure network that does not support 802.11i/PSK standards.
The WiSpan is specifically designed to make putting your Ethernet equipment on a WiFi network fast and easy. The comprehensive setup menu enables you to configure the wireless settings, server IP settings, bridging settings and other advanced settings that make sense for your particular needs.

Install and configure WiSpan and load firmware
Assign IP and other network-specific addresses
Enable web-based configuration
Allow Telnet communication for configuration
WiSpan can even be remotely reconfigured over a wired IP network. It is given a “static” IP address during its initial configuration. Once this address is implemented, subsequent reconfiguration of the WiSpan’s wireless or wired networking parameters is accomplished simply by attaching it to the corporate wired Ethernet network.
