BUSlink CipherShield Internal Bay Kit provides an economical and convenient way of securing sensitive and confidential data from falling into the wrong hands. All you need is a regular 3.5" SATA hard drive. Install a hard drive into the enclosure, and install the enclosure into any standard 5.25" drive bay. Once installed, it can either be used as system drive (C: drive), or secondary drive.
When used as C: drive, BUSlink CipherShield Bay Drive Kit provides a superior hardware encryption to protect and encrypt the entire computer, including the data, boot sector, temp files, swap files, and even the operating system itself without performance degradation. It requires no device driver and is independent from and invisible to all known Operating Systems including embedded OS.
When used as secondary drive, it only encrypts the content on that particular drive. This is especially useful on a shared computer, where you can store all the sensitive files in the secondary drive without fear of being accessed by another user. Since the secondary drive is independent from the system drive, it is also a great solution for non-IT professionals such as lawyers, accountants, or healthcare specialists in a corporate environment where the computer needs to be constantly updated and tinkered by outside IT consultant or in-house IT department.
Data stored on the hard drive are safeguarded by hardware-based National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) certified industrial strength AES (Advanced Encryption standard) cryptographic engine. The advantage of hardware encryption over software encryption is that you need not be concerned about Trojans/viruses or software upgrades, which results in a decrease of total cost of ownership.
