Cisco ASA 5505 10-user Bundle 4.8 5 14 14
configured managed and supported several ASA 5510 and 5505 devices. Love them. They are great in ACL and Access management configuration. device would be the best should they include the module that resides in their iron gate. I still rate this top of my list for small businesses. I wonder if they have models with gigabit ethernet ports/ April 25, 2013
i use 5505 and 5510. both are reliable and easy to configure via ASDM. couldnt configure asdm for 64 bit though. April 25, 2013
Great firewall and available at a price that won't break the bank. I suggest paying a little extra to get the Security Plus license for it. Especially if you are going to be utilizing DMZ functionality. Without it, you will have to select which interface (Inside or Outside) that the DMZ interface is prohibited to talk to. The ASDM is pretty decent as well if you are not comfortable with CLI. Of course, there is a ton of Cisco knowledge and help on the internet if you find yoursefl in a bind as well. April 24, 2013
Along with our Cisco 892 routers we have an ASA5505.Unlike the 892's you can use a GUI to monitor and configure things. It's not too bad and I use it quite often (I'm kind of Cisco command line deficient).Plus if you need help and you've purchase the maintenance (it is very, very affordable) then you can get all the help you want.We have a VPN to one of our offices. It works flawlessly. Not like a cheaper router / security device we had before. It just runs and protects us. What more can you ask. It is a great device. I'll not be changing anytime soon. It's a device I can COUNT on. February 14, 2013
For small offices this is a great unit. PoE on 2 ports and runs the same firmware as it's bigger brother - only difference is the speed and they way the interfaces are configured to the 5510.Built-in switch ports can be used if you only have a few machines and one or two WAPs. January 26, 2013
This is certainly a solid firewall if you need something for a branch office that can support site-to-site connectivity to another site as well as client vpn connections. The only downside is the licensing for each of the features you want (additional fees for more VPN clients, licensing this unit for 10, 50, or unlimited devices connected behind it, etc.).If you are not a Cisco expert, you will need to either learn the CLI or ASDM or have a 3rd party set this up for you. It's pretty easy to troubleshoot once setup, even if you are not an expert in Cisco devices. We have 3 of these at branch offices across the Dallas / Fort Worth area, and the performance has been stellar. I'm very happy with the product and the support you can get from Cisco. January 22, 2013
