Product Overview
Main Features
  • ShoreGear-50
N/A The ShoreGear-50 is designed for small-sized offices supporting both IP and analog telephones with analog trunking (i.e. 20 IP users, 2 analog extensions and 4 analog trunks at the same time). It uses a small 1U half width chassis and so is ideal for sites where rack space is valued at a premium.

The ShoreGear-50 supports up to 50 IP phones and up to a maximum of 6 analog ports - 4 loop start trunk and 2 analog extension ports. The ShoreGear-50 communicates with IP phones, soft phones and other IP endpoints using the Media Gateway Control Protocol (MGCP). The ShoreGear-50 interfaces to standard analog trunks using loop start or wink start signaling as well as to standard analog telephones including CLASS feature phones with Caller ID Name and Number and Message Waiting.

Just like the SG90 they work well and no hardware issues in about 2 years so I would say that they are good. Adding the rack mount tray allows it to be installed in any environment which is nice. September 14, 2014
Solid old switch. Really outdated. A 50 or 30 is the current equivalent. July 3, 2009
Old switch. Solid but obsolete. Best replacement for this is either the 24a or the 90. July 3, 2009
Solid T1/PRI switch. Kind of outdated though. I think they still make these but look for the ShoreTel 220T1. It'll let you put 100 phones on it plus a T1/PRI. They also make a 220T1A which has the 25 pair jack on the front. You can add analog lines or extensions (like a fax machine) with it in addition to their phones. Really a complete phone system in one appliance. July 3, 2009
These are ancient switches by Shoretel standards. Great thing though is that they are a lot more customizable on the analog side of things than the newer 30/50/90 switches.Other than some funky things with the firmware and telneting into them, great switch. Don't use these on a new system though. Get the 30, 50 or 90 switch. If you have a LOT of analog extensions go for the 24a. June 30, 2009
Automatic failover capabilities are awesome. June 24, 2008
ShoreTel is by far the best value for the money. Features comparable to Avaya or Cisco systems at a fraction of the cost June 24, 2008
Only thing it is missing is SIP support. March 5, 2008
