Backup software ensures the protection and restoration of critical data to the strictest RTO and RPO, regardless of type or if it is located in physical or virtual environments. Best of breed products offer continuous data protection (CDP) of both file servers and databases.
Backup systems can be disk-based (faster access and recovery) or tape‑based (lower cost and highly portable). The growing trend is moving to disk-based, as it includes data deduplication capabilities.
