Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard - license 4.4 5 175 175
Configured new server to be a domain controller with roles and features of DNS Server, Active Directory, Application Server, File Server, Print Server, Windows Server Backup, Shadow Copies, NIC Teaming for Failover and assigned RDP to be on a different port. September 15, 2014
This OS feels like a step backwards to me, but I need to look into it more to see what it brings to the table. I have to do a lot more typing in this OS than in previous versions, and it gives us a lot of trouble with RDP. When it starts throwing errors for Remote Desktop Connection Manager and refuses to let me connect, I just switch over to the standard Remote Desktop Connection and I can log in just fine. Not sure what's going on with that, but it sounds like it's happening to a lot of people. Our Server 2012 test build also throws up a lot of errors with Windows Update. For us, Server 2012 is more hassle than it's worth. September 15, 2014
I was a little doubtful of the Modern UI on a server but the Server Manager is the best thing to happen to Windows server management since I've been in the industry. The improvements to Remote Desktop Services make it a no brainer for us September 15, 2014
I actually really like this OS. I'm not sure why everyone gripes that there isn't a start button, but I don't mind the change. I feel as though I can get to anything I need to just as easy without it. The OS is very fast on start-up and when it's running. Between Server 2012 and Server 2012 R2 probably my top two Windows Server OS'! September 15, 2014
The Windows Server 2012 systems I am running seem to be stable. Though as with any new UI, it does take a bit of learning to get around. Under the hood it seems like the same Windows Server to me, though there are quite a number of features that have been added. I am planning on upgrading all my Server 2003 systems to 2012 within the new 6 months. September 15, 2014
I feel the same exact way about this version as I do windows 8. Give it back the typical start menu that was so popular in all other versions of Windows and I'll give it 5 stars. Don't make me have to pay for an upgrade to get it back and I'll be overjoyed. September 15, 2014
Windows Server 2012 makes administrative maintenance of servers easy and I am very excited to learn more and more about incorporating Windows Powershell as part of my day to day tasks. September 14, 2014
Great new addition to the OS range. Works really nice and the new options that come with it made configuring and setting up needed roles and features a breeze. September 14, 2014
