Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM 4.4 5 18 18
Images are just stunning! I wish that I had made this investment much sooner. August 11, 2012
Fantastic This lens is Fantastic, has a fast autofocus because of the f2.8, i had the 70-200mm f4, which was super fast but this one performs much better. The built quality is fantastic, i would recommend this lens to all canon eos users who want to put Telefoto on their bags, wow! November 17, 2011
Good Lens the lens had a fast auto-focus, because of the f2,8 surely it won't need flash for indoor use. But i think it is to heavy. May 16, 2011
Overall a great lens This is the second of this lens I've owned. Personally I find while the IS version may be sharper in places, the non-IS is sharper overall throughout the zoom range. I sold my original to upgrade to the IS and wasn't pleased with sharpness, so sold it and purchased another non-IS and am much more happy with it. Typical L build quality, solid feel, fast and quiet AF and quite durable. My only complaint is the design of the lens hood attachment, a problem I have with most of my L glass - after a while they get loose and won't stay put, but I know I'm tougher on equipment than the average or casual shooter. Over Priced I sold mine and bought EF 200mm f2.8 prime. It was too heavy for me to carry around. Normally needs a tripod when you shoot at 200mm. That's the same as the prime but the prime is much lighter. IQ is excellent. As far as sharpness you might get almost same result with 70-300mm f4-5.6 IS, but this one has very nice bokeh. AF is fast and quiet. L quality built. But if you can find a good used IS version for a similar price, you might want that instead of this. December 29, 2010
I have had and used this lens for around a year now.I am disappointed in the sharpness of the images it produces. And from other reviews,it seems like other photographers have the same problem. You HAVE to use a tripod or flash to get a decent sharp image.I guess the good reviews come from the lucky ones who did not get stuck with a lemon or they do not care about the quality of the images.I regret purchasing this lens.Could have gotten 2-3 comparable quality lens for same.Might as well spend the extra for the IS and have something that works than spend less for a lens that may not work the way that you would expect. Disappointed Considering the amount of money this lens cost, I was surprisingly disappointed with the quality of image it produces. When you expand your image to 100%, details are blurry. There are exceptions. Shooting portraits at a distance of 15-25 feet produces great results. Shoot a bird 50 feet away, it's blurry every time. I've tried using a tripod, different camera body, same results.Other than that, I think it's a super lens. But if you can't get a quality image from it, what good is it. I also have used a 70-300mm f4.5 - 5.6 canon lens. The inexpensive version and the quality isn't far off from that.I'm really really hoping it may just need an adjustment. In fact, I'm praying an adjustment corrects the problem, otherwise the purchase was a total bust.I wish I had taken it back right after I purchased it, but I wanted to believe. Go to lens.. The 70-200mm lens can hold its own on pretty much any film/FF/crop frame digtal. The versatility, image quality, speed, color, contrast make it my go to lens for all my non-studio work.. April 27, 2010
