Tired of being tethered to phone lines and network cables? Ready for the freedom of wireless connectivity in your home or small office? Then you’re ready for Proxim's wireless home and SOHO Networking Solution. This system provides wireless connectivity to Internet service providers, and enables sharing of various computer peripherals from anywhere within your home or small office. Operating in the unlicensed 2.4GHz band, the system can transmit through walls and floors, giving you the freedom to roam up to 150 meters at 11Mbps, indoors or outdoors.
The central device in the home system, the Residential Gateway (RG-1000), is based on WavePOINT-II Access Points with network address translation (NAT) and bridge functionality. It includes a built-in 56K modem that provides Internet access through a regular phone line. RG-1000 also supports an Ethernet® port that allows you to connect to a broadband cable, xDSL, or ISDN modem. The RG-1000 supports the 11Mbps Proxim ORiNOCO PC, as well as other Wi-Fi compliant pc cards.
Easy Plug-and-Play Solution
You don’t need to be an engineer to install our plug-and-play solution. Simply plug in the Proxim ORiNOCO 11Mbps network card, and you’re on your way. Our easy-to-use, browser-like configuration and management tool leads you through the remainder of the RG-1000 installation process. Key to the easy installation of RG-1000 is the NAT router with DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) functionality. Its DHCP function automatically configures an Internet protocol address for users and the NAT router enables multiple users to access a single Internet account via point-to-point (PPP) protocol.
