Black Box® Dual-Speed 10/100 Stackable Hubs combine high-bandwidth 100Mbps network devices with those running at 10Mbps. Each hub provides 16 RJ-45 autosensing ports for 10 or 100Mbps Ethernet, so each port can change speeds as needed to match the speed of a connected device.
Master Hubs include built-in switching that forwards packets between 10 and 100Mbps domains. You only need one Master Hub to support additional Client Hubs in a stack, and you can position the Master Hub at any point in the stack. Unlike Master Hubs, Client Hubs don’t include a bridge module.
You can also stack and use the Client Hubs without a Master Hub:
• If an Ethernet switch is available to interconnect the two speed domains.
• If only 100Mbps devices are connected and the 10Mbps domain is unused, or vice versa.
• If the application requires dual-speed operation with two unconnected and uncoordinated domains.
In addition, the 16-Port Dual-Speed 10/100 Stackable Hubs can be stacked with Mixed-Media Fiber Hubs. The LH8016A-M is compatible with the Mixed-Media 16-Port Add-On Chassis (LH8050A-C), and the LH8016A-C is compatible with all five models of the Mixed-Media 16-Port Base Chassis (LH8050A). (In mixed configurations, your stack must have either a Master Hub or a Base Chassis.)
