Quantum Rushmore Ultra Series Solid State Disks (SSDs) are the optimum solution for a growing number of mission-critical applications that demand lightning fast I/O performance. This includes everything from ultra-high-volume transaction processing, RAID subsystems, and data warehousing to video-on-demand and Internet/intranet servers.

Previously, adding system memory was one of the only ways to increase I/O. But with today's high-performance applications, adding more system memory can slow performance by requiring more CPU cycles for memory allocation and management. By providing a dedicated storage unit to offload the added I/O demands, Ultra Series SSDs deliver an optimal solution. Instead of storing data on magnetic disks, Ultra Series SSDs use an array of memory chips. This eliminates the delays that are an inherent part of the hard disks seek time, latency, and settle time. The result is access times less than 50 microseconds, up to 9,000 I/Os per second, and external transfer rates in excess of 30 megabytes (MB) per second.
