HP EliteBook 2760p Tablet - 12.1" - Core i7 2640M - Windows 7 Professional 4 5 4 4
Heavy and a little clunky. Not sure I have seen any of my users actually use the tablet function and we have 100 of these deployed. If I had to do it over I would seriously consider whether I needed the tablet functionality in the first place. February 27, 2013
After 2730p servicing 3y warranty period I switched to 2760p. It is my fourth HP convertible on the line of travel companian laptops. As normally users complain it is heavy, nowadays a bit bulky and battery life is not on par with other light and portable laptops. But then comes the big BUT... as it is a comopanion to 8540w it is a whole lot lighter and easier to carry than the main WS. Both are on highperformance SSD:s and run Linux. 8540w on SL6.2 and 2760p on F17. They are lighning fast and do things as they are configured. The convertible design is excellent with latest Gnome releases with both ands on screen. My previous 2730p did take travelling around the workd and in the cities and on the back country and it still happily serves as my 9y old daughters laptop running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS with Gnome 3. Like Folio 13 which is very stylis and has long battery life I use it as a occasional Windows machine (7). These comparisons are like having Porsche GT3 compared to Golf GTi... one is for real work and the other for casual cityliving. It all depends what you need and what you do. The HP EliteBook series is not for show off and design contests. On serious work and demanding environments they are your best pick. They are packed with raw power which performs on full speed whole day (and 24/7/52 if needed). On social environments and daily life you should pick like Folio 13 or other media consuming models. I really like the form factor of this tablet. The convertible design allows for the best of both worlds and i appreciate that it has options for pen interactivity or finger and that you can turn either off. As someone who rests their palm on screen when using the pen this helps quite a bit.The control buttons along the edge of the screen are great for providing functionality when using it in slate mode, but on ours the rotate button stopped working and the settings to have the accelerameter determine rotation didn't cooperate either. If i wanted to rotate the screen, i have to do it manually via the display settings. Annoying, but considering most users aren't changing from the same layout they have when typing, able to be overlooked. The largest draw back I found to this machine is the weight. It is deceptively heavy for it's form factor. I even tried an experiment of handing it to a few people and each one registered an expectation of it being lighter and you could see them recovering quickly when they grabbed it. Considering it's size and lack of optical drive it's hard to understand what is adding that extra heft. It is the aspect that is keeping me from diving full force into deploying these instead of the Folio 13. June 13, 2012
I love these tablets! I had several problems with the previous model, 2740p, but these have been a dream. Highly recommended! February 16, 2012
