Chromebooks run Google's Chrome Operating System which makes it very different than your traditional laptop. The Chromebook has been designed specifically to work via the web, which while it has some limitations introduces some very cool benefits.
With a Chromebook, unlike a traditional laptop which runs software like Microsoft Office or photo editing software off your hard drive, all your applications are actually stored and run in the cloud. The benefit is your PC doesn't get bogged down since you'll have less software to install and maintain as you'll be running web apps from the Chrome Web Store. Don't worry though, while your Chromebook does not run traditional software programs, you'll still be able to view and edit most popular file types using different web apps that are available. And you'll always have easy access – from anywhere there's an Internet connection. Now that's smart.
Chromebooks are also built without large-capacity storage drives, which helps keep them smaller and more portable. So while certain files can be saved locally on your built-in solid state drive, you can choose to have all your docs, videos and photos backed-up and stored remotely and securely in your Google Drive. If your Chromebook gets lost or stolen, your data, apps and settings in the cloud remain secure. And you can still access all your stuff through a Chrome browser from any computing device.
