Rated 5 out of 5 by from Straightforward to set up and offers reasonable pricing but needs to offer an extended warrenty What is our primary use case? We primarily use the solution for guests. It's a guest network, mainly for mobile devices, however, there's not any specific or technical use for it beyond that. What is most valuable? The price of the solution is excellent. It's not too expensive. The initial setup is pretty straightforward. The solution is stable. It can scale well. It's an excellent option for small businesses. What needs improvement? The external devices, the outdoor devices, are not so rugged. For example, for the weather that we have here in Florida, it doesn't hold up well even though it is supposed to be designed for outdoor use. The cover is not generally strong enough to support the extreme temperatures in Florida. That is one thing that I know that some customers have some problems with. There is only a one-year warranty on the solution and you cannot actually extend it. It would be ideal if it could be longer or extended if possible. For how long have I used the solution? I've been using the solution for the last eight years. It's been a long time now. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution is very stable. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The product can scale well. There's no problem with that. They work like Meraki and the device acts just make a mesh. We have ten people in the organization that use the solution. How are customer service and support? The technical support is really good. One of the things that they have is a one-year warranty. However, you can't extend it. That is something that they should improve. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? We have been using many solutions. We have used SonicPoint in the past and some Linksys options. We added Ubiquiti as we wanted the possibility to add on new devices within the same network and centralize all the devices under the same monitoring solution, under the same console. We also have experience with Aruba and Meraki. How was the initial setup? The solution is very straightforward. It's not overly complex or difficult. We didn't have trouble with the implementation process. The deployment only takes a few hours. This is occasional maintenance that needs to be performed, however, I don't know how often this activity is performed. We do have one of the technicians here that can work with the product in case of any problems. It's not one specific person; it's just one of the technicians. We have some IT specialists and some of them work in the role of support. We have a network engineer, however, the solution that we have here is quite simple. It's not rocket science to see what is happening with the access point. It's pretty low maintenance as a solution in general and is easy to manage. What about the implementation team? We did not use an integrator or consultant. We handled everything in-house. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The solution is very reasonably priced. We like the pricing they offer. There's a good balance between quality and price, as it's not that the product is cheap and bad. In this case, it's a good product at a good price. The product is around $300 or $400 depending on the device. It's a one-time fee. There aren't ongoing licensing costs. What other advice do I have? We're customers and end-users. We are using the latest version of the solution. We just updated it. This is a solution for small businesses. It's not so complex. For an enterprise solution, we always recommend Meraki or Aruba. Our first option is Meraki. If the customer requests a more affordable solution, we recommend Aruba. If it's a small business that doesn't have a budget, we obviously recommend Ubiquiti, however, it's not our first option. I'd rate the solution at a seven out of ten. The price and quality are really good. I'm not an expert in this product, however, from what I have witnessed, it works really well. It's just that you can't extend the warranty more than one year, and to have a product where you can't extend the warranty, it doesn't feel like you have much part support. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? On-premises Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable, secure, and easy to set up What is most valuable? Setting it up wasn't so complicated. It is reliable. Security-wise, we didn't have much trouble, but that could be due to our environment. We haven't had so many attacks, at least up till now. What needs improvement? The range and maybe the quality of the signal can be improved. I had a feeling that the range wasn't long enough. Unfortunately, beyond a certain range, the signal was too weak. If I'm not mistaken, it must have been something like 100 or more than 100 meters, but I'm not sure. So, one improvement I wish for this equipment is to have a longer range, but that could mainly be due to the model we're using. In Ubiquiti NanoStation, we have some problems with the reset button. The way the reset button is placed can be very uncomfortable. We lost some of our access points due to the fact that we eventually damaged the reset button. I would prefer a simpler reset button. There could be a kind of toggle button, but that's a matter of engineering. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using this solution for five to six years. We are working with Ubiquiti NanoStation, but they are relatively old now, so we need to renew our equipment. What do I think about the stability of the solution? It is reliable. How was the initial setup? It wasn't complicated to set it up. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? We don't buy directly. We have our finance department that buys things. My speculation on the price is that because we buy from private companies and because the product is imported, people tend to give us at higher prices. This is due to the fact that it is government procurement. So, sometimes, they are not paid directly, and they have to go through the whole administrative process before they are paid. So, they tend to compensate by increasing the price, but I won't be able to say what is the exact price. What other advice do I have? I would rate Ubiquiti Wireless an eight out of 10. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stable, easy to install, and easy to use What is our primary use case? We deployed it alongside Linksys. The way I'm using it is the way I have used Linksys. We can use it for WLAN deployments and outdoor wireless connectivity. We can use it for wireless hotspots - the long range type. What is most valuable? The management they have the UniFi Controller allows you to manage everything including access from the entrance location from the server. The solution is stable. We have found the product to be scalable. Its server is easy to use. The product is easy to install. What needs improvement? How easy it is to install depends on the knowledge base of the person doing it. It can get a bit technical. I would prefer if the solution offered more integration capabilities. For how long have I used the solution? We've used the solution for more than four years at this point. It's been a while. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution has been stable. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. It's reliable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The scalability is very good. If a company needs to expand it, it can do so. How are customer service and technical support? I've never contacted technical support. I wouldn't be able to comment on how helpful or responsive they are. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? We use the solution alongside Linksys. We later migrated to UniFi in one of our offices. How was the initial setup? The product is easy to install, however, it's technical. You need to have a technical person involved, and if you do it will be an easy installation. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? You buy the solution outright. However, I cannot speak to the exact pricing. What other advice do I have? I'd rate the solution at a ten out of ten. I've found the solution to be very good overall. I would recommend the solution to other users and companies. Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Is stable and easy to install What is our primary use case? It's useful for me because I can extend more devices to my clients so that they can connect in the summertime. In the summertime, you have high traffic because everyone is on vacation, and they can connect to a wireless solution. What is most valuable? I like that it's very easy and very stable. It's easy to install as well. What needs improvement? We need an official distributor in Egypt as we don't have one right now. Also, integration with other platforms will be good. For how long have I used the solution? I've been using it for six years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? It's a very stable solution. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Sometimes, I feel it's scalable. We have 500 users of this solution. How was the initial setup? It took 10 minutes to install one device. We needed 2 administrators for installation and maintenance. What other advice do I have? On a scale from one to ten, I would rate Ubiquiti Wireless at ten. I strongly recommend it to others. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Robust, easy to install, easy to deploy, and has good visibility What is our primary use case? It's a WLAN solution. I can provide access point management for the whole corporation. We are not physically installing a single site, we have a few branches across the nation, and I can manage them in a single point. I have a few SSIDs that broadcast to specific sites. I can manage the login, and I have it integrated to make it easier for my clients. They don't need to use passwords, it is based on a certificate that is on my domain. What is most valuable? The feature that I really like is the backup. You can save backups of this controller locally and then I can export it to wherever I want. It notifies me when I have to update the access points. It is consistently roaming my environment and alerts me when it is not up-to-date, or if it requires my attention. For example, it alerts me, if there is an access point that is conflicting with another access point outside of my organization and is using the same channel. It includes a heat map, which is pretty good. I can import an image with my company or my site, and delimitate the spaces, such as where the wood is, or concrete, brick, glass and few other materials, all with built-in options on the tool. I can pin my devices won where they were installed and we know exactly the broadcast intensity of the signal. The heat map is a nice troubleshoot tool, that helps me to manage the solution and understand if there is a complaint regarding a co-ordinant. For example, if someone complains that the Wi-Fi is not connected in some place of my sites, I can check the heat map and shows me the proper signal strength on that specific place, I know then, that where I should act, on my AP or on the client's connection to evaluate the network card for the user. The heat map is always working well. It has good visibility. This solution gives me a lot of power to manage the WLAN for my company. Ubiquiti WLAN is a very robust product to use. They have a feature that allows you to wirelessly connect between them. If for example, the Wi-Fi has a poor connection with the network, it will look for a partner, and select the wireless from there, or if I don't have data cabling on the local, I can simply connect it into the eletric network and it will work as a wireless extension from any other devices. We barely have outages with the solution and I requires a minimal attention/effort to keep running. What needs improvement? For me there is little room for improvement on my scenario, I have never used cloud solutions or had a glance on it. The improvement I see right now as a good feature is firmware related, if I were able to re-firmware my legacy/old Ubiquiti AP's with a generic new firmware, this would definitely extend the life-cycle of my older assets that still work smoothly, It would allow me to avoid some hardware expenses within years and keep my environment up-to-date. Another nice improvement for this would be a seamless integration with PowerBi from Microsoft to generate dashboards and aggregate the info on Infrastructure reports easier. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using Ubiquiti WLAN for approximately two years. We are using the most updated version, which is version 6.0 What do I think about the stability of the solution? We had two instances where the controller was down, but that was due to a server issue. The controller and access points are pretty stable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? In my environment, I currently have 20 access points. In the beginning, we had 15 or 16 access points, we already had close to 30 in the close passando, and now we are running around 20. In my experience, this platform scales pretty well. I have not scaled it to hundreds of access points, so I am not sure if it can scale for larger enterprise companies the same way it has for us. How are customer service and technical support? I have never contacted technical support. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? I have experience with the Ubiquiti UniFi solution. I have been working with it for three years. It's pretty stable. I have also, worked with Hewlett Packard and Cisco. The command line breaks the point for troubleshooting and for managing the information, as mostly things are done using a GUI on Ubiquiti, it really gets way easier to identify the issue sometimes. How was the initial setup? It was easy to set up. I would rate it an eight out of ten. It was only two hours to deploy. It is very easy to manage the solution. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? It doe not cost much, I could say that it delivers a nice pack for what it costs. What other advice do I have? Ubiquiti itself, is a good company to start with. Ubiquiti is the best choice for small companies because of the easy installation, their variety of products, and their integration, and you can manage all of your devices from a single controller. As of right now, I don't have any switches, just Ubiquiti access points, and a controller, but we can manage any device that is manufactured by the same vendor. This is a great feature to have. I, personally, have never used the switches. I am not sure what the capabilities of it are, or what the throughput is. If you are a small or medium-sized company, it will ease your life. It will present you with dashboard, and management capabilities. I haven't seen that ease with other vendors. Ubiquiti offers you a simple way to manage it. I don't know if it can be used in large companies, where you have large environments to manage, or with data centers or services that you offer on a large scale (over 200 AP/switch devices). I would rate Ubiquiti WLAN a nine out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
