Apple iPadĀ® 2 with Wi-Fi 3G 16GB - White - AT&T 4.7 5 26 26
Didnt think i would like it as much as an Android tablet but i think its brilliant! so quick! i take it everywhere! July 9, 2012
Absolutely love my iPad. I thought as an IT worker I would have to carry a laptop around everywhere I go "just in case". But not only do I get a lot of personal use (ebooks, news, email), the ability to ssh into any of my servers and solve an issue while away from the office is priceless. Also, the ability to hook an Apple TV to a projector or tv and use Airplay to stream a presentation is outstanding. No more fighting to get a projector to recognize my laptop! July 7, 2012
I have been lucky enough to see these in personal use environments, administration use, IT use, & as educational tools for students. I never thought that it would be able to be so versatile a tool, but i find that it is like clay that can be molded to the need of the user with a little creativity and proper vision.I bought one for my wife after her last laptop died a horrible death and a year later she honestly has only needed to use my laptop once, when our drug store delivered her ordered photos on a CD rather than via their website. She orders items from Amazon (&Amzn Fresh), does online shopping, Facebook, plays games with her friends, entertains our daughter with games, educational apps, and Netflix. In schools, i have seen the iPad2 used for everything from camera capture, edit, & present to full productivity tool with older students who have gotten very comfortable with pages and keynote. Seeing kindergartners practicing their letter shapes with a stylus rather than wasting page after page of printed work sheets has been game changing. The depth of the app store and web based tools that are designed for the educational sector leaves the only limitation to be that of the creativity and resourcefulness of the teacher. As as far as administrator and professional use, I know of several IT directors that have replaced their workstations in favor of this more mobile tool that, thru the proper curation and combination of apps, allows them to remote into necessary servers, vnc support end users, write reports and yes, even access Spiceworks. The built in email client and calendar are just as good if not better than the experience on the default apps in my OSX environment and I have been pleased thus far, quite contrary to my initial expectations. I didn't think it would make a difference but a tablet really changes the way you live. Not having to go to a room to use a PC or the hassle of busting out the laptop makes it too convenient. The iPad 2 is a stable product that is also enjoyable to use. Apple vs Android aside, you wont be disappointed. May 16, 2012
Very happy with my iPad 2. I've had it since April 2011, and have not regretted the purchase. It's great for checking e-mail, surfing the Web, researching, and watching videos. I take this on vacation with me rather than my laptop. It's awesome to shoot pictures and video with my iPhone and then create a vacation movie using iMovie on the iPad. I also love using Garageband to put down song ideas. I use the Teamviewer app for remote access into my media server, and for helping out friends and family, as I'm the "Help Desk".As far as my work environment, though, not much experience.
