Product Reviews
Microsoft Surface 2 - tablet - Windows 8.1 RT - 32 GB - 10.6" 4.1 5 8 8
A lot of features pack into this tablet If this product has everything you need out of the box it is great. Customizing it to work outside of what it does can be a pain.8.1RT is not the most user friendly OS. June 5, 2014
I might like it better in 6 months The size and weight are ideal. Still trying to get use to the operating system not sure this was an improvement? The office suite works OK but it freezes a lot, very frustrating. I use excel a lot and moving around in the worksheet sometimes a challenge.Overall, I'm OK with it and it will work for me, I just need to work on my relationship with it! May 15, 2014
My kids love their Surface Pros! We purchased three of these as Christmas gifts for our college-aged children. They did say it took a bit of getting used to -- about 2 hours, but they quickly became fans. They love the versatility and have told all of their friends to get one instead of a new laptop!! so far so good - loving it Windows 8 takes some getting used to and is not completely compatible with other Microsoft products prior to its time. However, the product is easy to use, has been very reliable and speed is acceptable for working with tools of Windows Word program and the graphics are wonderful. I would fully recommend this tablet. You really do not need the additional keyboard but for doing large amounts of typing, it is much faster than the built in keyboard that appears when needed. January 31, 2014
Great for home and business I have had android tablets in the past. As the IT manager I find it easy to integrate them with our Windows environment The problem was the practical use with users. I decided to purchase the Surface 2 and try it out. First the included Office is GREAT! What a value add it especially with Outlook. The other applications are perfect for the use. They are not full featured like the desktop version, but are great to open, review and do simple edits with. The ease of use is ridiculous. I literally took me minutes to setup and work with network shares, email, and documents. Android took at least 45 minutes to an hour.On the personal side it's awesome! Yes there is a lack of apps but it is a ton better that when the first surface came out. The mail app (not outlook) is ok. I can separate my personal accounts from business. That it a huge plus. If you have heard that google email and YouTube do not work, They are wrong. Yes it is true that gmail contacts and calendar do not import to the unit. but there are ways to make them work. YouTube works just fine in the browser. But there is an app called MetroTube which is simply great! I have had this for 3 weeks now and have yet to put it down. So far it has replaced my laptop. I would highly recommend this to anyone. Business, personal, student. It's a perfect fit for all. January 14, 2014
Windows 8 I am typically an Android person; however I needed the ability to easily remote into our servers while away from the office. I did not want a laptop due to the size and weight. The Surface 2 was the optimal solution for me. So far, I have managed to figure out how to remote into my servers but that's about it.My major complaints at this moment is the lack of apps in the app store, it had to add updates after the 2nd day and I was unable to turn it on the same day I received it after I set it up. My husband had to use his iPad to search the on the internet for the solution to get it turned on. He said I needed to thank iPad for helping turn on my Surface 2.Other than that, the tablet serves it's purpose. It is sleek and light. I just need more time to figure out Windows 8. Great solid product for business use This was purchased for one of my users. Out of the box, setup was pretty straight forward if you were familiar with Windows 8. Touch screen is very responsive. Having the USB port is great. Love the magnetic connectors for the power and accessories. The only gripe right now is some of the accessories are not available due to high demand. Microsoft seemed to not anticipate the popularity of the tablet and therefore wasn't able to keep up. December 11, 2013
Office Integration is Awesome! Being a former iPad user, the Surface is a much better "busiiness" device. Having Office included in the device is a major plus Outlook away from the office is priceless. I like the widescreen format of the tablet which makes it easier to work on spreadsheets and documents. Clarity and resolution of the screen is very good. Have encountered some power-on issues with sleep mode, but nothing a reset hasn't fixed. The keyboard is the nicest I've used with a tablet by far. Limited cases is a downside, but I settled on a sleeve-style that does a decent job of protecting the device when not in use. December 4, 2013
