Know your gear
The PortServer II high performance communications server allows you to connect clusters of high-speed serial ports to any TCP/IP Ethernet network. It supports asynchronous terminals, modems, printers and other serial devices.
The Digi PortServer II communications server supports all of the PortServer features plus higher performance, configuration expandability from 16 to 64-ports, extensive network management and security features. In addition, the PortServer II supports dial-up and LAN-to-LAN connections for TCP/IP remote access to your corporate LAN or the Internet over analog and frame relay.
The Digi PortServer gives system administrators a new level of control over serial devices through the LAN or WAN. That’s because Digi RealPort® software provides local serial port functionality (Real TTY for UNIX environments) as well as incoming and outgoing Rlogin and Telnet sessions on each port. The Digi RealPort driver provides native COM ports for Microsoft Windows NT and Windows 2000. Plus, Digi provides a tool to configure and monitor serial ports, allowing much greater control of these locally administered, "hardware style" ports.
The versatile PortServer Family can attach any serial device to the LAN. Ideal for console management of server farms, hubs, routers and PBXs, as well as connecting terminals to database applications such as travel reservations and information services, the PortServer Family is also a smart solution for kiosk management applications and small ISPs.
