DSC-F505V features a high performance 1 1/8" Super HAD CCD with over 3.34 million pixels interpolated to 3.7 million pixels. DSC-F505V will capture still images with ultra high quality resolution (up to 2240 x 1680). A 5X optical / 10X precision digital zoom brings the action close into range. The professional quality Carl Zeiss Vario Sonnar Lens uses a unique lens coating to reduce glare and flaring, while providing improvement in detail and clarity.

Shoots MPEG movies with more detail and a higher frame rate, for smoother more vivid video. With voice memo mode you can add narration to still images for e-mail or presentations, even play them back on your television. Slide show mode creates a slide show of your favorite images on Memory Stick digital media and playback automatically on your television via A/V out.

Sony's new high speed scan Auto Focus with Auto Macro capability delivers the highest level of focusing accuracy. For extra close-ups, auto macro allows the camera to focus sharply within 1" of the subject. With built in Auto Orientation the camera senses whether each shot is vertical (portrait) or horizontal (landscape). Each shot is then automatically displayed in the correct orientation on a PC or the camera's LCD monitor.

External flash terminal enables you to connect the optional HVL-F1000 flash which extends the flash operating range from 13 feet to 33 feet. PAL/NTSC Switchable Audio/Video outputs allow for easy viewing of images and MPEG movies on any television with standard video inputs.

Playback Zoom with Crop and Save Feature: Edit images during playback by zooming in and cropping the original 1600 x 1200 image. Use the control button to move and search the entire area of the picture to select a portion to crop. The newly cropped portion is then saved as it's own VGA image file.
